Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

L'évolution Spéculative est moi

I was kind of waiting for Proletarian to announce it himself, but he's kind of just sat in the same thread for about fifteen minutes, so I'm assuming he's not at his computer anymore.

Anyways, Proletarian has chosen me to succeed him as the admin of SE. I was the first active member on this forum, I have experience in dealing with the zetaboards admin panel, I'm fairly adept at coding in HTML and CSS, and I have a profound and deep love for biology and all sciences related to it. I've promised him to keep this place going strong and I intend to keep that promise. So to end this announcement I would like to ask that if you guys have any issues relating to the site go ahead and let me know; drop me a PM, make a post in the User Commentary section, make your voice heard! I will hear you and I will respond! But seriously, let me know and I'll do what I can.

Thank you Proletarian for entrusting me with your community and thank you SE members for making this place so great.
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

I see no need to post this in a new thread, so I'll place it here. As the new admin I have addressed a couple of issues with the site.

  • I have dropped the peroid over which the site gains statistics (at the bottom of the index) from thirty minutes to fifteen minutes.
  • You now have the option of starting Poll-Only topics. This means you may start a poll without having posts in it, should you just want answers and not explanations.
  • Guests will now be presented with the Guest Box, which will ask them politely to join instead of just browsing, though they may still browse if they do not wish to join.
