Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

This has been bugging me ever since I saw that episode of "Life After People" a few months ago.

So bears lived in Britain because it used to be part of mainland Europe. Okay. I can buy that. I'm guessing the native Britons wiped them out along with wolves? But when did they do extinct there?

I like studying Medieval European history and Michael Crichton's "Timeline" is one of my fave books. You'd think that I'd have read someone talk about bears but nope.

So I'm guessing they must have gone extinct there even earlier. Like when?

I've found these dates so far:

Wikipedia: 500 BC

Northumberland National Park Website: "Before the Romans invaded"

Geogrphical Website: 500 AD

Took me a while to find these dates too. Seems nobody is all that sure when they died out here.
