Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

Never played creatures.
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

Are you plausible?

Y'know, you could always bring the thread back on topic yourself... ;)

The Yuuzhan Vong actually grew on me (no pun intended). At first I thought they were just a carbon copy of Cobra-La, but over time they showed some depth of character. As far as their biotechnology is concerned, I was never that impressed. Lava-shooting starfighters and snakes that can serve as a staff, whip, sword, and acid-shooter just seemed a little hokey to me; all of it was connected to pain, too, which just screamed Emo. The one thing I did like about their technology was the dovin basal. A gravity manipulating organ with a thousand and one applications!

Oh, and the anti-creationist sentiment is getting tiresome. It's okay to disagree, but don't be derogatory, okay?

How does the grav-manipulating organ work?

As always, Star Wars is light on technical explanations, so consider that a disclaimer.

Dovin basals are organisms that can generate quantum singularities (read: micro-black holes) that can be used to propel starships (latch onto some gravity field ahead and 'fall' toward it), serve as a defensive screen (suck missiles and laser fire into said singularities), and, if the individual organism is large/strong enough, even cause a moon's orbit to deteriorate until it falls into its planet.

Now i don't know what a quantum singularity is?

Sigh. Well, the said singularities would destroy the organism, and the amount of energy required...

If we can pretend this tiny black holes would create gravity, then we can say the organisms adapted for that much energy.

Especially when you realize how little that energy can be. You'd just need enough to target two tiny electrons, and let's face it, our bodies do that all the time.

Just how is this lifeform getting enught power to do such a thing?

:o :o :o

My point was sarcastic. Of course i know what a quantum singularity is! Do you think i'm stupid?

*Shrugs.* Not a clue. There would have to be some pretty exotic physics involved to make this ever happen.

Hey, whenever i say i don't know something i'm being sarcastic. I ask questions when i don't know. Sorry for any inconvenience i have caused.

Is that some roundabout way of saying that I've been off-topic? I thought I was staying on-topic by discussing the last relevant subject. How epic was my fail?

You did not or at least I would never dream of telling you if you did as you could ban me from the site.
