Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Now I know it sounds ridiculous, but do you think an entire race of extraterrestrial robots is possible. Ranging from nanotechnology, to weapons development, and replicating the mass and appearance of other pieces of technology, I don't see why it'd be so radical to think a race of such "organisms" could exist. And could have humanity developed our complex ways due to their help. Yes again it may sound utterly idiotic, but I don't see why another alien race could have created such creatures, who eventually developed a culture and race themselves.
And what if they are part of our history, we speak of gods from the heavens, who helped us develop technology !

Maybe they're like the Gravital from All Tomorrows, a once-organic species that became more and more mechanical over hundreds of millions of years in an effort to overcome the impermanence of organic life.

In the end, the best advice I could give you would be to do your project in a way that feels natural to you, rather than trying to imitate some geek with a laptop in Colorado.

That's an interesting proposal as well. I was actually thinking about a pseudo-history, and these mechanical beings came to Earth at one point and modernised us, they became the gods and goddesses of mythology, some are even responsible for stories of mythological beings. They were revered at one point but then banished and locked away, some hide on our planet (like some in the forests covered in moss etc, look like they are rather hairy), others are locked away in giant tombs like the pyramids. It's actually pretty cool the way I pictured it in my head. Oh and of course they can transform !

Presumably nanotechnology could eventually form an Unicron like planet and from there the darwinian principle takes over

Pretty much, although Unicron (unless you mean Cybertron) wasn't a planet he was actually somewhat like the devil in the Transformers mythos while Primus is their God, and he supposedly created the Transformers to fight with him, other editions say an alien race created them , the Quintessons they were called. And the film says the Allspark created them, but I digress. But nanotechnology could allow them to exist, but they would obviously look more like the films versions ! How badass would that be ! "You think little green men travel to your planet in UFO's !! Hell Im the f@%kin UFO !" *goes with the pic*

Unicron is to my eyes the closest to God the Transformers universe has, at least in a demiurge sense. Because he eats planets for no reason whatsoever

It doesn't sound idiotic, in fact, rather plausible. Machinery could and is developing in amazing ways here, with computers already quickly becoming are equals (we have robots now that is technically capable of emotions, not human ones, but still). In reality, artificial intelligence on that level is inevitable.

The idea of alien visitors visiting Earth and lead to the creation of civilization and/or inspired the gods from myths isn't ridiculous at all. Carl Sagan is the one that INVENTED the idea, Chariots of the Gods was written after he talked about it (he didn't beleive it, and kept with Occam's Razor). Unlikely, but possible.

I did just see the new movie. I liked it.

So I am not crazy !!! But there are myths that talk about visitors from the heavens, some who wore metallic armor and gave us civilization, it is truly the stuff of awe. I would like to see us one day discover such a thing ! It would also explain why the tombs of the phaorohs were so large and why they were beginning to progress in science so early, while most other people were still struggling to make a fire ! And yes the movie was great, but I wish they showed the other Primes more clearly and had shown us the other elder Transformers such as the WW1 fighter plane or the Ford Model T !

Yeah, I wanted to see the Model T. But, like a good Microcon, it just doesn't seem to be let into the movie. *sigh*

As for the civilization thing, actually, there is no scientific answer. Yes we can sort of explain why there, to a point, but why then? Think about it this way, humanity has existed for 100,000 yrs easy. Civilization has been around for around 6,000 yrs. Why suddenly then and not in the tens of thousands years before?

We just don't know. I could say aliens, but I don't think so. I could also say a real God did it, but scientifically that doesn't fit. The only idea I can come to is somesort of disaster was happening and people realized they needed to work together, but I just don't know.

I think that transformers are possible though maybe not exactly like any depiction we have made.

I want too know about the probability of technorganic possibillities for transformers and life?

The weird thing about this is that all my sources say that the transformers evolved. I'm only left wondering, from what? Are they, maybe, silicon based lifeforms and only look robotic (but in reality they're just composed of cells with different structures than our own).

And that's not Unicron. Unicron was the giant transformer that ate planets and was disguised as cybertron's moon (apparently cybertron is really, really big and massive, which is why the transformers are so big and strong, to fight the gravity).
We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar.

"The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming

It depends on the universe though in the original they where created by multiheaded cyborg squid. Though in others they evolved.

They said they evolved in the movies, and in the old 80's cartoon.
