Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

I'm with the guy that posted this. It's probably a viral video for a movie like cloverfield 2, or it's a rat trapped in a blob of polution. Still, that things look really cool, like living organs.

That, my friend, is a clump of Tubifex worms. They usually live in soil under streams, but they somehow got into the sewer pipes, where there is usually no soil, so they grouped together to form the blobs you see. The contractile movements are from one worm moving and the other worms around are prompted to do the same.

When I first saw that video, I thought it was a strange slime mold.

Intelligence is awareness of ignorance. Stupidity is ignorance of ignorance. Think about it.
