| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Science fiction loves cyborgs, and so do I . What would cause an alien civilization ( or even humans ), to evolve into a cybernetic organism? Some soilders or disabled people have artificial limbs and some elderly people have pacemakers, but what would give rise to a cyborg or a collective intelligence? Post your thoughts here. |

Well for a civilisation becoming bionic, think of it this way, do you want piezoelectric fibre muscles and scandium-tantalum alloy bones so you can lift a tank? regardless of whether you actually need to. Feel like being taller, smarter, and the opposite gender all at the same time? well start saving up and wait 50 years. As for nanocytes starting up on their own. I believe self-sufficient nanocytes would happily fit any definition of life, and be identical if not in composition then in practice to "life". |

I have not played that those sound interesting though. I think nanobots would be cool if they worked like Thomastapirs nanopanguin but I doubt they ever will. |
