| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I fear there's worst to come, on the pun-line. I'll try to keep the damage to a small area, anyway. |

I'm studying biology now, and I am sincerely interested in a big chunk of it; molecular genetics and cell biology, biochemistry, evolution, bioinformatics, astrobiology, and... more recently... zoology. Zoology I don't know so much about yet... I am taking a vertebrate zoology course right now and am enjoying it... but some of you seem to be walking zoology encyclopedia's its crazy :O |

Paul, I have to ask, is that your real name? And if so, do you have any family around Wichita, Kansas? |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

Hey, that's my favourite Western European nation. Not counting the UK or Germany. |

What's so great about Germany? |

Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea. "It is the old wound my king. It has never healed." | |

Same reason we hate them. With the French at least you know where they stand, but the Germans are so damned similer to us. They can't cook, are nice to animals, their old national anthem had a catchy tune they were an industrial power, they prefer beer to manky grape juice etc. Plus Germans generally like the UK a lot, so I might as well return the favour. Anyway, back to science. |

I enjoy biology, but my preferred field of Science? Science Fiction. Or whatever you would call "speculative science." It's the science of things that either don't exist or don't exist yet, if that counts. I just like taking something ridiculous and unusual (Like Magic) and then sciencing it up. Derp. |

I like that too. For me fantasy is best when the Magic has lots of rules and makes sense and is semi scientific. I prefer Full Metal Alchemists to Harry Potter and the like because the magic in FMA makes sense. Nothing comes from nothing, even the energy for magic is accounted for, at least in the first anime, were it is taken from out universe. I'm not sure if that is sconce though, but it's cool. |

I like that kind of fantasy as well, I really like FMA. I would definitely like to see another series done in the same universe, it had a lot of potential. |

Do you mean another one following other people? Because if you don't they have been broadcasting a remake that follows the manga for months. I would like to see more of the world, particularly the 2 nations that skirmish with Armteris and the soviet-y one in the north. |
