Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

In this scenario, two kinds of an entire machine entity land on a barren planet. One are the machine citizens, the other the nanotech creatures which come from a grayish goo-like substance which serve various purposes. Firstly, they construct the very first city on the colonized planet through nanotechnology using the planet's materials. In a matter of millennia, the entire planet's surface is covered in city.

If they could, could this hypothetical race somehow cool the planet's interior and dig deep within to urbanize the rest of the planet (if that is even possible)? I have already thought up of one story, but I am not sure if it would be plausible. Discuss.

hmmm... but why would macienes want to have entertainment?

I do like the idea allot, I just don't realy nderstand why machienes would act like that... unless they were programmed to create wildlife?
because there are an infinite number of alternate realities, withen them an infinite ammount of infinite things are possible... infinitly.

They aren't simply dumb machines who only do stuff to survive. They are intelligent, sentient machines who have emotions and free will just like humans.

oh... I suppose that is possible... it is rather hard for me to concieve a machiene with actual emotions, but I guess it could be possible... actualy, Anything could be and is possible...

okay, carry on with the story! :D

Yes, yes. So, with their free will, and complex emotions, they knew what they were missing on their planet, so they itched to create something to enjoy other than themselves. They created the nanospecies as I'll call them, just as we help breed and grow our terrestrial species. Like every intelligent species, they have wants and needs much more complicated than your average beverage or food item.

Amirite?

One possible method of reducing temperatures in the core of the planet would be building long "Room-temperature superconductor" cables from the surface into the interior. Due to the nature of such superconductors, heat energy would be quickly transfered along the length of the cable and could be used on the surface as an energy source to run factories and other such utilities. As to the problem of the magnetosphere, if the robotic civilization is advanced enough to travel between star systems and has the near unlimited resourses of the entire planet at their disposal, then there is no logical reason why they wouldn't simply build a huge magnet in the core of their planet to generate an artificial magnetosphere. This magnet could be considerably smaller than the original core, thereby leaving plenty of room for further urbanisation, and if the superconductor technology was used in it's construction the magnetic field it produces could even be more powerful than the planet's original.
Out of nowhere, you are attacked by a snarling, biting mass of felt shaped like a raccoon! This is the single angriest puppet you’ve ever seen, and it’s not cookies that it wants to eat…

Interesting! How about coiling the superconductors so that you get to divert the heat energy AND generate electromagnetism? That would be neat...
