Waking the Demon

Atton sat on the couch with his sleek, black, acoustic guitar in his lap and a piece of paper with a black ink pen atop it. It was early, around seven in the morning and Dylan still slept soundly. He'd probably get up to make her breakfast in a few moments unless she woke up without warning. She had a habit of doing that. Atton mostly spent the early mornings alone and had just decided to write music while he waited. It was either that, or play with the dog who slept as much as Dylan, or play Xbox. Atton wanted to be as quiet as possible so Xbox was ruled out most of the time. With a quiet sigh, Atton placed the guitar down and then stared over at Pax.

"Come here, boy." Atton called quietly and watched as the light gray, American pitbull rose from his bed in the living room and trotted over towards Atton. "Let's make Mommy some breakfast."

With that, Atton rose from the couch and let his bare feet pad on the wood floors. Atton had just pulled on a pair of jeans when he woke up, he normally preferred just to sleep in his boxers. Atton never slept with a shirt on and it wasn't an exception when he woke up. With a quiet yawn, Atton pulled open the sliding glass door to their backyard and let Pax out to run around before he turned around and moved towards the front door. Atton had pulled it open and then stepped out onto the front porch. After moving down the few steps that were there he walked down the driveway. Atton picked up the newspaper and gave a small wave to a neighbor before he walked back inside.

Once inside, Atton had dropped the thick paper down on the dining room table and then stepped into the kitchen. Atton had opened the fridge with a quick jerk of his arm and grabbed the bacon and eggs from their assigned shelves. Once he placed them on the counter he had grabbed two frying pans from the cabinet, one smaller than the other, and placed them both on the stove. After preparing the eggs he placed them in the frying pan and then moved over and placed a few strips of bacon into the pan and took a small step back when it began to sizzle. After grabbing a fork from the drawer Atton had stood over the stove and then turned around when he heard Pax dash back into the house.

Atton gave Pax a smile and then ran his large hand over his head. When Pax laid down at Atton's feet he went back to preparing Dylan's breakfast. It didn't take long for either the eggs or the bacon to cook and once they were done he placed both items on a plate that he had retrieved from the cabinet and then placed the frying pans in the empty sink. Atton had placed the plate on the counter for a short second and then grabbed the orange juice out of the fridge along with a glass from another cabinet. Atton quickly poured Dylan a glass of orange juice and then grabbed a fork from the drawer and picked the plate up once more.

Atton had traipsed through the house and then slid into the dark bedroom with a quick step, Pax trailing behind him. Atton's green eyes gave off a small glare in the darkness and he quickly moved towards Dylan's side of the bed. Atton had sat down on the edge of the bed and placed Dylan's breakfast on the night stand. With a small smile, Atton lent down to brush his lips against Dylan's for a short second.

"Dylan, baby, time to wake up." Atton crooned against her ear before he gave it a lingering kiss.

Dylan had slept restlessly for most of the night for reasons she didn't know. There was a lot of tossing and turning as well as waking up four or five times throughout the night. She hadn't disturbed Atton though. There was no need to and so every time she awoke, she only rolled back over to fall asleep once more. It was like that most nights, Dylan was not a heavy sleeper by no means so most things woke her, it wasn't a surprise and Dylan could run on little sleep.

Once Dylan felt Atton's ice cold lips against her own, she groaned quietly in her sleep and rolled onto her back with a slight smile on her lips. "Mmm," Dylan practically purred with her eyes still closed before they fluttered and opened to stare up then over at the man she loved. "Good morning, babe."

Dylan then slowly slid up to a sitting position to lean against the back headboard of the bed they shared nightly and smiled even wider. "I smell something amazing," Dylan whispered as she leaned forward to press her lips firmly to his. After a few, long, passionate moments of kissing, Dylan pulled her lips away but only just barely. He could feel her breath against his lips and she could feel his as well.

When Dylan's eyes locked on the eggs and bacon on the nightstand next to the bed, she grew excited. Atton was always so romantic like this, always surprising her and doing things for her that she would have never expected. That's one of the many, many things Dylan adored about him. Their life together was never boring and she had been lucky enough to find a man like him to treat her the way Atton did. He was, in every word, a perfect gentleman to her. Atton was her life and she, his.

"You're too good to me," Dylan said just as Atton handed her the plate of food. Nothing quite beat breakfast in bed.

Atton chuckled before he climbed over her carefully and then laid next to her in the bed. Atton's large fingertips slowly began to run along the small strip of exposed skin between her shorts and tank top. Atton smirked up at her slightly before he moved his head towards the end of the bed when Pax jumped up to lay in between them at their feet. Atton chuckled quietly at the puppy and then laid his head against her elbow as she began to pick at the food he made her for breakfast. To be honest, the food he made smelt horrible to him. Dylan smelt one hundred times better than that food and Pax smelt ten times better. It was funny to Atton how he'd much rather eat his dog than human food.

"I treat you how you're suppose to be treated, Dylan Curtis." Atton told her and then pressed his lips to the flesh of her arm. Atton slowly pulled his lips away and then stared up at her. "How is it?" He asked her curiously.

"It's amazing, like always," Dylan responded as she swallowed the bite of food that was in her mouth. Despite how Atton never seemed to eat, he was an amazing cook and though she told him all the time, he always questioned how the food he made tasted. "I told you, you're a great cook, Atton." Dylan then continued to eat and once she had finished the plate completely, she placed it over on the nightstand and gave Pax's head a gentle ruffle before telling him good morning.

Grinning, Dylan turned to the side so she could give Atton a lingering peck on the lips. As she did this, she tugged playfully at his bottom lip before pulling away completely and rising from the bed. After grabbing her plate and cup from the nightstand, she began to make her way to the kitchen to put everything in the sink.
