If you build yourself up to be one you have to expect to have expectations. Any high expectations out there he brought upon himself with his big promises. And Obama didn't get elected by his plans and policies. I actually rarely heard about those. All I heard was "Hey I'm not Bush and I'm going to make things change." I think the Democrats could have run a Walrus with a suit and still won because all they had to do was mention Bush and then they get votes. Sadly it was this mentality that caused both candidates to hardly talk about most policies. We never heard anything about Illegal Immigration, Education, improving Infrastructure (road ways, bridges, etc.), Abortion, Gay Marriage. All of those are big points of interest that went overlooked. Instead the candidates talked about three things. Bush, Economy, and War. |

But we did hear about those points. However, you make a valid argument. We didn't hear as much about these topics than we heard about the big three. There's also the problem of uninformed voters. For all we know, some of might not have cared about the other issues. THE BIG THREE (mostly) Will I be able to keep my house? Will this man's presidency be more of the same? What going to happen with the situation in Iraq? It's a good thing that none of this is going to matter to me. I'm moving to British Columbia and becoming a lumberjack... a cheese-eating lumberjack. |

Thanks Webb you basically said what I would have. And by the way, Not being perfect? Obama wants to institute a health care system like Canada's. Just to prove my point a town in Saskatchewan as a lottery decided not to give away money but a one time pass to the front of the line at the doctor's office. Cause, for example I hurt my knee a couple weeks ago. I saw a doctor and then a specialist in 3 weeks and now am getting Therapy to fix it.What took me three weeks in the US system would take approximately 7-9 months in a Canadian style system. And if you want more realistic times or proof ask Jerry I'm pretty sure he is from Canada. |

Triumvirate of CoIN: Foreign Affairs
|
You are full of it sealords, it would not have taken 7-9 months. THe horror stories are just that, horror stories. I lived in Canada for 13 years and never once had any problems. BTW there are wait times in the US for services. My daughter had to wait 3 months to see a pulmonologist. Its funny how people will quote the Canadian system as being weaker than the American system. The Canadian system consistently ranks several notches higher in QoS than the American system, which is funny since they have to compete with a ridiculously inflationary American healthcare system. Also, incidences deaths @ birth are lower, lifespan is longer, etc in the "oh so bad" Canadian healthcare system. Having lived in both countries, I would take the Canadian system any day of the week. Also, since you started my rant, the next thing that will probably be quoted at me is that people who live on the border tend to travel to the US to receive care if they can afford it, this happens on occasion for certain. It also happens in the opposite direction as well. In fact (and this is fact, my mother worked in the Ottawa General Hospital), people from the Northern New York & Buffalo region would go the General and neighboring CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) for care. There are pluses/minuses to every system. Don't let a stupid commercial on the a certain News station influence you with half-truths and lies. "The Government will deny covering a life-saving drug...." And insurance companies don't do the same thing? (BTW several of my prescriptions for my SEVERE allergy issues are not covered) "You will suffer severe wait lines to see a specialist...." And that doesn't happen here (witness my daughter's pulmonologist appointment timeframe) and only half-true, but half-true in both systems I'm done with this rant and will stay away from this thread because I suspect that people (who have never lived in Canada) are about to try and tell me what the medical system functioned like. |

Well I apologize for the mix up. I do live close to the border and I go off what I have been told. I will like to say that I do not intend to twist facts. But i have heard of people waiting 8 months to see an orthopedic for a ACL tear. |

I am a conservative my self, yet I cannot stand Ann Coulter. She has been A PROBLEM for Republicans, not THE PROBLEM. Yes, she said that she would vote for Hillary over McCain (I forgot the exact reason). She also LOVES creating controversy. However, she is just a talker (like Rush Limbaugh). The problem is, these talkers are viewed as leaders of the Republican party, instead of true politicians like Michael Steele, Bobby Jindal, etc. These real republicans need to get serious if they want to win. The problem is Republicans are pushing their fellow party members under the bus (ex. take a look what happened to Palin, attacked by media, then mccain camp starts attacking her, she became a sitting duck) |

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,301216,00.html Take a look at this comment made by Coulter. Whether she means it or not, she just loves to create controversy. A reason why I don't particularly like her |

I like bobby too. . .don't count out Mitch Daniels just yet either, I know he doesn't get alot of press, but if and probably when he decides to run he will make the primary even more intereasting than it already is shaping up to be. (am I the only one who feels bad about talking about an election three years from now) |
