The f-22 program has officially been cut. They will be finishing four more fighters and then they will end production at 185. Secretary Gates just fucked the air force in the butt. They gave more to the navy and we are finally moving forward as we should be. Going all to f-35s. w00t. |

haha lol. Secretary Gates has been making the Air Force his bitch. He basically is clearing them out of shitbags and trying to make them team players. I hope he succeeds. This press conference put a lot of my worries to rest about what the Obama administration was going to do with the military. I am very happy. Read it on Cnn. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/06/gates.budget.cuts/index.html?iref=24hours |

They are a great air superiority fighter but at over $140 million per fighter it wasnt necessary to have more than 185 which is how many we will be maintaining. Also in the short time we have had them 4 have already crashed due mechanical and avionics issues. This fighter is really too expensive and too limited to its job which is why the Airforce is being forced to cancel the remaining orders, and switch to the f-35. Also Secretary Gates has been whipping the Air force into shape because they haven't been team players in GWAT. This is a good move. Though we will still see F-22's in the skies. |

Well speaking from the Air Force's view, yeah we know the F-22 is a piece of sh*t; and yeah they're much harder to work on, then say the F-16, but as technology becomes more and more complicated the of course maintenance is going to become more complex. Anyway from the looks of it the AFISR Agency, the one that I work for, has been getting a larger and larger budget. So look to see the AF become more and more of a back up to the other branches, taking pictures from up above and relaying them down to ground forces and the whole "CYBER" campaign thing they're trying to do, while the other branches pick up the slack. -Gray |
