Jonah
The deep rumble of a diesel engine echoed off the pavement as a massive black truck with huge mud tires and flood lights rolled up to the side of the road just before the gates of Frost Manor. The engine barked as is it shut off, the lights flashing as the powered down. Jonah looked one last time at the business card in his hand before half-hazardly tossing it on the dash and bumping the door open with his knee. The gravel on the side of the road scrapped beneath his boots as he stepped out and looked across the hood to the black gate separating the property from the rest of the neighborhood, racking his hair out of his face and rubbing his neck with a sigh. He scoffed at the typical old grandure of the residence belonging to a vampire.
Beneath his bomber jacket he checked his back to be sure he could reach his knife that rested strapped to him, hilt down, a habit he couldn't help. Its presence was a comfort he would never trade as it fit so perfectly into the hollow of his spine, thus his shirts where hardly ever tucked in.
Casually, he walked up to the intercom to the side of the gate, and pressed the call button with his knuckle.

Jackie calmly walked over to the close circuit screen and a small smile crossed her face at the sight of Jonah standing outside the gate. She quickly typed on the attached keyboard before opening the gate for him.

YOU CAN PARK IN FRONT OF THE DOOR. NO ONE WILL BOTHER YOUR TRUCK.

Then she wandered down to the front door to properly greet her guest. Her "Jewels" were all either asleep for the night or out with their own friends and not expected back until late tomorrow afternoon. Her club clothes had been changed for a pair of wide leg yoga pants and a loose top, both in a soft sage color, and for once, her throat was bare, revealing the horrific scar that marred her skin.

Glancing back at the massive truck, Jonah shrugged his shoulders. He didn't feel like moving it. Besides, its easier to jump the fence and peel out than risk disabling the truck with a gate. He hated being so suspicious, but in his line of work it was always better.
He casually ran his fingers across the bars of the gate as it opened and he passed through. His long legs ate up the distance between the road and the door, taking the steps 2 at a time.

She opened the door just as he reached the top with a wry grin.

Didn't feel like moving it? she inquired, tilting her head slightly. Her hair was loose, flowing around her hips in waves as she looked at him.

Jonah hopped onto the top step and snapped his fingers with a grin as she opened the door, his mind already open to speaking with her. Laughing he tossed his head and looked back toward the shadow of the truck over the fence, "Nah," he said, waving at it dismissably, "She looks comfy there."
Looking back at her as she leaned on the door, her lovely face warm with a mischievous grin she seemed to have often, and the smile dropped on his face ever so slightly. He'd never seen her in casual attire before, the pants she wore hugging her thighs in just the right places, the shoulder on her top slipping a bit. Jesus. Her hair was down, and her scar...
Looking away from her, up at the house, he cleared his throat, "Nice place. Had it long?" A little voice in his head began to whisper that he needed to go home. He knew it would only get louder. Get in, get the damn knife, and get out he instructed himself.

She shook her head, an amused smile on her face as she shut the door behind him. Long enough to get it refurbished and redecorated to my preferred tastes, she replied with a shrug. She motioned him to follow her through the open foyer and up the grand staircase to the second floor. I keep the knife in my private rooms.

It was the most secure place in the entire mansion to keep it as she would hear any intruders that came for it and be able to dispose of them appropriately.

As his eyes followed her gesture toward the grand staircase, his lips parted to offer to wait there, but he hesitated. Its not very often a Schattenjager gets an open invitation to the home of a vampire.

His curiosity will surely get the better of him one day. But he was fairly certain that Jackie wouldn't be a threat. They know too much about each other for any conflict to end quickly. Part of him had been anticipating a fight tonight, he'd been beyond bored for days. He'd almost picked one with a drunk patron just a few hours ago. The sparring match he'd had with Kale the other night had only made him more tense. He liked Jackie, and really didn't want to upset her by being abrasive, but he wasn't sure how well he'd manage.

Giving her a half smile, he stepped after her up the stairs, his fingers tracing the smooth polish of the banister as he looked around the foyer.

She didn't say anything, just lead the way up to a large bedroom and sitting room combination. A large canopied bed of a dark wood was made with soft green bedding and curtains while overstuffed chairs were scattered around a large sofa. ON the walls were various pictures, paintings, and the occasional cross stitched picture with no set theme between them. The floor was covered in a thick grey carpet, and the overall feeling of the place was comfort and warmth.

Jackie motioned for Jonah to have a seat as she moved over to a specific cross stitch picture. Have a seat and I'll get the knife, she said before tossing him a wry grin. I haven't touched it since I put it away after moving here.
