Proud Clay Admirer !
That show has really lost it's appeal to me... the last coupla years, especially. It's almost become a waste of time... 2 to 3 times a week, commercial after commercial, silly &/or demeaning tryouts in the first several weeks, the wrong folks getting voted off and the wrong folks staying on....

I don't know if I can do it, again, this go 'round.

We'll see... :dunno

I feel your pain MrsDM and totally agree.

They drag everything out ad nauseam. I'm thinking Idol may go down the tubes.

Gotta say, I still love this show and since season 2 have gone to all of the AI concerts. Good times.

After Season 3 I have not watched the show from the beginning. I cannot sit there and watch all the nonsense. I wait till the final 12 and only watch it then because my husband likes the show. I do not like the judges or Ryan. Favorite season of course is 2. It gave me Clay. :heart

I don't watch AI until they get down to the final 10. I really can't stand the tryouts.

Much to my "bestest" friend's dismay :dunno ...when they get to the final ten, I only watch the recap at the end of each show. I get as much from that as I do from an hour of strange and mostly bias comments by the judges and commercial after commercial. This drives her crazy because she likes to compare notes....I will have to try harder this year....maybe. :wink

The show has really lost it's zip for me. :thumbsdown

By the way, I love the "edit" feature on this board. Now I can at least correct the multitude of typos I make in each post....or at least try to. :thumbsup

We'll probably watch it again this year, but there has not been the same excitment after Season 2. I keep hoping for another once in a lifetime talent, but how could there be? :dunno Clay was our once in a lifetime. :music

I am not faithful to watch until they get to Hollywood, but when it gets to that point, I am glued every week. Love hearing new singers and what they sing and how they do.......LOL :bananaparty :bananaparty

I also like to hear Simon..like him or hate him, he is a huge part of the show. Paula I could do without, but this year she won't be the only female..new younger judge, female..will see how Paula does with not having sole attention from Simon, :popcorn

I picked up David Cook's new Cd the other day, it's pretty good

Would LOVE to see Clay as the host along with Ryan, they would be great! I probably won't watch again until it's past the crappy singers. That part drives me nuts.

I'd love to see Clay on AI singing Everything I Don't Need and blowing everyone away. He was a magical performer in 2003 but now he is that and so much more.

Of course the PTB at AI will never have him back after he stole the spotlight and all the buzz on the AI5 finale. Oops. Bad Clay :wink

Been watching PAULA making the rounds on various talk shows, & what some have suggested ,is that the new judge is being groomed to take her place next season.Don't know how much truth to that , but that is what BARBARA WALTERS said on THE VIEW this morning. The show (imo) has been going downhill since season 2 was over.No wonder, you just can't top Clay.&by the way, again (imo) i really don't, think she is that fond of Simon.,by the way she talked about him. :scratch_head

DECEMBER 2008 MINUTES

AMERICAN IDOL
When will the schedule and any new details about this season be released?

January through March details will hopefully be released before the Holidays. All episodes will be Tuesday-Wednesday. No Thursday’s planned; same overall number of hours as last year. There will be 3 weeks of auditions and 2 weeks of Hollywood rounds. There will be 36 contestants coming here to Hollywood as opposed to 24 last year. There will be a wild card week and there will continue to be 12 contestants in the Finals. There will be a couple of more 2 hour shows than in the past. Promotional thrust will have fewer bad singers and more ‘aspirational’ singers. There will be no Idol Gives Back.

Thanks Jan--there will never be another season that will match the excitement of Season 2 but I still like to watch. Someone like Clay is once in a lifetime.
