Can any of the CDB members who live in Raleigh suggest a restaurant where a group of us who are going to the Gala can eat dinner for a reasonable price, and not too far from the hotel where we are staying ? (The Marriott). Any suggestions will be much appreciated. |

I don't know, Carol. The only place in Raleigh that I have eaten was the Texas Steakhouse, and that was because it was near our hotel (which I can't remember the name of) and Faye had suggested that as a place to meet because we didn't know our way around Raleigh. It was good, but to be honest there was so much conversation that I don't even remember the dinner. I will try to get some suggestions and let you know!

Aww, Jan, you're such a dear heart! I forgot that you had been to Raleigh and probably would know of a restaurant. It sounds like a good place, so we'll keep it in mind. I'm sure there are loads of places to eat. Then, of course, there's always Clay's house....BWAH!!! He can't even cook.

OOPs! Carol, I thought it was open for viewing. Didn't realize you needed to join to read. It is a nice board, though. |

I've been back and forth with ConClayve about getting onto the board and' found it was necessary to join in order to log on. However, the mod I was corresponding with gave me the names of several restaurants which was very nice of her. ( I didn't sign up with the ConClayve though.) -Mo's Diner -518 West -The Big Easy -Sitti -Duck and Dumpling -Caffe Luna |

I remember hearing that Clay was seen at The Duck and Dumpling. I think... I wasn't there long enough to experience any restaurant other than the Texas Steakhouse, which isn't close to the City Center Marriott. We ate at a private club for Easter brunch with our granddaughter's father when we went to my granddaughter's college graduation, so that doesn't help. It sounds like you got some good suggestions Maybe these links will help: http://www.thebigeasync.com/ http://www.sitti-raleigh.com/ http://www.mosdiner.net/ http://www.518west.com/ http://www.theduckanddumpling.com/dd3.swf http://www.cafeluna.com/ |

Carol, I posted the question about eating places on my Facebook page, and Faye Parker responded with: "If she has a car and loves seafood. Captain Stanley is not far from there and reasonable. Head east on 70 Downtown has lots of places and a lot of them are expensive so I will have to look that up. Near by is 18 Seaboard, 42nd St Oyster Bar, Armadillo Grill, 518 West and many more. If needs walking distance I have to check that too. I know not far from City Market and some fine eating places." So I guess one question is, do you need restaurants to be within walking distance or will you and your group have transportation in Raleigh? |

Thanks Jan for the info. We probably need a restaurant within walking distance since we won't have a car. But I am confident there will be a restaurant nearby the hotel. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a good place to eat. The places Faye suggested sound good and perhaps we could take a cab if need be. Gee, I just realized its 6:05am, on a Saturday! I'm so conditioned to getting up early for work, that I can't even sleep in on a Saturday. Ugh! Well, might as well have breakfast. Edited by CarolC., Sep 26 2009, 02:08 AM.
