OK, why is there a weird voiceover guy introing the judges and Ryan? That's so cheeseball. Let's get this going, because we've got 13 tonight, and a girl's gotta sleep. Lil: Holy puffy strap, Batman...Lil got the show off to a good start, with a lot of energy, confidence, and a good song pick. She did miss a couple of good notes, and her "gone" came out as "goon"....but still, very good. Scott: His tone, while not quite pitch-perfect all the time, is just very pure and very nice to listen to. He also has one of my favorite personalities this season. I'm not familiar with this song, but I thought Scott did a nice job with it, and he finally got to play the piano.....woohoo! Danny: Personally, I hate this song. Thankfully, Danny sort of saved it for me. He definitely sang it well (better than last time), interacted with the crowd, and tried to dance. emphasis on tried. The best so far. Michael: I figured he'd be on the chopping block Wed night, but after that performance, I have no idea. That was really quite good. Though I felt he was afraid to try to go for a few higher notes. he may just have a more limited range than I thought. Still, nicely done, Mr. Sarver. Jasmine: This was fine, and she can sing pretty well....but i was a little bored. Add to that a few flat notes right in the middle, and it was only mediocre to me. Kris: Ooh, I like the guitar touch on Remember the Time. very nice. It was a good performance for the most part, but there were about 3-4 noticeable cracks in his voice during the second half of the song. Not too shabby, but I'm sure he's capable of better. Allison: Another song I'm not familiar with, and my favorite girl delivers. it bewilders me that she's 16, because watching her and listening to her, it sounds like she's been in the music industry for 10 years already. Crazy! She has the potential to become the next Joan Jett. Anoop: Oh Noop. This was a fun performance, but that's not really what Anoop needs right now. Not to mention that the stage suddenly looked like a scene out of the Matrix, and that almost scared the bejeezus out of me. I think he'll be fine this week, but I hope he goes back to concentrating on his voice next week. Jorge: He sang it pretty well, but the performance itself dragged. And yes, Simon, I didn't like the arrangement either. It felt like a theme song from a really bad 70s cop drama. Still, Jorge sang it well. Megan: Ok, I like Megan, and I think with her voice she can do well with some more atypical song choices, but this was just flat out strange. I felt hugely uncomfortable watching. At least Gordon Ramsey liked it. I think. Adam: Sweet! I haven't heard this song in a looooooooonnnnnnnngggggg time! And who else besides me was expecting Adam's head to do that cool morphing thing that the original video had. There were moments where it almost sounded like it were Motley Crue covering the song instead, but it was still a show-stopping performance. Matt: I figured it out: If Justin Timberlake and Michael Buble mated, I think they'd produce a Matt Clone. Seriously, go look at pics! Anyhoo, we finally get Matt back on the piano, and it's how I much prefer him. His voice is nice, but the runs and riffs still drive me a bit nuts. Playing and putting a passionate performance through the piano sells it more for me. Alexis: Good song choice, and another job well done, but I do think she was oversinging in parts. Also think the band is partially to blame for that, as the guitar was WAY TOO LOUD. Not the absolute best use of the pimp spot, but still pretty solid. Overall, I WAS going to call it the best of the first finalists' show of all 8 seasons, but then it went a little all over the place. there were some very good performances, but there were also a couple of eggs laid. Rankings: Adam Danny Allison Michael Scott Lil Matt Alexis Kris Anoop Jorge Jasmine Megan Edited by TigerCubGirl, Mar 10 2009, 07:00 PM.

I do have to add that I thought Simon nearly went too far with his comments for Scott, Kris, Anoop, and Megan. When he told Scott that being artistic wasn't for this show, I literally said out loud, "Excuse me?!?" As an avid music fan who wholeheartedly agrees that the mainstream music industry has major problems, that offended me and further cemented my opinion. |

Tiger, my rankings are right in line with yours. I am an Adam supporter early on. He will never be Clay in my heart and mind, but I'm feeling about him like David Cook. I think both guys are wonderful singers. I might just buy their CDs. David Cook has really grown on me and Adam affected me from the first time I heard him sing. I'm looking forward to tonight's show. I have many Clay buddies who will not watch the show and I respect their choice. As for me, my life is boring and lonely, so watching Idol gives me something to look forward to and enjoy, I really watch very little TV. I think most of all I will be grateful always that the show brought Clay into my life. |

I thought they all did a good job. I did think that Michael showed better then expected too. I thought the judges were harsh on some of the contestants, but I guess that's part of the show. I think that Jorge will be the one to leave tonight. |
