OKie doke....

Von: I want to pull for him since he's a fellow Missourian, but he hurts my ears. Tonight, he actually restrained himself and put in a pretty decent performance. He has a nice falsetto. The only similarity he had to Clay was the way he pulled the mic back...otherwise, he sounded completely different. Still though, very nice performance. Though two hours later, I can't remember much outside of the falsetto.

Taylor: I thought she sang quite well. Her low notes need a little work, and I wish she would have put a little more life into her performance.....but out of all the people I've heard sing If I Ain't Got You on the show, she was actually one of the better ones.

Alex: This guy has fantastic eyebrows....no, I'm serious. Those browsies put on a show of their own while he was singing! Alex, on the other hand, forced it too much. The low notes didn;t come easy for him, the growling was inappropriately placed...he just didn't make it look effortless. And I still caught myself smiling and laughing. he still managed to entertain me. Though personality and great brows can only take you so far. We'll see what happens.

Ariana: Of all the ABBA songs, why Winner Takes All? I'm glad she didn't sing Dancing Queen, but Take a Chance on Me would have been sooo much better for her. She has good control throughout most of the song, but cracks significantly on about 5 notes. She wasn't high on my radar before, and this did nothing to change that.

Junot: I'm not bothering with the apostrophe...I'm lazy. :P Hey There Delila is not only known for its chorus, but also for its memorable acoustic riff. Junot not only switched up some of the notes, but eliminated the acoustic arrangement so as to make it comepletely his own. And I think it worked. Probably the best so far.

Kristin: As easy as this song is, I thought Kristin did a great job with it. The very end was slightly rough, but other than that, I thought she totally worked it. Although her dress looks like an orange sherbet ice cream cone threw up on her.

Nate: Do Anything For Love? Oh Lord....this could either be spectacular, or a complete and utter mess. Actually, it's neither. He does an ok job, but it just come off as karaoke to me. Nice headband though.

Felicia: Hmm, Alicia Keys sure is popular tonight, no? Aside from a couple of raspy notes, Felicia looked completely comfortable on stage. And there were a few moments where she really did sound like Alicia. I don't know if it's enough to move on to the 12 from here, but I think she still has a small shot.

Scott: Wow, they definitely weren't allowing instruments this round. From what Paula was saying, I'm assuming they might allow them later on? I hope so. Scott picked a nice song for his voice. His tone is actually reminiscent of a young Bruce Hornsby. It's not a voice that completely knocks me off my feet, but it's nice enough that when combined with his personality, passion, and sense of humor, could still take him far.

Kendall: Nice blonde girl singing country...where have we heard that before? She wasn't bad, but aside from the fact that she looks like a younger version of Kristen Chenoweth, there really was not much to write home about that performance. I am disappointed that her dad didn't come and do that alligator dance again. That looked kinda cool.

Jorge: At first, I didn't think his voice fit DLTSGDOM at all, but it got better as the song progressed. I still would have preferred to hear him sing some Marc Anthony, but he did a pretty darn good job here. Expressing some tears on live TV couldn't hurt, either. He just might have a shot at at least a Wild Card spot.

Lil: Surprise!! The most pimped girl gets the Pimp Spot! And surprise! She does well! I hesitate to say that it was brilliant like Simon and Co. though. mary J. Blige is a good fit for Lil, but Be Without You is a song where the backup singers sing most of the chorus. So really, Lil could have done much better with a different song. There's no doubt that this girl can work a stage and get the crowd going, but I really wonder what her true voice technique is. She has yet to wow me with it.

Hmmm......this group was kind of on autopilot and is therefore hard to rank, but I'm going to give it a try anyway:

Junot
Alex's eyebrows
Kristin
Scott
Lil
Jorge
Felicia
Von
Taylor
Nate
Kendall
Alex
Ariana

Hi Tiger! I always look forward to reading your take on the nights offerings. :comeherehug

Nobody really wowed me tonight. No one's really impressed me since Alexa Grace the first week. That I still remember her name is testamony to how much I enjoyed her performance.

My list is a little different. I'd put Scott and Lil at the top with maybe Von or Jorge getting the third spot although Ju'Not was ok too. I know that Idol isn't 'fixed' :crook but they already have two girls and four guys in the Top 12 so I wouldn't be surprised if a girl got the third spot tomorrow just to keep a little balance.

I kind of wondered why they didn't take half the people from this week and mix them in with the group from last week. Because, IMO, the people this week could actually sing. Whereas last week, IMO, there was only one person who could carry a tune in a bucket... and thankfully Allison made it through to the the next round. (Sorry, I still don't get the Adam thing... AT ALL ... but I guess he'll have a few more chances to win me over).

It's interesting, though, because at this point in the competition - the four judges have heard thousands upon thousands of performances. Everyone who is in the top 36 has the ability to sing. It's just a matter of proving that they deserve to be in that position.

And for the record, I think we should all start wearing headbands like Nathaniel. We can photoshop a group picture and send it to Simon. :bigsmile
