Firstly: this is a thread where i think up possible ones, not the real roots of the word :P

Secondly: Try to avoid root words, because those are original and can't be traced back to anything besides the foundation language which is boring.

As for thwart: got no idea, so i retaliate: find me the origin of persuade

I ain't got anything else :(

anti-disestablish-mentarianism

Its a political position, who woulda thunk it...

Antidisestablishmentarians tried to remove the Church of England as the state church of England in the nineteenth century. I'm opposed to that, because I'm Church of England :P

People think its the longest word in the English Language (with its massive 28 letters and 12 syllables), but theres one other...pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (a lung disease, caused by the inhalation of very fine silica dust from volcanoes.) at 45 letters.

I'll do Idiot later lol.

Good try darv, cept its anti-disestablishment-arianism rather than anti-disestablish-mentarianism.
Also, if you include chemistry, theres a single 'word' that has over one thousand letters.
Fun fact: the longest-named town in the world purposefully made its name ludicrously long to get tourist interest. ;D

Well, for example, the chemical signature for a skunk smell is CH3C2CH2CH2SH.
Water is H20.
A formula if you will.
Its the longest ligitamate string of letters, but doesn't really count as a word, which is why I say if you include chemistry.
