Leila headed out of the park and decided it was best to return to her apartment. Even though she had gotten away from the situation she hadn't escaped the confusion. She still couldn't recall what had happened and why she had ended up on the ground. Grabbing her cell phone from her pocket she checked the time. 5:46 p.m. What time was it before we headed to the park? She shook her head in frustration, because she couldn't remember and put the phone back in her pocket.

She began to wonder if they would try to catch up with her- or at least wonder where she had gone off to. Leila shrugged to herself as she neared an empty bus stop just down the road. To get home it would be one hell of a walk, so she decided to sit down at the stop and catch a ride on the bus- she hoped she had enough money. In her other pocket she felt some change and maybe a couple of bucks. Satisfied she sat Indian style on the bench and pulled out her phone yet again and occupied herself with the game Tetris.

After his encounter with the others ended, keeping up with Leila wasn't that tough. Granted, he never caught up with her, but that was mostly because he kept trying to experiment with his new abilities-making a pebble move here or there, walking through a fence without stopping (taking shortcuts would be very easy now), etc.

When he finally decided to quit messing around, he'd find Leila sitting on a bench, probably waiting for a bus. Phil walked up and sat next to her. For a few moments, he would just sit there-conversation after all of THAT seemed a little strange.

"How you feelin?"

Lame, probably. Asking about how she felt after that fiasco? Insane. Then again, maybe they were all a little insane. A week ago, Phil would have laughed in the face of anyone who told him he could walk through fences without stopping. Now, he had a few ways to do it. Funny how things like that changed so quickly.

Leila felt someone sit down beside her though she didn't think much of it. People sit down at the bus stop all the time to catch a ride, and why should she have to look at them in some sort of silent greeting? She was absorbed in the game anyways- level 25, heck yes! When the person spoke however, she quickly recognized the voice and she jumped a little out of surprise. Feeling flustered, she'd turn away and slowly shrug in response to his question. That was really the best way to describe it- a silent "I don't know". The phone kept beeping from her loosing the game after she'd gotten pretty far, so she exited the game and put the phone back in her pocket. Leila sighed, How you feelin? How am I supposed to feel after what just happened? I don't even know what the hell happened. I was...knocked out or something.

"I'm alright I s'pose. Considering what happened, though I'm not sure what exactly happened after I... fell?" She'd look away, not really wanting a correction at the moment. Right now a soak in the bath felt really good.

"What're you doing here anyways? Didn't you drive?" She leaned up against the back of the bench wrapping her arms around her knees. She didn't mean to sound rude, though it always came out that way when things got a little messy.

Phil nodded-he had driven, though he wasn't too worried about the car vanishing. He had the keys, and it wasn't TOO horrible of a place-he highly doubted it was gonna vanish. Besides, he could fly-like he needed it.

Ok, realistically, he still needed it. He couldn't be flying everywhere. "Yea, I drove...but I figured I'd catch up and make sure you were alright...it's mostly my fault, probably. I was the one throwing things, and he would just let it pass through him...so...there's a good chance I accidentally hit you."

Phil put his hand on the arm of the bench, and, after a quick glance around to ensure he was safe, moved his hand down further, passing through the arm of the bench as if it wasn't there. As his hand passed through, he felt something odd-a fizzling feeling on and in his body, as if he were made out of soda, as strange as that sounds. It only occurred at the point through which his body were passing though, so he figured it was just a thing to deal with when using this particular power.

"Yano...we don't have to take the bus. I'm pretty sure I can carry both of us...yano?"

He wasn't sure if Leila had seen his trick earlier, from when he surrounded himself in light, but if she had then she would maybe remember that he had been able to fly-he felt like he could pull that off for more than just himself. If she wanted, at least.

Leila nodded slowly. She couldn't help letting a smirk appear on her face. It was nice knowing someone worried about her. Wait. Ew, I'm getting sappy on myself this quickly? She shook her head and rubbed her forehead, having wiped the cheerful expression from her face.

When she heard it was probably his fault she kinda got mad but quickly pulled her thoughts together, and realized it was very irrational. It was like giving a teenager keys to their first car and not expecting an accident- it was going to happen. Leila shrugged and tried to ease up. "It's alright. Maybe it was better that way. I prolly needed a good knock", and with that she knocked on her head and chuckled.

A dog barked down the road and Leila smiled as it trotted alongside his owner. She felt a connection to the dog- probably something to do with her powers. She shrugged and looked at Phil a little confused about his statement. With a puzzled look on her face she stared at him, biting her lower lip.

"And you can do this because now you're Superman?

Phil grinned-she hadn't seen. This would be good. Across the street, a bike leaning against a wall would slowly rise into the air-his telekinesis wasn't as strong as the light. Shortly afterwards, small pockets of blue light started popping up around the bike's frame, and Phil felt the bike lighten as he used his light to levitate the bike several feet into the air. People on the street were stopping and gawking at the strange phenomenon unfolding before them, but there was no evidence it was Phil behind it.

Almost as gently as the bike began floating, it was set down, and the lights faded out. "Not quite Superman...but I have my ways, at least."

After the bike set down, some people stayed behind, waiting to see if anything else would happen, but most proceeded with their day, one strange story richer. "I picked up a lot of tricks today...I lost yours though. You can keep it though. That one's yours. You deserve to be unique in that."

Was that smooth or kind of lame? Could go either way, really...well, it's been said, I can't take it back, that's that. Phil turned back to look at Leila and gauge her reaction-she hadn't seen most of the fight, so probably was a bit shocked. Or, she thought his line was super lame. "So whaddaya say? Bus or Winchester Air?"

Leila saw Phil look across the street and he seemed to be staring or concentrating on something, so her eyes followed. And there it was a bike rising in the air slowly and then some blue light started to appear around it. Leila stared in bewilderment at the occurring event. She didn't really know what to make of it. Two things she knew for sure was that one, Phil doing it, and two, it gave her goosebumps. The goosebumps you get when you watch a magic show or look at the stars through a telescope. As the people began to clutter around the bike and stare in awe, Leila's mood changed and she got a little worried and scooted over. "I see. You didn't have to do that. Telling me would have been enough for me."

She listened to him talk and he sounded weird when he said she deserved to be unique in that, but in it's own right kinda sweet. She nodded regardless and smiled. "Thank you, I think." She smiled again and bit her bottom lip. It was a habit of hers whenever she was thinking, and at the moment she was debating on his latest question. Bus or Winchester Air? Hmm, that is a good question. Although the bus is the way to travel when you want to be inconspicuous, but how often do you get to fly like a bird?

"Alright, well I suppose I could check out this Winchester Air. Not quite sure if it's the most reliable of sorts, but worth a shot. Just give me a moment." Leila looked up in the sky and the nearby trees to spot a bird. She hoped she could pull a sort of instinct the birds had to not be afraid of heights. She wasn't sure if it was possible, but it was worth a shot. On the street corner she saw a robin hopping along picking at some bread crumbs on the ground and so Leila focused on it. She felt something but it wasn't what she had hoped for, or at least she thought. She shrugged, "Ready."

Phil grinned-down the road, a car's door tried to open itself, in turn setting off the alarm. As the eyes of the pedestrians went to the car, Phil grabbed Leila's hand and ran with her down an alley. His distraction ensured that no one would be looking down the alley-which could have been bad, since they were about to take off.

Around both Phil and Leila, small pockets of light burst to life, soon covering their entire bodies in a dim blue glow. Almost immediately after, their feet left the ground. The pair rose quickly into the sky, easily clearing the building and rising higher and higher, piercing the clouds to come to rest above them.

Phil gasped-he hadn't really tried this before. Now that he had...wow. Today had turned overcast during the fight-from below, the cloud cover looked vaguely depressing. From above...it was like the ground was made out of a sea of white. The sky was perfectly blue, the sun was shining...from here, overcast was an amazing sight.

"Wow...I didn't expect it to look like this..."

Leila was pulled in the direction of an alley and they went running down it. The people on the street were distracted by a car alarm, which was caused by Phil she guessed.

Suddenly lights started to form around them and this sent Leila's heart racing, she was sure they would be alright. However the "What's the worst that could happen" question popped in her mind and she went a little pale. Through the clouds they went and Leila got a little damp from the moisture in the clouds. She wiped her face once they were above the clouds and had to shield her eyes against the sun's rays, but from what she could see the view was breath taking.

A little gasp escaped her mouth as she took in the scenery. It was a vast plain of snow- or so it seemed to Leila. She smiled and wiggled her arms and legs around and it was really great until she thought about how high up she was and then her stomach dropped. "Oh crap...You're sure that..uhm, it's not gonna wear off or anything? Y'know the whole "light" thing?" As she spoke she used air quotes because she wasn't sure how to describe the light. It was light, but how did it have a physical capacity to lift anything up? Or was it physical at all? She didn't know, all she knew now was she was beginning to freak out.

Leila had reason to be frightened-Phil hadn't attempted this yet. He had only slightly levitated before, and even then, it was only him...now that Leila was expressing her concerns, Phil realized that he probably jumped the gun a bit.

"Uh...that's a good question...the animal stuff faded...umm...yea."

The two would start a rapid, but controlled descent back to the park-it wasn't safe to do that stuff while Phil was still unsure of his powers. As they approached the ground, their descent would slow down until they were barely moving, and then their bodies would right themselves just in time to gently touch down on the ground.

"Sorry about that...I realized that it probably wasn't very safe to do that when I still had no idea what I was doing."

Luckily, however, they were near Phil's car. He pointed to the vehicle and smiled. "Not exactly Winchester Air, but I've still got free transportation if you're interested."

Leila's eyes widened and the pit in her stomach only got bigger when Phil's reply wasn't real exciting to hear. She didn't know when he had gotten his power in the first place and the thought of it wearing off like before really frightened her.

When they started to descend she couldn't help letting out a squeal. The feeling of falling wasn't the greatest and it was sudden- he hadn't given her a warning. Once they touched the ground though she felt much better to have the earth beneath her feet. Since they landed in the parking lot near Phil's car she quickly glanced around to make sure that no one had seen them. Good, no one is around. That woulda been awkward to see two people landing..

"It's alright, but next time I would advise you to think a little more about using it before doing it." She shoved her hands in her pockets and swayed back and forth looking at Phil's car when he pointed. She nodded as she saw the sun start to descend lower and the light become dimmer. "I think that sounds fantastic."

Despite Phil using his new powers he got from who knows where and being near the park where some heavy stuff had gone down, she felt more relaxed.

-Timeskip to Home-

As Phil and Leila pulled up in front of the apartment, he stopped and thought over the events of the day-and more importantly, what would happen in the future. They had been given these gifts...so now what?

"Hey Leila...I know this might sound crazy...but...just having these powers isn't enough. There's a lot wrong with this city, and we can fix at least a little. So...we should. Whaddaya say?

Wanna be a superhero with me?
"

Probably not a request she had received many times before in the past. Phil was completely serious about this-they pretty much already WERE superheroes...they just were lacking the "hero" portion. What makes a hero though? Foiling a robbery? Signing babies, kissing pictures? There's a lot to think about, I guess.

"You don't have to answer right now. You have my number. We can...we can think about it."

Phil stopped outside of the apartment complex and sat quiet for a few moments. Leila assumed he was thinking about the day and sat quietly, thinking to herself. Before any serious concentration had happened Phil asked her a question that was a little out in left field, but not quite out of the ball park.

Superhero? Like...in the comic books? Superman? Batman? Spiderman? Seriously? Leila's heart felt like it was going to pound out of her chest. Was this really happening? It was the first time she had thought about it like that. It was... exhilarating. A Superhero; the girl who worked at a small diner and dropped out of college, living in an apartment by herself with her cat a Superhero?

Leila couldn't help but laugh at the thought. "You know I'll...think about it." Maybe Leila got out of the car and just before she closed the door she leaned over and asked, "So, how about that Chinese we never ate?"

Phil smiled and nodded. Chinese always sounded good. Especially now that they wouldn't be freaked out if the cat started discussing politics or something.

Phil led the way up to Leila's apartment and stopped short-he wanted to try something. His eyes closed as he held his hand over Leila's doorknob. He pushed around with his mind, testing the various mechanisms inside the handle-he opened his eyes as a click could be heard. Leila's door slid open slowly, the light-switch flipped on, and Phil looked back at Leila and smiled-this new power of his could be fun.

Phil walked in and "accidentally" stopped short, brushing against Leila as he did so. He continued his pace into the apartment and looked around for the cat-he wasn't sure exactly where it was, but he figured it might pop up soon.

"Heeeeere kitty kitty kitty."

Glad that Phil agreed to come up with her, Leila trotted right on up the stairs up to her door. She pulled the key out of her pocket but Phil had already beaten her to unlocking the lock. She shook her head and tried not to smile, giving him the satisfaction she thought he sought. Like a kid with a new toy.

As they walked into her apartment Phil brushed up against her- stopping short. She attempted to shrug the feelings she felt off of her sleeves for the moment being. It sort of worked, kinda like when you spray a cat with a bottle of water- it stops it at that moment but it doesn't keep it from getting into your petunias all the time. Walking past him she plopped herself right on the couch, grabbing the Chinese menu off of the table.

"What did you want?" She looked up at Phil but he was calling for Rosco. She looked around for the feline and saw him walking from the hallway. Leila chuckled at Rosco's reply to Phil's greeting:

"Really? Kitty kitty kitty?" He stopped a few feet from Phil and turned his head over to Leila. "Really?" He bounded over to her and hopped onto her lap purring.

Without hesitation, Phil answered the cat-he felt no shame in speaking to an animal as if it were human. Not after today. He was really getting used to this idea. "Yes, really. How've you been since last time?"

Phil walked over to the pair and sat next to Leila, reaching over to pet Rosco in the process. He briefly wondered which one of the cat's attributes he had at the moment...he hadn't really been thinking about it. Oh well.

"Uh...go ahead and surprise me, actually. I can eat pretty much anything right now, I'm starved."

Rosco flicked his tail back and forth and purred softly, enjoying the company of his beloved owner. His oval-shaped eyes quickly became thin slits as he closed his eyes in relaxation. Leila chuckled and kissed him on the head- she still treated him as though he were her little kitty.

"I'm well. My life as a cat isn't nearly as exciting and adventurous as yours is."

As Phil took a seat on the couch Leila grabbed her phone and dialed the number for the Chinese place. She ordered some of the stuff she ate all the time that was pretty good and hung up. "It'll be about 30 to 45 minutes for delivery." Now all they had to do was wait- wait in the awkward silence that was bound to come up.

Why did I ask him to come up? Why oh why? There I was on the verge of freedom from all that had happened today and I friggin invited him for Chinese? The hell Leila?! She sighed loudly and grabbed Rosco and placed him on Phil's lap. "Thirsty? Walking into the kitchen she opened up the fridge and grabbed a Pepsi from the drawer.

Phil called after Leila that yes, he was indeed thirsty. He debated experimenting again with his powers to get his own drink, but decided that it would be kind of a waste. Of what? Energy? This stuff doesn't exhaust me as long as I keep it small.

Phil simply kept petting Rosco, while wondering which trait of the cat's he had picked up. It wasn't sensory, that was for sure. He'd have to experiment later. In any case, he was a bit stumped. He was here in her apartment again, he doubted that he was going to run away this time...and they had thirty minutes to spare before the food got here. What to do, what to do?

"Hey, uh...how do you feel? About today and all the stuff that happened, I mean? Cuz it was kind of a rough day, yano?"

Not much in the way of conversation, but it would at least avoid the awkward silence that Phil feared. "And what about you? I'm sure it's not exactly every day procedure for you to suddenly be able to talk to people."

Leila grabbed a Pepsi for Phil before she walked back to the living room. She plopped herself on the couch yet again and patted her lap so Rosco knew he was welcome to take a seat there. Sipping on her drink she flipped the television on but put it on something not very interesting and low volume.

"I'm alright I suppose. It was a lot to take in and I'm not really sure of what happened, but I'm alive and not in some weird different dimension." She took a breath and chuckled at the thought. "Though you would think we were.."

Rosco clambered onto Leila's lap and curled up. As Phil spoke to him he flicked his tail and turned to look at him. "Actually it is an every day procedure, however you humans can't understand me. Though it is a bit odd for it to happen now. If you must know, it's fun."

Phil nodded and laid back on the couch. This place definitely didn't feel like it had a week ago, that was for sure. People were throwing light around, moving things with their minds, speaking without opening their mouths, speaking to animals...it was crazy.

And who knew, maybe someone out there really COULD travel between dimensions or something.

In any case, that stuff had happened, and Phil planned to take full advantage of his newfound abilities. Or at least, he was going to start collecting. But then after they were collected...then what? The superhero idea was a good one, but...that was dangerous.

"Yano...I think you'd be safe out there if we worked together. Your power hasn't really shown much combat use, but...I mean, I'm more than enough for both of us."

Unfortunately, that made it sound like Leila would end up being Phil's sidekick-and he was sure that wasn't what she wanted. She needed to branch out, explore things...she needed more powers. Phil didn't know how to solve that problem though.

"That girl we met today had a lot of powers...I bet they didn't all pop up at once. You might have more stuff that hasn't woken up yet."
