Suddenly it clicked. Leila furrowed her brow and the questions came pouring into her mind though, none really stuck out like the one that was up front. "You have a power, but...its not the same as mine is it?" She turned to look at Phil and waited for a reply. For some reason she had always assumed it was the same as hers because he had heard Rosco like her, but only after... Did he have this power before me? Why would he freak out at me if he had a power himself? Maybe he didn't know...maybe it was new to him just like it was to me. I don't think it's the same as mine though. It only happened to him AFTER we...eh. Leila tried hard not to appear too disgruntled with her finding, so she turned and faced out the window seeing that they were nearing the park. Doesn't matter. We'll find out soon enough. |

Oops...said a little too much. Phil looked at Leila quickly, then back at the road. To be honest...he didn't know if he had a power. Maybe it was part of Leila's power to make people around her able to talk to animals too. Still though, it was only HIM feeling the sparks. "I might have one. A few days before I met you, there was this woman. I thought she was crazy, she kept going on about how I needed to find the most special people I could, and as many of them as I could...I thought she was crazy, but for some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was actually thinking about it when we met. And then when we...touched, I could hear animals too. And then there was that light thing." Of course, Phil had been doing a bit of research himself-he scoured the internet for information about magic, animal talkers, things of that nature. He had eventually been led to Aquaman-which made him think of superpowers. So, he began searching for superpowers. And even though most of what he found were things like tv shows, arguments over whether Wolverine could beat The Hulk, and crappy forums, they provided him with a great deal of information-but there was only one first hand source he knew. "I think you can talk to animals, and be animal-like. It would explain things getting brighter for me, and sounding louder for you. As for me...she said to find as many special people as I could. For a while, I thought that you made me hear those animals. After I thought about what that woman said though, I more thought that it might have been me. I think I can copy people. At least, for a little while." |

As Phil began to reply Leila turned to him finding his answer quite interesting. This all seemed so surreal. Superpowers? Chance meetings? Crazy, old ladies? Well the latter of those thoughts wasn't so unusual. "So this old woman says you need to find special people and you do it? That's a bit strange...then again this whole situation is strange. Anyways, so you think that copying is an ability?" Leila sighed and ran her hands through her hair. All of this is confusing and frustrating. How did this all happen in the first place? Maybe...that day? Should she tell him? It would clear up some things or maybe just make it more messy. Later was starting to sound really good. "My power sounds kinda lame when you say it like that. Woo, talking to animals, ha ha." She honestly did find it silly. She hoped that Phil wouldn't think she was mocking him or not taking any of this seriously, because she was listening to everything he was saying. She was just a tad skeptical. Who wouldn't be? |

"Well it's not like I was actively seeking them. You kinda just popped into my life. Of course, if he was right, that was likely to change-he needed more. And the only way for him to get more was to meet more. His path was obvious. "Yea, Aquaman is pretty much the lamest superhero out there...sorry..." With that, Phil parked the car and got out. There were here. And, things were already off to a good start. The birds were singing-actually, they were just talking to each other. Phil could understand them. "I can understand the birds." |

This was true. Leila had just happened into his life, that one day at the diner followed by...events. She hoped that once this was all done and over with that they could still maintain a friendship at the least. At the moment they were both so overwhelmed with curiosity that she wondered if that was the only thing keeping them together. Aquaman indeed is a lame Superhero. Guess I wont be doing much saving then. However unconvincing she might have led it to be, Leila wasn't completely unhappy with the newfound power. She loved animals-plain and simple. Phil pulled up into the park and when they parked Leila got out and leaned against the car. Phil said he could hear the birds, so Leila tried to hear them too. Straining her ears, or so she thought she focused on the birds above her and there she could hear a conversation-simple, but a conversation nonetheless. "Me too. So that means that by touch you can "absorb" my powers? Well, anyone's powers I suppose." Leila sighed and started walking. Out of habit she walked the path that led to her favorite place. At the moment it felt very inviting. |

Phil walked next to Leila, listening carefully to the birds. The animals around them didn't seem too afraid...maybe... "Squirrel. Come here." The nearest squirrel reacted, and came running to the sound of Phil's voice. He hadn't commanded it-not in a strictly "I cannot resist" kind of way-it was just that the squirrel answered him, and complied with his demands. That's pretty damn cool. Phil reached down and touched the squirrel's tail, then closed his eyes. When he opened them, the world was noticeably sharper-he had acquired the squirrel's eyesight. "Don't get too disappointed. You can do some things Aquaman couldn't." The squirrel ran off, leaving the pair alone. Phil studied Leila's face with his now enhanced vision. She seemed prettier than before. "Well...I can't tell whether or not my power works on other people...mainly because you're the only one I know with a power...so...yea...but that's what I THINK, at least." |

Leila smiled and continued walking. She wondered since talking wasn't the only thing she could do what other powers lay dormant. She could still hear the birds chatting about which was nice. Ever since she was a little girl she always wondered if they birds were as happy as they sounded. With this couple she listened to it remained true. What'd you nab from that squirrel?" She turned to look at Phil a little more comfortable around him knowing he had the same power-for the time being. As they neared the spot she looked around for another animal that she could experiment with and found a rabbit. With those ears, why not? And with that Leila could hear quite a bit more than normal including the sound of her heartbeat. It wasn't incredibly loud, but it was audible. "That's cool. Yano...having more than one power. Wonder why it's important to find as many as you can." |

Alairis was getting quite a bit of information out of these too. Not only about their seemingly new found abilities, but about some of their doubts and feelings. She felt a little sorry for them, getting tossed into this new world that she had been living in for some time. She continued to listen to them as she hovered high. She was sitting on a block of light hidden in some white puffy clouds that happened to be hanging low in the sky. She had something of a view of them, sorta. Mostly she was just sitting up there with her eyes closed and her mind locked on theirs. This mind reading ability of her’s was scary useful. It made her a little sad though. Haunting these newbies. It reminded her of her friends that she had lost. Some just plain disappeared, while others… well they weren’t coming back. She took a deep, sad breath. It was time to talk to them. ‘Be wary, young ones… the waters you enter are far from harmless…’ Her thoughts reached out to the pair in the park. Her 'voice' taking on a deep, echo-ish quality as it reverberated through their minds. |

Phil snapped around, looking for the speaker-there was none, however. That's weird...and why does she talk like a jedi...21st century, hellooo. He looked back at Leila after confirming that, yes, there was no one here. "Did you hear that?" This was all happening a bit too quickly-only yesterday, he thought the world was normal, and completely free of strange people who could talk to animals and take other people's powers, and pretend like they were in the fifteenth century or Mufasa or something without being seen. Now though...now he knew. There were things out there that Phil had never thought of before. "Show yourself!" |

Leila stopped in her tracks with a perplexed look on her face as a strange echoed voice entered her mind. An animal? No way...it can't be. She turned around slowly and twisting her head this way and that she was sure that no one else was around with the exception of Phil. "Yeah I did..and I'm pretty positive that wasn't an animal." What did they mean by the waters we are entering are far from harmless? Although it was strange, Leila had been through enough to not be completely thrown out of her wits. She frowned and walked towards Phil still glancing about to see if she could glimpse a figure. Wait...the voice came into my mind so does that mean...? No way. Someone who is telepathic? Even though Leila wasn't the typical comic nerd, she had watched a few shows that she was somewhat knowledgeable about "Superpowers". As Phil yelled out at this voice to show itself, Leila waited anxiously to see who or what would appear. |

The girl was pretty quick to catch on; Alairis would give her points for that. She watch the two from their own minds as she smiled. Rolling her eyes a bit at the boy. ‘Psh, Like I’d show myself when your being so demanding…’ Alairis cracked her knuckles a bit while she let them settle down while she used her normal ‘voice’. ‘No need for you to shout either, Phil. I can hear you just fine and you’ll only look the fool shouting at no one.’ ‘You’re right, Miss Leila.’ She said with a pleasant ‘tone’. Of course she didn’t exactly say what the girl was right too. She were just have to figure that out for herself. |

Phil sighed and sat down next to Leila. Fine. Show yourself *please*. Phil breathed a little easier-at least Leila could hear it too. Unfortunately, Phil could tell that his power was fading-the world was getting duller, less detailed. Phil needed to get a new power, and soon. Preferably one a bit more useful than the one he kept borrowing from Leila too. Also, being able to keep a power for more than a few moments might be nice as well. Phil lowered his tone, so to any passing people, it would seem like he was speaking to Leila, and not just sitting there silently. "So, what? You have super hearing or something? And you can speak to our heads...telepathic? You're invisible too? Do you absorb powers like I do?" Phil had no idea where this individual was, but wherever she was, he didn't like it. He did not enjoy being spied on, especially not when he knew it was happening. |

Leila found this slightly amusing and chuckled softly. The voice...or rather the person had a sense of humor. Though what puzzled her was that she knew their names- at least the voice sounded feminine. She sat down on a nearby bench next to Phil and wondered what would happen next. What can a telepath do again? Crap! I knew I shoulda paid more attention to those tv shows.. Leila sighed and kept looking around for someone who wasn't there. When Phil spoke Leila's eyes got wide, but then she laghed softly. So...you can hear me when I'm talking to myself. That's a little awkward. Uh, thank you for whatever I was right about. Leila shrugged waited for the person to respond. Phil had asked they were invisible and Leila had wondered the same thing. |

Alairis chuckled out loud. ‘Touchy, touchy.’ Phil sure was quite a bit more aggressive about the situation than she had expected. Perhaps it was quite a good thing she as far out of his reach. She figured it would be considerate of her to at least answer some of his questions. ‘I’ll show myself when I feel its safe enough.’ She admitted to him. ‘Yes, I am telepathic. No, I’m not invisible. I’m just not exactly in the park.” She didn’t think he was quite ready to grasp exactly where she was. He’d find out soon enough anyway, if they settled down a little more. ‘No, the absorbsion power is a new one on me. Haven’t seen it before.’ She giggled a bit at Leila. She was taking things far better than her boy there. She directed her thoughts to the girl. ‘You’re welcome, and I am a bit sorry about eavesdropping. It wasn’t my intent. Eh, its kinda a norm for me. I’ve stumbled on to faar weirder things than your ramblings.” Alairis was liking Leila, even if she had sorta invaded the girl’s mind. |

What do you have to be afraid of? The animal twins? Phil was working through things in his head. She wasn't invisible, she wasn't "exactly" in the park, but she knew they were in the park, so it wasn't a matter of her simply hearing their thoughts from miles away. She was close, just not close enough. Phil reached over and held Leila's hand. He needed her power again-though, this time he'd take something perhaps more useful from a different animal. After the usual spark that only he could apparently feel, Phil spoke to the various birds around him, and asked them if they could go look for anyone hanging around. They would disperse, keeping their eyes open for anything out of the ordinary. In the meantime, he would search the area for a dog. Any dog would do-he only needed their sense of smell. This was a park, after all-there were bound to be dogs around. "Puppies...any puppies out there...come here, I wanna pet you." |

It's alright. I mean what can I do- not think? No offense. Having the ability to eavesdrop on anyone...I'm sure you have heard weirder. A large grin spread across Leila's face. This was pleasant indeed, though still a little odd. What did this person have to be afraid of? Leila was far from a threat. She barley knew what she was capable of and even if she did...remember Aquaman was hardly "threatening". From how the girl talked she sounded like she knew far more than Leila or Phil did. So you know my name, but I don't know yours. And you obviously are a lot more informed about these...powers. Care to share? Leila wanted to be polite but she was just so darn curious it probably came out a little blunt. Phil 'spoke' to the animals around by touching her hand. She pulled back and leaned on the armrest on the bench, looking to see if any puppies would respond. "Puppies? |

Alairis was starting to feel comfortable enough with the situation that she thought about introducing herself in person. It was a bit rude for her to be doing this long distance ‘voice’ call, she guessed. ‘At least you realize that.’ She chuckled Leila. ‘It’s funny when people try to not think.’ ‘I’m wary of all new supers.’ She said to them both. ‘Been attacked by too many.’ Which brought her back to the most important reason she’d followed these two. ‘Yes, I intend to share. That’s why I followed you too. It’s dangerous being new to our… sort of people.’ Alairis stood up on her board and looked down at the park below. It was still hard to see them physical, but she still knew exactly where they were. ‘I’m coming down~ Kowabunga!’ With that Alairis shifted her weight forward and tilted her board into a nose dive. Arms spread wide until she crouched down onto her board, feeling the rush of the wind beating against her body. It was such a thrill. She could never get enough of flying. It was just so free. No boundaries to hold her back. Birds really had the good life. She drove toward the ground, right near the couple. She hadn’t sensed any other beings about, so felt confident enough to make a grand entrance. She pulled up out of her dive just at the last moment. Slowing her decent with her power to make a smooth and gentle landing on the ground. Alairis wore her mask right now. As she always did when she went flying. Just in case you know. Alairis held up her hand in greeting. “Yo.” She said with a big grin. ‘You can call me Alairis, or Illuminatra when I’m in costume.’ |

Phil was alerted to something in the sky by the birds-so he wasn't super shocked when Alairis descended. That didn't keep him from thinking, however, about how awesome flying must have been. Phil stood up at Alairis' arrival. He didn't know why-it was instinctual. He felt like he wanted to flee, and that he should be very alert-he looked behind him to see that a squirrel near him had decided on the same thing. Seriously? I acquired it's skittishness? How lame is that?! Luckily, at that moment, a dog with a frisbee approached. Phil scratched the dog on the head, then sent it on it's way. With that, the squirrel's skittishness vanished, and was replaced by an overpowering urge to play. Phil had to fight his absolute hardest to ignore it. "Nice to meet you. I guess...so...what's that stuff you're flying on?" |

So it was a girl. Good. Her outfit was a little odd, like something out of a TV show- go figure. It all seemed surreal when the girl landed on the ground and waved like it was nothing. Leila smiled however and waved as well, "Yo, indeed." Leila took note of her name. Sighing she rubbed her face and as the dog trotted up to Phil she said a hello and goodbye to the canine. Patting its head as it walked by she thought it would be a good idea to focus on taking its hearing- so any eavesdroppers would be caught. It would be awkward if anyone heard this conversation we're having. "That's a good question. I was wondering that too. You can fly AND read minds?" |

Alairis got a good chuckle at Phil’s reaction, both physical and mental. While you could have quite the awesome powers, they weren’t without their hm… quirks? “Nice to meet face to face.” She agreed with a nod. It was a lot better actually seeing them in person while talking to them, rather than doing it second person-ish. Alairis snapped her fingers at the boy’s question as her board burst apart into balls of light of all sizes. The littlest ones simply vanished while three good sized ones floated up to her hand. Hovering over her open palm as they circle and wove around each other. Her eyes locked more on Phil as she was being quite ornery. Purposely letting the balls fly tauntingly over her hand as they were roughly tennis ball size. Wondering if he’d be able to resist the temptation he’s acquired from the dog. “I’m a light manipulator.” She said proudly. She smiled at Leila and winked at her. “Among other things.” Alairis had a really unique set of skills, even in the world of supers, but they would find that out sooner or later. She was more interested in talking to them than about herself. |
