Phil stood up with her, then stopped as she seemed to try to explain something. "Go on." Phil seemed genuinely interested in whatever she had to say. To be honest, he wasn't entirely ready for the night to end either, but it really was getting late, and he had work in the morning. Still though, there was time for a bit more talking. "You were saying something about earlier?" Phil walked around to stand in front of her, maintaining eye contact all the while. She was reluctant about something-that much was obvious. "I'm listening." |

Leila was a little surprised that he was willing to listen and felt more at ease. She relaxed a little and took a breath before beginning the outlandish explanation. "Earlier, when the duck came up to us, I could've sworn that it...well...said something to me." Hearing herself saying it out loud sounded really crazy and she shook her head and put her hands to her face. She was so embarrassed. She actually laughed at herself- it made her feel better. "It sounds crazy I know. But that's what I heard." |

Phil laughed. Well, nevermind about the sanity. Oh well...she's still cute. Phil shook his head and walked away, looking back over his shoulder as he left. "You comin or what?" He'd pretend to walk away, but he was walking slowly-easy to catch up to. Regardless of whether or not this girl thought she could talk to ducks, he wasn't entirely driven away from her yet. "Maybe it really was hungry. Who knows?" Well...what room do I have to judge? I'm looking for "special" people because some old fortune-teller told me to, and I don't even know what "special" means. Maybe it was just one of those lame "cover any possible occurrence by being very vague" fortunes. Everyone's special, in their own way. I guess. That's probably all she meant. Try as he might, he just couldn't bring himself to believe that. "Are you hungry?" |

Leila sighed and rubbed her head. "I know crazy right?" She had hoped he would've been more understanding, but she didn't know him well enough. Oh well. Maybe it's just been a really long day. Leila caught up to him and looked down at the sidewalk as they headed back. She could only imagine the awkward ride home or the jokes he'd be telling tomorrow to his friends. A girl who could talk to ducks, terrific. "Yeah a bit. Maybe that's what made me hear it. Ah nevermind. It's silly." Leila sighed heavily and tried not to think about it too much. "Why do you ask?" As she walked her head swarmed with thoughts of what it could be and as a result she swayed a little, accidentally bumping into Phil from time to time. |

"Well, cuz the night's still not completely over. I don't wanna take you home on an empty stomach. Any ideas where you wanna eat?" Phil took notice of her bumping into him-he tried to act aloof to it, but he was contemplating putting his arm around her. It's almost like she was asking for it. I probably could have handled that better back there...she probably thinks I think she's crazy. Well, ok, maybe I do think she's a little crazy, but there's no reason for her to know that. As the pair approached his car, he opened Leila's door for her. Maybe I can make up for it by being polite enough. Phil walked around to the other side and got in, started the ignition, and sat there, waiting for some kind of indication of where to go. "I can eat pretty much anything, myself. Chinese is a favorite though. Hint hint." |

Leila smiled. The night hadn't completely been ruined by her outrageous story. Part of her hoped she could just forget about it but part of her really wanted to know what happened. She didn't want to believe it was just a lack of food or a long day. "I'm not too picky. Just hungry." As he opened the door for her Leila couldn't help but let a little smile creep onto her face. Playing the gentleman. I can go along with this. She buckled up and put her hands on her knees and looked at Phil. This was really feeling like the movies. She was beginning to wonder if it would end that way. "Sorry about what I said earlier. Chinese sounds amazing. A restaurant or are we ordering in?" |

"It's up to you. We could go to a restaurant, or go back to your place and watch a movie and order some chinese there. Or my place, but there's no tv there." Admittedly, it was sounding an awful lot like Phil was just desperate. He really wasn't, but it was a little late to fix his wording. "Either way, I know a pretty good place. They're sit down, but they do take out too, so it works out pretty well." Phil backed out of their parking spot and started to drive, then hit the breaks almost immediately. A form then flew away from the front of the car. "Damn duck...almost got himself run over...sorry bout that." Phil shook his head and started to go again, pulling out of the park and heading back towards town. Both the restaurant and Leila's place were in that direction, so it worked out nicely. "Have you ever thought you heard an animal talking to you before?" |

"Let's go to my place. That way we have options and you won't have to worry about driving me back home." Leila looked out of the window. Her mind raced with thoughts of ifs and buts and hows, but no answers. Maybe tomorrow I'll look into it. I'm off so I've got time to. "Alrighty, Chinese it is at my place. We can get the take out there and I've got plenty of movies to choose from at home. This day went quite differently than I had expected, though still playing like a movie. Don't you think?" As Phil started to drive he hit the brakes. Even though he wasn't going very fast it was still hitting the brakes suddenly and Leila lurched forward. She got a little dizzy, but she laughed when he spoke. It was nice to know that she could still laugh about that silly duck. But then, his question caught her off guard. She thought they had finished talking about it. "No not really. It just happened today.." What about that day? Could that have a connection somehow? |

"Well, if you were crazy, it probably would have happened earlier too. Now we just know that it's been a weird day for you." Phil drove back to Leila's place, without much consequence. It started raining again on the way back, but not as bad as before. Phil parked as close to her apartment as he could, and then got ready to run. He turned off the car and opened the door slightly, locking it as it was still only slightly open-this would have to be timed well. "Ready to run?" After getting his answer, Phil would swing the door open, swing it back shut, and run over to the stairs, where the overhang prevented the rain from hitting him. He waited for Leila to make it over to him before letting her lead the way back up. "This weather's starting to bug me, yano?" |

Leila turned and looked at him. One minute he was laughing, the next he was trying to make sense of it. It didn't really matter anymore what his intentions were, if he could help her figure it out then she was alright with it. "That's true. I hope it has just been a long day. A good, long day." She laughed and leaned up against the car door, rain beginning to patter on the window. As Phil pulled up into the complex it was pouring rain- she couldn't believe the timing. She looked at him and he opened his door slightly, locking it so he wouldn't have to do so once he got out. Copying him, she nodded when he asked if she was ready to run. And out she bolted when he did. She laughed as the cold rain hit her shoulders and her shoes got soaked in the puddles. Her hair was dripping wet and she wiped her face off as best she could. "Yes I agree. Rain and then none. Then rain." She stood there for a moment under the tiny overhang and twisted the bottom of her shirt to get some of the water out. "Alright upstairs we go!" She unlocked the door to her apartment and quickly went to grab a few towels for them to dry off. |

While he was waiting, Phil pulled out his phone and ordered the food. He wasn't sure what Leila wanted, so he got a little of everything. There was spicy stuff coming, beef, chicken, rice, noodles, etc. Phil wasn't too worried about the leftovers. He'd just bring it home with him, most likely. Phil looked around for the cat again-he figured it'd be just as friendly as before, but initially, he couldn't see it anywhere. "Here, kitty kitty kitty." |

Leila came back in with two towels and tossed one on the couch for Phil to used if he so wished. She dried off her hair and shoulders and sat down on the couch. "Alright, food is on its way so now we need to grab a movie and I think we're set." As Phil called for Rosco, she noticed that he hadn't come out to greet her as usual. "Rosco. Rosco." Shortly after came the jingling of his charm as Rosco came bounding down the hallway- he must've been catnapping. As he walked up to her, she bent down and scratched his ears and back and he began to purr softly. She smiled and then he meowed. It's about time you got back. I got tired of waiting and took a nap. Leila's eyes widened and she practically fell over. Again? Alright, something is definitely up. |

Phil was in the process of drying off when Leila apparently lost her balance or something. "You alright?" Phil kneeled next to Leila and Rosco, petting the cat as he glanced over at Leila. She had just been petting her cat when she got that weird look on her face and almost fell over. Is she hearing things again? Phil stood up next to her and offered his arm, should she want help getting back up. He wasn't entirely sure what was up with her, but she should at least get off the ground, ne? "You up to a movie? You look kind of sick." |

"Yeah I'm alright. Just lost my balance. I'm a complete klutz." Leila smiled and gladly took the offered arm and stood up. She didn't want to bring it up right now. Maybe during the movie. Leila walked over to her TV stand and fumbled through the movie casings. "I'm definitely up for a movie. Like I said, i just lost my balance. So what're you in the mood for? Action? Comedy? Horror...er well no, not horror." Leila was not going to offer up a Romance movie. After they decided on a movie she'd sit down on the couch and pat the seat cushion next to her, letting Phil know that he needed to take a seat before she started the movie. Rosco too would sit on the couch above their heads. |

Phil searched through Leila's selection for a few seconds before pulling out a favorite-X-men. He'd put the movie in and sit next to her as the movie started, leaning back and hoping that she'd lean against him. He always liked X-men-he never had to choose a power. Everyone in X-men was strong, regardless of how pointless their power seemed. For instance, Toad, the guy who...well, mimicked toads. Sure, he wasn't the best, but he did occasionally kick some ass. Phil could appreciate that. "You do like this one, right?" |

As Phil sat down beside her and Rosco perched himself behind them Leila sat Indian style and crossed her arms. She leaned her head back and scratched Rosco on the head as he purred softly with his eyes closed. I wonder... Leila meowed. Kinda like saying, "Hey". Rosco's eyes popped open and he peered down at her. "Yes?" was his reply- though it came out as the usual "meow". Leila's eyes widened and she smirked. She shook her head and turned back to watch the movie. I think...I can talk to animals. It's weird...very weird, but neat. Though, how is this possible? A million questions poured into her head but were quickly interrupted by a question. "Oh yes. I love this movie. I haven't seen it in a while though." Leila smiled and she felt real good for the first time about this whole situation. She felt like she had a grasp at what it was, even if it didn't make any sense. Her heart was pounding and it was sensational. She sighed and leaned her head on Phil's shoulder. "This has indeed been a very long day." |

Did she just...yea...she just meowed...well...I guess her quirks are cute, at least. Could be worse. Phil put the fact that Leila just meowed out of his mind and instead chose to focus on the fact that she was indeed leaning her head against his shoulder. He could feel her heart pounding-was she nervous about this? Phil wrapped his arm around Leila and leaned his head against hers. This was comfortable. It was a good movie, there was food on the way...it was hard to believe he had just met this girl today, but there it was. "Hey...Leila..." Phil looked down at Leila, waiting for her to answer-waiting for his chance to strike. |

Leila had been so wrapped up in her thoughts that she didn't fully realize the position she put herself in. When Phil wrapped his arm around her she suddenly snapped back and her heart kept racing, though for a different reason now. As comfy as his shoulder was, it made her feel a little anxious and nervous. It had been quite some time since she'd been on a date and actually did more than just drink some coffee and a walk home. She turned her head slightly, but looked more with her eyes when he said her name, "Yes?" She couldn't move a muscle, she was too tense to. She felt so silly acting like it was her first date out or something, regardless if she had just met the guy today. She had shown some real guts earlier today and now she was quivering like a scared rabbit. And now what? |

Phil wouldn't answer her. Not verbally, anyways. His face met Leila's, and he stole a kiss. He had kissed worse girls in his life, that was for sure. This particular kiss was made more interesting by the little static shock he got from it-that didn't happen too often. When he pulled away, he half expected a second kiss and half expected a slap to the face-either one wouldn't have really been that shocking. "I've had a really great time today." For some reason, the room seemed brighter around him. He attributed it to a scene in the movie, but when he looked at the tv, he saw that the scene was rather dark. That's weird...no lights on outside either. No extra lights in here...how strange. |

Leila's face turned bright red as Phil leaned in and stole a kiss from her. It wasn't the first kiss that had been stolen. Many weren't pleasant at all and some had been amusing, though different ways to react still raced through her mind. Should she slap him? Kiss him back? Remain motionless and do nothing? Should she say something? Calm down. OK. Think, how would you normally react without all of this weirdness going on? A small smile appeared on her face and she kissed him back. This kiss wasn't a surprise like the last one so it was better and not as awkward. Leila was proud of herself and her stomach was doing flips and all the usual reactions were happening...except for one. "What are you two doing?!" Rosco hissed behind them. His hackles were standing on end and his eyes were wide and ears pinned back. Leila quickly pulled back and and annoyed by the outburst instinctively replied with, "What does it look like?" Oops.. |
