In a quaint neighborhood about three miles from where Phil lived, there stood a house, painted a light blue, standing silent and empty. Ben Pizelli lived here, and it was here that he fell asleep last night-though it wasn't where he woke up. Phil, as Impulse, led the way to the house and descended in a rapid pace from the clouds, seeking to minimize the chances of being discovered by onlookers. He'd land in the backyard and would wait for the others to arrive before continuing inward to search for clues about his friend's disappearance. He started thinking about the process of mentally unlocking Ben's house and stopped-it was so easy. Another special with a power like his, or maybe one like GL's would have no trouble at all in silently infiltrating someone's home. Just add in the wrong intentions to the mix...Impulse shuddered at the thought. He knew firsthand what a telekinetic was capable of-he himself had done some fairly unsavory things. I need to speed this up. |

Alairis followed Impulse. Doing her best to remain unseen as they zipped to the ground. The bonus of white clothing against clouds. The green dude, however, he stuck out like… well a green thumb she imagined. The house was pretty much like any other house. Letting Impulse lead the way, she would search the surrounding area mentally. Even tapping into any neighbor’s thoughts if they even thought anything connected to Ben or his family. If they proved to have nothing of interest, she’d skim right on by them. |

Iron Lantern landed, his armor unassamebling and compressing to form a very high-tech looking watch and belt, and approached the home alongside the other two heroes. Is anybody home? he asked the mind readers as he approached the door. He reached out technopathically to any security system that might be in place, and would tell it to deactivate, if that was the case. He would use magnetism to unlock the door and allow it to open, once that was all done. Let's start looking for clues. |

After Impulse verified for GL that the place was empty, he'd prepare to unlock the door, only to find that the older special beat him to the punch. Probably for the best, since there WAS a security system in the house and Phil didn't know the password. As he entered the home, he took in a deep breath-obviously, he knew the building, it was the home of his best friend for the past 4 years. Ben's parents had moved out recently, buying their retirement present-a house-a good distance away. They had left the house to Ben. Over the past years, Phil couldn't count the number of times he'd been here...but this time was different. It felt eerie, as if something was wrong here. There were no strange residual emotions lying around like there were at THE house...Phil shuddered at the thought of that place...which implied that there was no struggle. "Ben's room is down the hall, last door on the left...be careful in there, it usually looks like a hurricane hit." Phil would remove his mask and other superhero attire, shoving it into his bag-he didn't feel right being Impulse in this place. He'd slowly make his way to the living room, reaching out with whatever powers he could think of to feel anything out of the ordinary. |

Alairis glanced curiously back at Lantern as he disassembled his costume, which was indeed just cool. “Nifty.” She said nodding towards his watch. That and for some reason she was pretty surprised to be face to face with a redhead. Not that it was all that important what color his hair was, it was just unexpected. Immediately he made her think he was Irish. Come on, green suit and redhaired? Granted it was like Irish 2.0 . Unlike her fellows, Alairis wasn’t all that sure about removing her mask. Not that she was afraid of them finding out her identity. It was just in a strange house, that something bad had likely happened. Hesitatnly she pushed her mask up under her hood. So it’d be easy to pull down at a moment’s notice. Inside it looked like Hurricane Ben had struck… many times over. She cringed as she glanced about. She wasn’t a neat freak by any means, but she liked stuff being put up at least. She flipped on a light so she wouldn’t fall and break her neck by accident. Cause that would really tick her off. |

James wandered through the debris, looking for any signs of a struggle. This all looked like it was normal mess- either from Ben or someone looking through his things. There were no signs of a violent conflict- he was probably taken in his sleep. Sure enough, the bedroom would reveal his bed had been half stripped, as if someone had scooped him up in his blanket while perfectly unconscious. James thought for a minute, looking around. Does Ben have a cell phone? he asked, trying to find one. It was somewhat unlikely Ben was sleeping with his phone on him when he was taken, but if he had, he could probably track the phone's current location. He looked over Ben's computer, as well. Maybe he could find a clue as to the boy's whereabouts on there? |

Phil shook his head and reached into his pocket, pulling forth Ben's phone. He had left it at Phil's house several days earlier and never got around to getting it back. He quickly mentally told James that he had Ben's phone and moved on with his part of the search. However, James would find a computer in Ben's room, complete with webcam. It was off, and had been off during the kidnapping, but for someone like James, that might not exactly matter. Phil kept his search of the house going-kitchen, living room, unused rooms...there was nothing out of the ordinary. His spirits were both lifted and dampened by this-if there weren't many clues, then it was possible this was a non-violent attack. If that was the case, Ben may very well have still been alive. Unfortunately, the less clues they found, the less likely they were to FIND Ben. He sighed and floated back to Ben's room, ready to begin a painstakingly long investigation. |

Alairis drifted from area to area. Scanning as best she could. Truly she didn’t know what she was looking for. She had never been to that place before and she didn’t know Ben all that well. So basically she was just looking for sighs of struggle or attack, or anything else she might be able to find. She was just another pair of eyes here. Her talents weren’t useful in this situation. |

James spotted the webcam and immediately interfaced with it, forcing it to boot up. So, my little friend he thought at the computer, Did you see anything helpful while you were resting? The computer monitor would kick on, displaying what looked like a live webcam feed. Only it was not live. Unfortunately, Ben's room was poorly lit during the kidnapping, so the kidnapper's face was obscured. However, what was useful was that the car parked outside was under a street light, and the license plate number was visible. They had the car that took Ben. James accessed the internet, using his technopathy to hack into the DMV database and find the address the car was registered to. One more second... he said as the data began decrypting. Only, something went wrong. His vision blurred as the interface went bright red and orange, a very complex firewall barring his path. It caused a feedback loop, knocking James backwards, temporarily stunned. And boy did it hurt. He would sit up after a minute. I KNOW the DMV doesn't have that sophisticated a firewall protecting regular people. I've done this before. He would stumble into Ben's kitchen and get a glass of water. So, then, my friends, would the Department of Motor Vehicles think this particular owner's identity is so important? |

"Government, maybe? I can't think of anyone else who's vehicles would be protected...even then, it's doubtful that they'd protect the vehicles themselves, since government vehicles aren't necessarily any one person's." His power's somewhat useful, I suppose...Damn techie. Phil prepared to get ready-he had the license plate number...and there was more than one way to skin a cat. If the computer couldn't yield results, then Phil at least knew who it might have been. Ironic, the fact that the information not given had proven more useful than the info they had. "But then...why the hell would they kidnap somebody?" |

Alairis watched in fascination as Lantern taped into the computer and replayed the kidnapping. Though it dawned on her… ‘I think I’m removing my webcam’ she realized. If it was that easy, somebody else could do it as well. Blinking in startlement, as he hit a seeming wall. Alairis hoped over to his side. Letting her hands hover around his head in some attempt to relieve the pain he felt, via her healing abilities. Phil pretty much said what she was thinking. It had to be somebody with connection and power. Not to mention probably some money. “Why else?” She said to them. “He’s worth something to somebody.” Very rarely did anyone kidnap just to kidnap. “The question is: what is it exactly they kidnapped him for? What does he have, or know, or who is he linked too that could make him valuable?” What Alairis didn't say was that she was afraid it was them. Her, Implulse, and the Green Lantern. |

Rubbing his head in pain, he said, I seem to recall a rather sloppy rookie crime fighter entering the scene of a crime in progress with his friend Ben poorly disguised. I don't suppose any government officials might want Big Ben to find the masked crime fighter? He could feel his neural impulses firing normally again, and rose to look over the computer. It could be the government. Or another techie like me. I've fought them before. They could just as easily mask the data rather than encrypt it, though. This trap seemed to be specifically designed to stop someone like me. Its a miracle I'm not dead. His armor would reassemble around him as he approached the window. i think I can find the car's current location using the city's security grid. One second. He commanded his blackberry to sweep the city's traffic camera grid for any instances of the previously discovered plate number. And sure enough, he found a series of matches, complete with time stamps. The car was last seen on the west side, parking outside of a warehouse on the West side. That's the best lead we have. If Phil and Ali were ready, he would lead the way to the warehouse. |

Phil didn't need to be told twice-it only took a few seconds for his bag to unzip and for his alter-ego to be donned once more-he didn't even use his hands. The nearest window opened wide and Impulse burst through, almost immediately rocketing straight up through the clouds, where he would wait for the others. It was time to hunt. -EXIT?- |

They had a lead, it was more than she thought they might get. Pulling down her mask, she quickly created her flying broom. Hoping aboard and zipping out the window after Impulse. Then shooting sky ward as fast as she could to avoid detection. -Exit? As well?- |
