After that mess with the Home Depot, Alairis managed to acquire her paints. Yet now that she was sitting cross-legged on the floor, staring up at her currently moss green wall, holding her paintbrush… she hit a blank. She just could not think what she wanted to paint. Alairis chewed on the wooden end of her brush and glared at the wall, trying to will her muse to cooperate. Her knees bouncing restlessly against the floor. After three minutes of glaring, nothing came to mind. She got up and growled. Pacing up and down her room. She was restless and had been since that mishap earlier. Stomping to her window she stared outside. It was starting to get dark out. Staring out into that cityscape the want to be out there grew. Her eyes darted over to her closet where her costume sat and then back to the window. A grin spread over her face. Party for one? Dashing to her door she locked her door. Her parents were out for the night and she didn’t have to worry about them. It took her no time at all to find her clothing choices. Though these had a twist for a ‘special’ effect. Designs that would glow quite nicely in blacklight. Pulling on her clothing she tied her boots and then slipped her mask on with a grin. Opening her window she created a little block of light hovering just outside her window sill. Snagging her boombox she stepped onto the light brick. Which immediately lowered her down from her second story window to the grassy lawn. Now to find a suitable place for her playing. She walked along the streets when no one was in eye range. Just a normal enough teen. For the moment anyway. All the while she was searching for the perfect place to let lose. In the end she found an unused warehouse. She grinned and slipped up to the door and worked her fingers. Creating a glowing key shape which she immediately stuck into the lock. Glanced over her should to make certain no one was around; then tweaked the shape and twisted. A satisfying click met her ears as she turned the knob. She stepped into the building and shut the door behind her. Locking it for good measure. “Perfect” Her voice echoed faintly into the dark. She snapped her fingers and a pair of white lights glowed over head. Illuminating the small building dimly. Striding confidently to a center pillar in the building, she located a plug for her boombox. Switching it on it started to play. She cranked the sound as high as she dared, a wild grin on her face. Steping back she modified her lights. Turning from white to blacklight. Sending them high up to cast their spooky glow all over her clothing and the space. When the beat broke the quite of the building, she moved. Breaking into dance in rhythm with the sounds vibrating through her soul. Her fingers working as she crafted more orbs of light into existence. Multiple colors dancing about her in beat with the song. Their brilliance dimming and flashing in time. ooc:The first song |

At the very last beat of the song she swiped her hands and banished all the lights but one. She stood there with the same wild grin gracing her face. She was breathing slightly hard now both from the dancing and the exertion it took to control her orbs. It was no easy task to change the colors, move the orbs, and keep it all in rhythm while she danced. She’d only dared a six lights before. A warm up more or less. Now was for the hard part. Her blood was pumping now as she could still feel the pulse of the music. She could hear her boombox moving on to the next song. This one with the same heart racing beat. She took a breath and relaxed. Essentially meditating for the few seconds before the first beat echoed through the room. At the first few beats she threw up a hand full of Quarter sized orbs. Each finger she linked the control to one of those little orbs she sent floating up. Then, as if she were playing a piano, she let her fingers move. Each little movement tweaked the hues of each orb. And with the flick of her wrist she controlled the strength of each sphere’s production of light. As the song shifted over into deeper beats, she scattered more orbs of light around her. These ones bigger and pulsing with more vibrant hues. Then she brought her hips into the movements. Each sway of her hips the larger spheres glowed brighter in that direction. Then as the girl’s voice floated out of the music, she moved. Stretching her whole body into the vibrations of the sounds. More lights flared up around her. Pulsing and throbbing to beat of music and heart. Some swirled around her as she shifted and twisted. Her arms and legs jerking, swinging, and swaying to the pulse. She jumped in the air and some of orbs mimicked the action as she shifted color and glowed brighter. She danced harder to the music. Sweat starting to coat her skin as she lost herself to the sounds and lights. The world outside her party all but falling away. Then as the dregs of the song wore down, her orbs slowly began winking out. One by one until only the small handful remained. With a crushing motion of her hands she shattered the remaining orbs into sparkles of light. The sparkles floating down around her like fairy’s magic. Alairis stood there panting as her body began to weary. Yet the broad, excited grin on her face said she was ready for more. She loved this. The dance, the light, the freedom. It was all her’s. Now dressed in his Bomb Squad Costume, the archer moved from rooftop to rooftop in the city, until he discovered something very peculiar. Last he checked, that warehouse was abandoned. Was there an illegal rave? Or some sort of twisted corporate experiment, maybe? He needed to check it out. But, not in person. He made a duplicate, which moved into the building in his place. He would go off patrolling the city in the mean time, looking for other ways he could keep active. The clone could handle this single investigation. Bomb Squad entered the warehouse to the sound of blaring music and what looked like a an astounding light show. What was going on? What's going on here? he asked, intentionally making his voice deeper and more raspy than usual. |

Alairis hit the pause button on her boombox and grabbed a bottle of water she’d snatched too before she left her house. She threw up a single glowing orb to light the area while she gulped down the sweet water. Sucking down her water she caped the rest of the bottle and hit the play button again. Stretching her arms over her head she paced back to her spot again. The song begain to play and she struck a pose. Her hands tossing out more lights immediately. Then her fingers began conducting the lights. Pulsing, beating, and swirling to the music and body. She threw herself into the song. Swaying and jumping. Stretching her arms wide and popping her hips. Alairis was living the music. Her orbs only an extension of the sounds and beat of her heart within. They flashed and flared as she moved. Mimicking her own movements in rhythm. That was until she heard a voice. An obviously male voice. It startled her out of her enjoyment. She flicked her wrist and an orb hit the power button of her bombox. Sudden silence filled the room with the fain echoes of the music dying. “Who’s there?” She said, obviously angry at someone sneaking and disrupting her. Yet there was also a hint of fear. Was she going to have to run for it? OOC:Next Song |

They call me, "Bomb Squad" the archer said, approaching the partying girl. It didn't look like anything illegal was going on here, aside from trespassing on an abandoned property. It was a victimless crime, so he wasn't too concerned. At least it wasn't some kind of experiment. And who might you be? What are you doing here? he asked again. He didn't have his bow drawn yet. He hopefully wouldn't need to. |

Alairis eyed him warily as she shifted her orbs to glow brighter. In order to see the man. She wouldn’t have called him ‘bomb squad’ at first glance. More like ‘Blue Ninjaman’. He probably uses some kinds of bombs though. Better be careful. Her orbs shifted a bit at the agitation she felt. Both from being disturbed and of the approaching figure. “I’m Illuminatra…” She replied. “And what I’m doing frankly isn’t anyone else’s business.” She sniped at him. |

It is if you're trespassing the archer countered, or up to who knows what else. You think just because you can make light dance around, you get a license to run around the city and do whatever you want? He was tempted to reach for his bow, that tone had really struck a nerve. But, he had no way of knowing her power level. Why is it every super is exactly the same? You all think your powers put you above the law. |

She crossed her arms and raised an annoyed eyebrow at the man. God he sounds so ‘superior’. “I’m not hurting anyone, nor am I causing any destruction. So what if I got something a little extra to play with.” “And might I remind you, you’re trespassing too and you don’t exactly look like a policeman either.” She pointed out. “Kinda the pot calling the kettle there.” “I don’t think I’m above the law, but neither do I think I should be persecuted for being different.” She was being her normal bold self, and she was pretty sure she might have to pay for it. But it was this guy's fault that her dancing got interupted. Jerk. |

Under the cover of his mask, Patrick smirked. If she only knew how close to being a policeman he really was. But, she didn't. I was being a good summaritan. I suspected there was illegal activity here, and didn't want to call the police over nothing. He backed away a few steps, letting the falseness of his words set in. Had he found anything of interest, he would have dealt with it personally. As it turns out, I was right. There was indeed something illegal going on here. Just also something harmless. Consider yourself lucky it was me that found you, and not the police. |

She waved her hand off handedly and rolled her eyes. “Whatever helps you sleep at night.” She shot at him. She glared at him. “Oh don’t pull that ‘consider yourself lucky’ crap on me.” She snorted and smoothed out her shirt as her orbs moved about as her agitation grew. Ass. “She walked over to her boombox and unplugged it. Winding up the cord and slinging it lightly over her. “I’m out, since you obviously are probably going to lurk around to see if I do anything like some pervert. All costumed up like some 80’s spandex reject.” She shot him another glare. “Perhaps I should call the police on you instead.” She muttered a bit, obviously letting her temper get away from her. Some of her orbs drifted into hues of reds to match her mood. |

That did it. The arhcer reached to his belt, pulling out one of his throwing stars. The ones mysteriously shaped like bats. He sent a burst of kinetic energy into one, hurling it right at her. It spun with great velocity, hurtling towards her with... explosive force. If it struck her, the detonation was on par with that of a grenade. He wasn't sure if her light power allowed her to make forcefields or not, however. Even so, she probably wasn't expecting the projectile to explode. |

She saw him reach for his belt and fling something at her. Her orbs became just as angry as she was. How dare he? She thought, even knowing that she was pushing his buttons. Perhaps she’d been itching to fight after that pathetic experience at the home Depot. “Its on blue boy.” She flicked her hand and half her orbs shot in front of her and expanded. Growing into a glowing shield. In that moment she got a stray thought, somehow she knew that those things were going to explode. She jumped back a few feet and glared at him. Her orbs flashing through various colors and growing brighter. Aiming to distract and possibly blind him. |

Sadly, a clone can't produce clones, and the original was elsewhere. He would need to rely on his other power to show up this self-righteous super. His hands moved quickly, throwing a few more stars. He tried to throw them wide enough that she wouldn't be able to stop them easily with a single shield. Of course, such a tactic was near impossible to pull off, since he knew from experience that light users can make their shields pretty much as big sa she wanted. Still, maybe he could wear her down with a series of successive explosions. As he bombarded her with shuriken after exploding shuriken, he backed away, getting a bit further away with every step. He knew that if she was a light manipulator at full strength, he had no way to fight her head on. She could block him all day long and never break a sweat. He needed to make this a tactical retreat in case she turned on the offensive. |

She was pissed. Here this dude came in and interrupted her perfectly innocent party. Come on, there wasn’t beer or drugs or nada. Then he acts like an ass caught up in his own self importance, and he accuses her of the same thing. Of course her mouth was going to get away from her. Now he attacks her when she was going to leave. More of those exploding things were flying at her. Whatever, easy enough to block. She was already a bit worn from her dance party, so she couldn’t keep this up for all night. Alairis expanded her shield to block the incoming weapons. Then she set her box down and flicked her other hand at the sullen red looking orbs. Which quickly changed shape. Becoming long sharp needles about two feet long. With a ‘throwing’ motion she hurled them at the man as she sensed him trying to retreat. She was perfectly intent on just driving him away at this point. “Get out of here blueboy, and take your attitude with you!” She hollered over the explosions. |

the needles struck the arhcer, and he fell to the ground, disappearing into particles of dust. That's right he remembered, I'm not real! I hate when I forget that! Moments later, he was gone. EXIT |

Her light struck him, and he ‘poofed’ more or less. She stared curiously at the dust floating in the air. Guess he wasn’t real? She blinked in slight confusion and then shrugged. She’d come to expect anything out of supers. She snorted and kicked a pebble in the direction of the dust. “Serves you right.” Then she banished all her light save one little orb to see by. Alairis was quite thoroughly tired now. Her head hurt and she felt just a bit dizzy. I think I might have over done it I a bit. She realized. No matter, she’d won against the jerk and that alone was enough to make her walk tall. She shuffled her way out of the warehouse and wove her way home. Once there she made a little block of light to carry her up to her window. “What a night.” She quickly striped of her sweaty clothing, doned her sleeping ones, and flopped tiredly into bed. With in moments she was in dream land. -SLEEP- Edited by AleenaGrey, Jan 25 2010, 02:36 PM.

Waking up was a lot less of an ordeal than it had been the day before. Her head hurt, but only that dull annoying ache from thinking too much. Which, essentially she’d been doing thinking for way too many people the yesterday. She still couldn’t believe it. “Telepathy?” She shook her head. Climbing out of bed she dressed herself and wandered downstairs to the kitchen. Her belly was demanding food and wasn’t going to hear a ‘no’. Her father was down stairs flipping through papers and mumbling to himself. She looked at him curiously. Should I? There wasn’t any reason why not? So she let her shield down a bit and kinda peeked at his thoughts. What she got was similar to his mumbles, yet coupled with a lot more math equations that she didn’t care about. Interesting. She watched him a few more moments while she rummaged through a cabinet for cereal. Then the fridge for milk. I wonder….? Alairis kept her eyes trained on her task of pouring milk. Then she basically sent a mental poke at her dad. Other than a bit of a fumble when leafing through his papers, he seemed undisturbed. Hm. She finished pouring her milk and located a spoon. Yet as soon as she did she sent another thought at her dad. Your tie’s undone. He blinked and continued in his mumblings as he reached up to secure his tie, which was in-fact, already secure. He paused then to glance down at his tie with a baffled look. Then he shrugged and delved back into his number. All the while Alairis was fighting to keep a straight face as she whisked herself up to her room. “This telepathy thing could be fun.” She said with a wicked grin. Yet she still needed to perfect her control of it. She in no way wanted a repeated of yesterday. So she slurped up her breakfast fast. Then sat herself on the floor with her legs crossed. Meditation time. It wasn’t the first time she’d tried meditation. She just didn’t have the patience for it. This time though, she better make the patience for it. Exploding is a bad thing. She sat down and laid her wrists over her knees. She wasn’t going to do that goofy pinching the fingers thing. She had some pride after all. Closing her eyes she took a deep slow breath and let her walls fall. Immediately she felt the pressure descend on her. She cringed, but bore it. Her little community was nowhere near as populated as that market had been, nor did her powers feel so raw in her head. Taking another breath she steadied herself. Remembering all the times she’d played with her other powers. The boy had been right, calm was the key. The most prominent voice in her head sounded like her mother. Which wasn’t surprising since Alairis’ room was right over her painting studio. Her mother’s absent mutterings as she designed her latest work was actually rather soothing to her. She let the voice fill her mind while she relaxed further. Tuning out the hazy din of other voices. Now for a wall. I need one that’s going to last without direct concentration. She took a deep breath and began to weave her protective shield. Strand by pain-staking strand. She visualized herself weaving it as she would weave one of light. Laying each layer as carefully as a mother would set a sleeping child to bed. She was so concentrated on the task, that when she finished she almost didn’t noticed the silence in her head. She blinked and sighed with tired relief. Silence. Blessed silence. She hadn’t been alone in her own head since that episode yesterday. She grinned and lay back on the floor of her room. Her arms splayed over her head. I wouldn’t have been able to do it if I hadn’t known how to control my light. Now she was sure she could go out in public again without having a mental break down. Now that she knew how strong she could make it, she weakened her walls a little. Immediately she heard the dull mummers of voices. Like someone sleeping in another room. It was a bit annoying, but bearable. Hearing other’s thoughts could be useful, and even might save her life. OOC: Purple is projected Thoughts |
