I saw a news story that all surviving Doctor Whos are reuniting for the BBC Children in Need special, including Chris! This will be very interesting! I don't know when the special airs. You lot would know better than me, but I read it today on google alerts! Chris... back in his leather jacket? Let the drool begin! :$

Children in Need is normally on in November.

A lovely idea if it is accurate! Just in time for the 45th anniversary of the start of the original series on 23 November. Although it might be a bit of a stretch on the imagination for at least two of them, that shouldn't matter if the script for it is good.

Here is a related article from the BBC Doctor Who website. I wonder if the "special guests" are the 7 surviving Doctors?

Inside The World Of Doctor Who Russell T Davies to headline children's event in London.

On Saturday 29 November 2008, the London Children's Film Festival will team up with BAFTA to present Inside the World of Doctor Who at the Barbican.

The TARDIS will be landing at the Barbican Hall, bringing with it the team behind Doctor Who, including some very special guests.

Expect to see some iconic monsters, talk to the programme makers, get behind-the-scenes gossip from series creator Russell T Davies, and see a sneak preview of snippets from this year's Christmas special.
Inside the World of Doctor Who is a family event and all adults must be accompanied by a child. For full festival details follow the link below.

Yeah, we'll see... I suppose if this would ever happen, it makes sense that it would be for Children in Need, which did stage a reunion of Doctors three to seven in 1993. You must never, ever watch that, though, it was excruciating. I'm sure that with Russell in charge this would be much better!

I know this contains wrongness but the whole thing (that's CIN) makes me cringe. It's too cheesy for words and I can't be in the same room as it. I'll give it money if you like. Just. Don't. Make. Me . Watch. It. :X

I can believe that everyone would show up except Tom Baker. Isn't he supposed to be a very cranky hermit these days? Or is that just nasty rumours spread by journalists who were turned down for interviews?
Don't care, don't care. Just want to see Chris in leather jacket, tight pants and boots! Linda

I have to agree I find it too self-satisfied. However I've enjoyed some bits in the past e.g. the newsreaders doing "The Rocky Horror Show".

I agree it would be great to see Chris in it, but fear that the chances are about 1 in 3 trillion.

Realistically, even if Chris were available, as CIN is in November I can't see that David would be available with his theatre commitments. I think that planning for this year's CIN would have needed to be done a lot earlier than this to encompass so many actors and to ensure that it wasn't going to be a fiasco like the awful one that was done in 1993. However, it will be interesting to see what the CIN contribution will actually be.

I cringe at most telethon type thingees in general, so Nine is not alone. I'm not a Scrooge. I believe in donating to the cause and I know that the tear-jerking, melodramatic clips and songs and such works on some folks, but for me, it induces vomiting. I would, however, be happy to see a doctor reunion. I'd stomach the cheese for the cause. If it was for anything else, I wouldn't, but I enjoyed the one last year with David Tennant and Peter Davidson, so maybe this one would be ok.

I think they keep a much firmer hand on the controls with Doctor Who nowadays. They wouldn't just lash together some pantomime for the sake of it.

It would seem that the reunion isn't happening for CIN. According to the BBC Doctor Who website (24 October) that the CIN is going to be a teaser for the Christmas Special.

"This year's Children in Need Telethon is to feature an exclusive preview of the forthcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special.
The clip, from the Christmas Special entitled The Next Doctor, will show the first two minutes of a brand new episode for the Time Lord, played by David Tennant.
This never seen before footage, is a worldwide exclusive, and will keep fans all over the globe wondering what's in store for the Doctor's next adventure.
Starring David Tennant and David Morrissey, the clip from The Next Doctor will be broadcast as part of the BBC Children in Need show on 14 November, BBC One from 7pm."

So... any bets that the rumour was a publicity stunt and... it worked. We all read the damned thing. Even me. And I don't even get that special.

Quite likely, Mayz. The CIN special is only shown in the UK. But we'll all eventually see the Christmas special when it comes out, so I'm not too worried by not seeing a teaser for it.

I'm quite intrigued by the title, even though we all know full well it'll be a massive fakeout.
