Although there are no photographs (I wish!) I have just acquired the following extremely early theatrical programmes which name check Christopher from his days as a student at the Central School of Speech and Drama:

Measure For Measure

"A performance given by students in their final year of training. The first performance was given at the Embassy Theatre on Wednesday, 19th March 1986."

Angelo - Christopher Eccleston

The Accrington Pals

"The first performance of this production was given at the Embassy Theatre on 12th February 1986"

Tom - Christopher Eccleston

Moliere's Tartuffe
In aid of The Malcom Sargent Cancer Fund for Children

Valere - Christopher Eccleston

And, no before you ask I didn't pay a lot for them.

Resident Costume Mistress...What's your inseam again, Mr. Eccleston?

Oooh! He was Valere...one of my favorite characters ever. I'd have loved to see that.

I always keep my fingers crossed that somewhere out there someone has a video of that performance of Woyzeck he did when he was at drama school. Dammit, I'd love to see him play that role.

No kidding, Perf. I'd love to see how nuanced he could make Woyzeck's dilusions be.

More companies should do that show. Seriously. That, and more Brecht. And more Artaud.
