There are two separate posters i.e. one for the GI Joes and one for the COBRA and the Viper Squad being advertised on buses where I live. There's another one which split them between the credits of the movie too. There are separate posters too for the main protaganists too but alas no James McCullen! Me, am seeing the movie on Saturday (8th August) either at Vue, Cinema De Lux or Odeon or the flea pit that once named the Cinecentre. The latter being the cinema I saw "The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising" and had the whole place to myself a couple of years ago. Ecclesno9 |

There was a short review in the Metro, a free London paper that they give out at railway stations. Not good. :'( They gave it two stars (out of 5) and didn't like Chris's Scottish accent. :( |

I've seen several online reviews and they are pretty unanimous in panning his Scottish accent. :-/ Overall reviews of the movie seem mixed - some thinking it's great escapist fun and some thinking it's beyond horrible. Oh well. I'll still want to see it, just for the chance to see Chris in something new. |

If you like your movies; gun-ho, comic book violence, boys own adventures, kick ass attitude, escapism for nearly two hours with a bit of humour, then this movie is for you. Loud, abrasive and you don't have to think about the plot too much. However, if you like rom-coms, fluffy animals, etc then this movie isn't for you. I lapped it up especially Christopher's Scottish brogue. You could tell that Christopher loved every minute of it and brushing aside his role as the #9 Doctor. His suits are sharp and so his dialogue. I won't give much of the plot away except that Christopher is dastardly in everyway possible. I was one of five people for the 11.00 a.m. performance in a 300-seat auditorium today. And I sat in the very middle. The only actor who I think was miscast is that of Jonathan Pryce as the President of the USA. Why??? I really couldn't give a stuff about what some of the critics have said about it, I loved it. I give it 4/5. Ironically one of the trailers was advertising for recruits for the Royal Marines Commando Unit. Strange that! Is everybody who writes reviews stupid? Or do they assume audiences are? I don't expect to go to GI Joe and see The Housebunny. I go there expecting shooting, wooden dialogue, punching, fighting, explosions and stuff. You know... action movie stuff and comic book stuff. Is it just me? Do people go into these things expecting it to be Oscars material? I am going this week and expect something like Transformers which entertained me well, but didn't go into my "Oh... that was thought-provoking" category. I would like to see Chris being bad in a suit that makes him look fetching. That's all I want. I'll do my thought-provoking, introspective thingee later. |

Agree with you Mayzee I do hate critics who take it upon themselves to not only insult the audience but to insult the cast and crew I went to see the film with a grain a salt, not expecting it to be a contender for Best Picture, etc., I've seen worse with bigger celebrities and they don't get half the panning. I can count at least twenty different film references it gives. If you want me to list them I start off with "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" and "Blade Runner". I love Christopher's ever so slightly campness playing McCullen, he relishes it, he exudes every single damn pore of being an arms dealer (sorry "businessman") ruthless to the absolute teeth and not giving a damn what people think of him. To me "G I Joe - Rise of COBRA" is just pure escapism for two hours. Does exactly what it says on the can and I can't say fairer than that. Ecclesno9 (got the paperback tie-in today) |

And it was number 1 at the box office over here, according to newspapers, singlehandedly pulling the movie industry out of a slump. It was a dismal summer showing and GI Joe pulled up the nose of the plane, they say, and now the numbers are up again. so... nyah. |
