Do excuse the yelling, but this review is priceless. The writer only likes Chris' character, is cheering for him and mentions him wearing lots of Armani suits in the flick. Armani? Ok. I can go to the movie to drool at that. I likely won't care about the plot, but whoopie! Armani... dear Lord... how will I survive? I'm starting to drool already. Don't tell the Italian.

Here's the link and the item.

trailer break: ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’

Oh my god, I am so rooting for the bad guy in this. Christopher Eccleston can conquer my world any time he wants. I mean, he destroys the Eiffel Tower? How deliciously evil is that? And probably all because some dame broke his heart once and told him, as a brushoff, “We’ll always have Paris,” and he’s all, “Maybe not...”

And this “team” that “is being assembled” to stop him? The supposedly “best operatives in the world”? Bor-ring! We’re supposed to cheer for these guys and gals with their bland faces and their mechanical toys and their following orders instead of following their own dreams? They don’t have to be evil dreams -- just, you know, show a spark of imagination, wouldja? You have to wait to be told to go after the villain who just blew up the Eiffel Tower? What, are you stupid or something?

Eh. Why are the heroes always so much less exciting than the bad guys? It’s like they want us to root for the evil genius masterminds.

I can tell already that I’m going to be complaining that the movie has too much of the bland action figure “heroes” in their stupid accelerator suits and not enough Christopher Eccleston in his Armani suits.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opens in the U.S. and the U.K. on August 7.

Delicious! Not nearly enough Chris in the preview, but at least he's the first person you see. And now that I've seen the preview I will be sure to bring earplugs to the theater for use whenever Chris isn't on the screen. Good Lord what a noisy movie! And what a loverly villain! Nice find Mayzie. I like this woman's attitude. ^_^

It will be nice to see Chris in something as nice as Armani suits rather than Hillary :) LOL He looks awesome all scruffy, but he sure does clean up nicely too.

Thanks so much for posting this Mayz.
I totally agree with the reviewer's comments. Chris grips the attention as always - he is so convincing compared to the other actors - the rest of them sound wooden and boring. I hope the film is better than the trailer. Why on earth does Chris act in things like this?

I suppose a film like this gets his name out to a wider audience. That would allow him to do work thats closer to his heart. A film like this is just pure advertising for him I guess.

That's true - but isn't there a danger that acting in rubbish films makes him seem less credible as a serious actor? I fear that could that undermine his status for producers of good films. :'( Oh well, he must know what he's doing!

Well, Dustin Hoffman made Ishtar. So even a great actor can sometimes end up in something less than stellar... um... that's the nicest way I can put that. :rof: Just thinking of that kind of talent in that kind of film... ugh... Chris is in good company... and Dustin did RAin Man AFTER that fiasco, so I'm sure Chris will be fine.

It was very exciting seeing Chris all big and stuff on the big screen in the trailer when we went to see Star Trek on Tuesday- even Mr F commented!

I saw it too when we went to see Star Trek last night. I have to say the film looks like drek, Chris's presence notwithstanding. Star Trek wasn't great either...and made me feel nauseous... :X

I really liked Star Trek, though I have to admit I have no attachment to the characters or the show and just watched it as a sci-fi action movie. Quinto is excellent in it, as is the eight-year-old boy who they got to play Chekov. :p

Actual, serious, genuine reaction from the person who I went to see it with when the G.I. Joe trailer came on: "This looks like Team America: World Police." Followed swiftly by: "And yet, Christopher Eccleston is in this, so I'm probably going to end up seeing it anyway."

I hope Chris and Dennis Quaid have a fight or an evil-stare showdown or something together. May as well give the grown-ups in the cast something to do.

Yes... and lots of footage of the suit. I like the suit. I think there are other people in the movie. I have heard this, but... all I could see was the suit.

I enjoyed Star Trek, although unlike Mr F I didn't think it was the second coming on a cloud of wind and flame. I did enjoy Mssrs Quinto and Urban immensely. They have...qualities...

Yes, Mr. Quinto definitely has qualities... his gorgeous face is gracing my laptop wallpaper at this very minute. Ever since Chris left Heroes, Sylar has been the only reason to watch it. I'm gradually catching up on this past season, and missing Claude every time Peter uses his invisibility.

I've heard mixed reactions from everyone who has seen Star Trek, but everyone I know who has seen the GI Joe trailer in the theater had a negative response. The only exception is from the people who know who Chris is and he's the only part they think might make the movie worth seeing. :( Too bad. I'd love for him to be in a huge hit just to see more of him.
