Just got this on DVD - the first time I'd seen it since its original broadcast. I enjoyed it very much, and wondered about two things. Firstly, do you suppose the writer tailored this role for Chris? The John Cooper Clarke poem at the start seems like more than a coincidence, as well as the part's general Chris-suitability. Secondly, am I the only person who thinks this might have been more of an influence on Danny Boyle's later career than is often given credit for? An impoverished misfit falls in with a beautiful yet mysterious girl, they drift apart but end up reunited on a light entertainment show - he has had a bit of success with this story recently, hasn't he? |

Lol- hopefully with DB being the man of the moment this might find it's way to a slightly wider audience...and I see rumours today of him being offered the next Bond film |

I usually watch clips from the Oscars the next day (volume on mute) and when I saw Danny Boyle onscreen I thought "why is Morrissey getting an Oscar? Is his new album part of a soundtrack?" LOL... |

There's a lot of Morrissey lookalikes around all of a sudden, aren't there? I saw a trailer for Stewart Lee's new show and thought that the BBC were investing in some kind of Morrissey Variety Hour. Latest word has it that he's not doing Bond, but is tempted by the thought of making a musical. Apparently the dance sequence at the end of Slumdog Millionaire lit a fire in him... |
