I hear ya, Leigh. I hate it when I invest in characters and then they are yanked away. I loved Pushing Daisies. I thought it was original. The vivid colour and splashiness of the set designs made me hungry every time it came on. And the stories were so quirky and the characters were so interesting. I think the strike killed it. That's my opinion. As for BB Theory... OMG... what an awesome series... the writing is bang on... the actors are great... I adore the character of Sheldon. He reminds me of Tony Randall... that anal retentive way he portrayed Felix Unger in The Odd Couple. I'm not saying he's exactly it, but he reminds me of him a bit. I think his character is absolutely classic. What a great bunch of nerds... and poor Penny stuck in the midst of them. Sigh... at least there's one show I can count on in this world. I can't stand most of the tripe they have on. I mean, what is High School Musical? I'm stuck with CSI and Law and Order... which I can tolerate. It may not be literary magic, but you get a mystery, solve it in an hour and go on with your life... and Laurence Fishburne has amazed me since he replaced Petersen. Anyway... I'd love to see something innovative come along that doesn't get cancelled... they killed me when they took away "Dead Like Me"... I thought that was the most creative show I had seen in ages and... that was the kiss of death. Damn! |

I think that sometimes American-length series can be the making of shows, and other times it can kill them. I liked things like The Sopranos and Six Feet Under because they worked towards a definite end point and were crafted within the medium of twenty-whatever episode seasons, but Life On Mars worked best as a very short BBC run of two 6-8 episode series. The final episode of the BBC run was so disquieting and tragic and provocative, I'm still thinking over what it might mean now. That, sometimes, is what you want. |

Well, the American version was still well done. I have no complaints about the show itself. Just the short-sightedness in choosing not to renew it. I really liked these characters and it kept me interested enough (and it's rare these days) for me to check my calendar and my watch and ask, "When's it on? I want to set aside the time to see it." Believe me. I don't do that... only BB Theory gets that honour these days... and Doctor Who when it's in season... you know... duck season... rabbit season... Who Season. :rof: Well, even Heroes has lost its appeal... except for the intriguing episode coming up. |

IMDB has Chris listed as being on the Heroes series finale, April 27. But it's a very long cast list filled with series regulars, so I'm not sure how much time on camera he will get. Time as a visible person that is... Well, I will watch anyway. I stopped watching after he left and the show got silly, but I was clicking around a couple of weeks ago after House was over and happened to see a scene with Jack Coleman who seems to still be doing awfully good work in among the foolishness. I think it will all be bearable for one episode since our boy will be there. House is my only appointment television. I'm really looking forward to the last few episodes of this season. All the characters, especially House, are so freaked out these days that I'm sure the writers will be inspired to put them in breathtaking situations for my viewing pleasure. No spoilers for any Brits or Aussies on here who see the episodes later than we do in the US. Haven't seen either version of Life on Mars although I have the Brit version on cd waiting next to my all regions dvd player that I had to buy in order to keep up completely with Chris and Hugh Laurie. These men are so expensive! Linda |

This didn't happen, but I was cheered to see everyone on io9.com being annoyed that there was no Claude. It's not just us! |
