"Very," he replied, returning her smile. "Let's get this show started, Miss Miller!" he said, using her name dramatically now that he knew what it was. He actually felt very peppy now, considering how he'd felt just minutes earlier. The concoction of hot popcorn and warm cocoa was making him feel better it seemed... but it was mostly her.
As the music looped again, Alex realized he had to actually press play before the 'show would start.' He gave an awkward chuckle.

"Uhm.. hold on a sec." He began searching for the remote, which had gotten lost sometime that day, from the numerous times he'd flopped upon the couch. He had to be careful where he slid his fingers, not wanting to accidentally brush against Briana's thigh or touch her butt... that'd be a little too cozy for comfort. Totally different level than a hug.
"Aha!" he gave a little cheer as his fingers wrapped around the remote. He'd found it hiding between the cushions, and now whipping it out, he used it's remote powers to start the movie, pressing firmly down upon the "Play" button.

"Heyyyyy!" Katrina whined loudly, reaching for the phone after Jack had snatched it away from her. Her arms couldn't stretch far enough, though, with the tall man keeping it away as if it were a game of monkey in the middle. Her words couldn't pour out fast enough, and just like that the phone beeped, signaling that Jack's quick attack on the phone had ended the call. Before she'd gotten a 'goodbye' out.
"Why'd you do that?" she asked. She gave him a look, but couldn't get her face to contort into a glare; he was too cute to be angry at. She was just... confused. Why did he do that? Zack was his friend--why be rude to him?

Watching him slowly returning to his exuberant self brought a warm feeling to her. She felt better knowing that she was able to help him keep his mind off of such a depressing subject. The movie started and she fixed her eyes on the television. Though she'd seen this movie many times, it was always entertaining with the right people.

As the movie continued, she could feel herself growing more tired. About halfway through the movie, she was too tired to keep herself upright and leaned over, resting her head on his shoulder. She hoped he wouldn't mind.

"You're gonna call him later. Why does it matter?" he asked, sticking his tongue out a bit at her. Honestly, he was extremely jealous at their conversation. Knowing that she'd be taking time out of her day to focus on Zack. He slipped his phone into his pants, leaving it in the elastic of his boxer briefs and hiding it from view.

Alex felt Briana lean over onto him as baby Carlos started to cry in the movie. Was that the best that heaven could supply as a 'chorus of angelic music' playing? It was pretty weak-- but he'd take it. He tried his hardest not to show that he was either feeling awkward or too happy about this, settling somewhere in between. Her touch always brought him back to lingering memories of that hug they'd shared, which was both good and bad in his mind. He wanted so much to know her better, so that she wasn't so much of a stranger anymore and the bad would all melt away. But the problem was, they were still strangers at this point. And to get to know her, she'd have to know him. And then he was right back at square one, feeling stupid about staying silent but still unable to get a word out. He couldn't talk about all of this yet.

He gave a half-hearted laugh as one of the jokes played through, trying to make it seem like he'd just been watching the movie all this time, not mulling over all these thoughts. His shoulder shook a bit with the laugh, and he gave a quiet "Sorry... you OK, sleepyhead?" as he checked on her, the forced laugh dying away.

Katrina laughed at his immature behavior; he was like a little kid, sticking his tongue out and everything!
"It matters 'cause I didn't get to say goodbye, ya jerk," she responded, her voice playful instead of angry. She was still confused by his motives, catching a glint of the phone out of the corner of her eye, just as Jack hid it away. What was all of this about?
She stepped closer, a grin spreading across her face as it neared Jack's. "You.. you're jealous, aren't you?" she giggled, staring up into his eyes. His gaze sort of turned away, like he'd been caught.
She could see it now; it was written all over his face!
Katrina stepped closer to Jack again, their bodies touching and their lips dangerously close. She wrapped her arms over his shoulders, around the back of his neck.
"Jelly Beannn..." she whined quietly, giving him big puppy-dog eyes but with a smile still spread across her lips; Tell the truth.

"Hm?" Briana had heard him asking her a question but in her sleepy haze, she wasn't exactly sure what it was he had said. His words registered in her mind and she felt a little silly for not realizing what he'd said.

"Oh, yeah. Just... tired. Is this okay?" She asked, referring to her resting her head on his shoulder.

She had figured him out, but he didn't want to admit that. He shook his head and avoided her gaze even though she had pushed her body up against his in a... tantalizing manager.

"Nuh-uh." He tried his best to look her in the eye so that it wasn't as obvious. But the more he looked, the more he wanted to spill his guts to her.

"Yeah," Alex said simply, giving her a soft smile. "Any way I could be a better pillow? Like.. should I lean or anything?" he asked, doing so before getting the OK. He leaned more toward her, his chin resting on the crown of her head. "Like this?"

"Yeah right," she laughed, hugging him tight. He was just too cute.
As her tightening grip on his neck forced him closer, she couldn't resist grabbing a kiss, her giggles still escaping through her nose. "You're a horrible liar," she told him after she pulled her head back, not letting up on the hug, though. "And you taste like toothpaste."

Briana felt him shifting beneath her before she could respond and she almost immediately felt more comfortable.

"Um... yeah, that works well, actually," she said as she reached up and tucked some of her loose hair behind her ear.

"Minty freshness to counteract the bitter lies," he responded with a face before kissing her again. This was more like it. He didn't want to fight. Especially not with her.

"OK.. well, good." His smile grew a bit. This was actually more comfortable for him too. Now that he had something to rest on... some solid ground beneath him to keep him from sinking back into that depression. Though her soft hair didn't help keep him from sinking into a sleepy state. He gave a soft yawn as the tiger snooze jingle played.

Katrina was over the shock and confusion from earlier now that she understood why Jack had been rude... she was actually flattered that he'd gotten jealous. He was being possessive... That meant he cared about her, right? Her cheeks flushed with excitement, deepening the kiss that Jack had placed upon her lips. She really did think she was falling for him.

The yawn was contagious and she felt herself letting out a small one. She covered her mouth with her hand as she did so before she brought it back down and rested it on his leg by accident. She was too tired to notice or care as her eyes finally drooped closed. The melody of the tiger snooze song being sung in the movie only helped to lull her to sleep faster.

He could feel his phone vibrating in the elastic of his boxer briefs signifying that someone had texted him. It sent an odd sensation through him and he tried to ignore it the best he could as he continued to kiss her. He wanted to stay in that moment forever.

However, the knock at his bedroom door pulled him out of the kiss.

"Jack, we're leaving now. There's plenty of food in the fridge for you when you decide to eat," his mother called through.

"Thanks, mom," he called back with a somewhat exacerbated tone. He looked at Katrina. "Seems the world is against this kissing thing. Do you want food?"

Alex's eyelids felt too heavy all of a sudden, so he closed them, just letting the sounds of the movie filter into his hazy mind. There were jokes and screams twisting in the blackness of his mind's eye, pulling him deeper into a restless sort of sleep, filled with memories of Daniel but also memories of the Hangover. But as he nuzzled into Briana's soft hair, smelling the vanilla scent of her conditioner, everything settled down.. and he got some rest.

Katrina's lips darted off of Jack's as there was a knock at the door, her fingers clamping down on any skin she could get, holding tight in fear. It was his mother again-- thankfully she just said they were leaving, and did so. Katrina let out a shaky sigh of relief, her muscles relaxing so that her arms slid off of Jack's body. She leaned against the sink, one palm flat against the cool marble, the other clutching the front of her shirt as her heart hammered in her chest.
Was his mom trying to KILL her? She had to know she was here, that's all there was too it. Katrina felt so caught.

"Yeah... yeah... food sounds good," she got out a response as her heart went back to its normal pace. "Heart attacks do leave me feeling famished." She offered a smile.

The morning came far too quickly. As she stirred awake, she could hear the sounds of the snow outside lightly brushing against the glass. Her eyes fluttered open to be met with the menu screen from the DVD. She had obviously fallen asleep, but when she wasn't sure. She felt an arm wrapped around her and looked to see that she had fallen asleep on Alex's shoulder. She smiled a little. He had fallen asleep as well, meaning that she had managed to get him to go to sleep. She figured that she would stay there, not attempting to move seeing as how when she had tried to get out from underneath of Rian earlier had woken him up.

"Rian..." she mumbled, her head turning to glanced down the hallway at the closed bedroom door. She had told him that she'd be back in a few minutes... which had turned into all night. He was probably still asleep. Maybe she could sneak back in there?

The thoughts of her moving must have been transferred to the sleeping man beneath her somehow because she could feel him beginning to stir.

"You're not old enough to have heart attacks, silly," he commented with a grin as he took her hand and made his way out of the bathroom. He went to the bedroom door and poked his head out to make sure that the coast was clear. Once he was positive, he pulled her out into the hallway and led her to the kitchen.

"We can make pretty much anything as long as we make sure to clean up after ourselves. Mom's rules."
