Katrina swiped the back of her forearm against her forehead, brushing away tangled red bangs mingled with clear droplets of salty sweat. It was hot as balls up on the stage, or at least that's what everyone had been saying. You could still hear people grumbling it under their breath as the crew was deconstructing the set, packing things up to load onto the vans. And every few seconds there would be a swear word or two shouted, but that was mostly from the giddy rock-stars that had just finished their gig--All Time Low, the band that Katrina worked as a crew member for. The band that she basically worshiped... but they didn't get to know that. Only Briana, Katrina's life-long and closest friend, knew that. And she was halfway across the stage, cleaning up around the drums area.

It was nice, being on the same crew as her best friend. And being on the same crew as all these hotties. The only thing Katrina could ask for now, after making it to the big leagues as one of the major crew-hands (since so many of the normal crew-members had taken off for the holidays, giving the underlings a chance to shine), would be that she didn't actually have to work. The whole manual labor part was the only downside.

Katrina reached to her left to grab after the cords trailing along the floorboards of the stage, realizing that they'd need to be rolled up and taken back before someone tripped over them or something. As soon as she picked one up, though, she realized she'd picked up multiple-- they were all twisting together, creating a monstrous mass of cables before separating again to hook up to amps, guitars, and all sorts of lights and lasers positioned across the stage. Dammit. It's gonna take forever to undo this massive knot! Katrina grumbled to herself, frowning as she tugged on her handful of cords and saw the whole great lump sliding closer to her. The impossible task was glaring her in the face. Or maybe that was the flood lights; they were still pretty bright.

"Hey, any way we can turn those things off?" she shouted over to Vinny, one of the crew members that had decided to stay on through the holidays. By squinting her eyes and nodding her chin upward to hint at the lights, she got her point across about what she meant by 'those things.' "And could I maybe get a hand over here?" she added, her voice going higher by just a few decibels, but enough to sound pitiful and pleading. "Pleeeease? These things are a mess." She flipped the cables around a bit, the monster-mass creeping across the stage like a fattened snake. It made her cringe a little... too much work. Unpleasant.

"You're a mess," Rian laughed as he walked by, hopping over the cords as they skittered around, dodging it as if he were playing double-dutch jump-rope. Katrina didn't fight him--she knew she was. Tiny white tank-top with sweat marks and jean shorts that had frayed to be just a bit too much like booty-shorts? Not her best look. Prettymuch the definition of a mess. She did, however, call after him with a "Heyyy! Where you goin'? Damsel in distress here!"
Rian just continued to laugh, waving her off without even a glance back. Katrina knew where he was going... he was making a bee-line straight for Briana as she was taking apart his drum set so it could be packed up. It wasn't so much so that he could help her take it apart, either; I mean, technically the band didn't have to help tear down at all. But the guys did sometimes, when they were still hyped up on adrenaline and had nothing better to do. Or when they knew they could get something better to do out of it. And Briana was the 'damsel in distress' that Rian most cared about helping out. Everyone could tell by the way he had started hanging over her the past week... Total puppy-love.
Katrina kicked at the evil knot of cords once she'd pulled it into range of her one-size-too-big chucks, sending the heavy-ass glob nowhere and sneaking peeks at Briana's cute reactions when Rian snuck up behind her and grabbed her around the waist, lifting her in a backward bear hug and kissing her cheek. The whole stage could hear her squeal, thanks the the mics, which screamed with feedback. Katrina quickly tugged on a cord that looked like it was attached to the mic on that end, getting lucky and finding the right one straight off. The speakers shut up, cutting off all the eaves droppers' chances at hearing in... including her own. For now, at least. She'd hear it allllll later.

...Damn Briana was lucky.

Briana had grown used to the antics pulled by the boys. And at this moment, it seems that Rian had decided to mess with her (knowing that she'd be taking apart his drums after their set) and tighten everything just enough to where she'd have no way of pulling it apart herself. He would do anything to get the chance to help her or just be near her. And she didn't mind at all.

As she was tugging at a peg to try and twist it to pull apart the bass drum from the two smaller toms above it, she felt strong arms wrap around her waist and lift her up into the air, pulling a squeal from her as an instinct. She then felt Rian's sweat and stubble-covered chin brush against her cheek as he placed a kiss there. Though the tiny hairs on his face scratched at hers, it was a welcome sensation. She was so caught up in the moment to noticed the feedback.

"Have you finally come to my rescue?" she questioned with a small giggle laced through her words as she turned her head to look at him better. She saw the large grin on his face and she knew that he had purposefully tightened the pegs to the point of no return. Of course, this gave her the opportunity to admire his arm muscles. All those years of playing the drums really did a lot of good to his arms and legs.

Just offstage, Jack was attempting to get some sort of nut shot on Matt as he struggled to do his job of telling everyone where things go. Though the adrenaline was part of the cause, he tended to be this hyper on a constant basis. As the feedback shot through his ears, he turned his head just as Katrina yanked the cord connected to the microphones near the drums. She looked almost defeated as she stared at the massive mess of wires that lay on the ground in front of her. Jack stopped and stared a moment, wiping his brow with his sleeve.

"Why don't you go be helpful and stop being a dick," Matt suggested as he motioned towards Katrina. He knew that Jack had this thing for her. Well, he knew they had a thing for each other, but he didn't know the extent of it. The relationships that went on between the boys and the two girls that traveled with them was all sorts of confusing.

"Why don't you stop being a pedophile?" Jack responded in his best Mickey Mouse impression before he took a swing and made contact with Matt's nether regions, doubling him over before he skipped away towards the redhead. He hopped up and down next to her once he reached her side. "Do you need me to help you?"

"Why yes, m'lady. Yes I have," Rian responded to her giggle-filled question, doing his best interpretation of an old Victorian accent, which was really no more than laying on the British extra-thick. It sounded awful, but his head was too muddled by the feeling of butterflies fluttering around in his stomach to really notice or care. He just gave Briana a dopey grin as he let her down, kneeling down next to his drum set, which he had purposefully set up to be too difficult for her to take apart. "Now, let's see... what seems to be the problem here?" he asked, tugging at the peg that he had seen Briana working on. His muscles strained a bit, biceps flexing right in perfect view, and he let out a soft grunt before the peg slid out of place and released the bass drum. "Was this little bugger giving you trouble?" he asked, his acting failing him. Gosh, he must be a dead give-away. But... he really didn't care, as long as she kept laughing like that.

Katrina gave a frustrated sigh as she heaved the chihuahua-sized mass up onto her lap, glaring down at the twisted cords. "God, why do you hate me?" she asked up toward the sky, getting blinded by the floodlights that were still going at full capacity. "Aghhh... Vinny!! I thought I asked if we could turn those down?!" she shouted blindly over in the general direction she believed he was in, not sounding so innocent and frail with the growl trailing through her voice. She didn't hear a response from him immediately, so she started blinking her eyes back open, the constricted pupils dilating slowly so that she could see once more. By squinting, she could make out a skinny outline growing larger... it was heading her way.

And not only that... that skinny figure was Jack. She felt a bead of cool sweat trickle down her back as her heart started pounding a little faster.

"Do you need me to help you?" Jack asked, hopping in place and showing off his endless amount of energy. Katrina gaped for a second, wondering what the hell he could mean. Help her? Had he heard her bitching a moment ago about the lights? Did he think she was a huuuuge pain in the ass? But no, by his face, he really did want to help her out. And, judging by where his eyes were looking, down in her lap, he meant... the cords!

"OH! Oh my gawd, would you?" Katrina asked, a bright smile gradually widening across her face. "That'd be great. 'Cause I really...really..." she looked at the tangle of cords draped over her legs, "really don't think I can do this on my own."

Briana bit her lower lip to keep herself from smiling too much, but it barely worked. She watched as he flexed his muscles.

God, he was perfect.

"Thank you," she said as she knelt down next to him. "Now that you're here, we can get this set taken apart quickly and maybe do something afterward?" she suggested as she looked at him. Their brown eyes met and she hoped that he would say yes. Even though at the end of the night they'd all be getting onto the same bus to go to the next city for their day off, she was hoping that they could do something before all of the others were finished with their work. This was the last thing she had to do for the night and if she really wanted to (which she didn't) she could help someone else finish up their work. But in this case, she was being selfish. Who wouldn't be when they had the opportunity to spend some alone time with Rian?

"Awesome!" Jack grinned when she agreed to let him help. He plopped himself down on the ground next to her and immediately regretted it as he felt a sharp pain in his buttocks. "Damn. Bad idea." He shrugged it off as he looked at Katrina and smiled.

"Where do we start?" he asked before looking down at the pile once more.

"No proble...Oh?" Rian's voice drowned off as he interrupted himself upon hearing the end part of Briana's suggestion.
"Uhm.. uh, afterward?" he asked, swallowing hard. Gawd, it felt like his throat had gone absolutely dry.. and yet his mouth was salivating like crazy. He was a bit worried he might drool, so he swallowed again after clearing his throat, just to be safe.
"Ahaha.. Uhm...what did you have in mind for.. afterward?" he asked cautiously, the smallest hint of a smile on his lips as he wrenched apart another bit of the drum-set without even looking, his toned muscles working on autopilot. His brown eyes were locked on hers... could she possibly be thinking what he was thinking? What he'd been imagining for the past few nights in his most private dreams?

He had to swallow again. Oh gawd, oh gawd.

"Agh... I have no idea," Katrina replied to Jack, her face falling again, the laughter dying out from his cute little 'splat' on the ground.
"That's the problem... it's a mess! A big. fat. frickin'. mess!" After every emphasizing pause, Katrina tugged at a different cord, mostly in hopes of yanking them apart. Sadly, the mass only seemed to slowly tighten into a more recognizable form, looking more like a ball instead of just a... lump.

"...I don't know if that helped," Katrina added a few seconds afterward, staring at the ball in her lap, the aftermath of her little outburst. She lifted her eyes to Jack's, making a pouty puppy-dog face. "Heeelp meee-hee-hee..."

"Well..." she began, thinking for a few moments. This was her chance to hint at something she'd wanted for awhile now. But would he go for it? What if he didn't and he thought that she was... well... Those thoughts were drowned from her mind as she watched his arms working at the drum set. How she wanted the same hands that worked at those pegs to feel the skin that was hidden by her clothing. She was willing to reveal it to him.
"Maybe... we could go back to the bus before the others get there?" she asked, looking at him in a suggestive manner. She hoped that he would get the hint from what she had started. She didn't want to say it out loud in case anyone walked around them heard what they were talking about. "Or maybe not even the bus. Maybe... we could find a room somewhere in the venue that's empty?"

Jack laughed a little at Katrina's attempt to untangle the wires by tugging at them. He took the now tightly wound pile from her lap and examined it. He blinked a few times as his eyesight went a little blurry, putting his thumb and pointer fingers into his eyes and adjusting his contacts before going back to look at the mass.

"We shouldn't pull on the cords. We should lace them through until they come loose," he said as he looked at her. "Do you want to start on that end and I'll start over here?" he asked as he picked up the female end of a microphone cable and began to untangle it slowly.

"Look at Jack being all smart," Zack commented as he walked closer to them, heading to where his bass sat on the side of the stage. He sent Katrina a wink as he walked past.

Rian's fingers fumbled on the last peg, dropping it as soon as the drums came apart. They clattered to the floor, but luckily there was clattering and booming noises coming from all over the stage--no one turned to look in the direction of his. And that was good, because Rian was pretty sure he'd just gone bright red.

"Oh, uhm... you want to..?" Rian's voice got hushed, unable to finish his words. Briana was hinting at THAT... Ohmygawdohmygawdohmygawd.

He swallowed again, but swallowed wrong; he could feel as the saliva took a wrong turn, tickling at his tonsils and threatening to head into his lungs. He coughed loudly, hitting his chest with a closed fist to clearing his throat and stop his sudden choking, cursing inwardly at his awkward reaction... He had to play it cool! Be smooth! Put on the charm!
But gawd, all he could think of was seeing that gorgeous figure naked... and that just left him tongue-tied. And choke-y.

"...You want to get out of here?" he asked, sticking his thumb out from the balled-up fist and jabbing backward through the air with it, as if he were hitchhiking. His face was still a bit flushed, but he managed a smile. Thank God--his lips finally worked.

"Oki doki," Katrina responded enthusiastically, smiling at him. That was.. a really good idea, actually. She felt like saying "Look at you, being all smart"...but she was interrupted by almost the exact same words, coming from Zack's plump lips. When had he gotten over here?
Katrina shook her head, bangs flying out of her face just in time to catch a wink from Zack. She smiled sheepishly, her eyes fluttering back in his direction in a way that was confused, but could be taken as a bit flirtatious. Their mindlink freaked her out for a moment, leaving her in a silent stupor for a split second-- but then she realized that Zack didn't know she'd been thinking the same thing as him... and neither did Jack. They weren't mind readers or anything! Haha..ha...hmm.

She just looked like a freak, sitting there silently. Dammit.

Katrina looked down and fiddled with one of the cables, lacing it through the morph of cords just as Jack had explained. The task was so much simpler--she untangled one of the cords almost immediately.

"Oh wow, it really works.." she mumbled, giggling as she looked to Jack, his fingers working away at a mic cable. "Progress!" She looked up into his eyes for some hint of approval. She thought it was quite an accomplishment.
But, then again, they still had like a hundred more that were all woven together still... And those little buggers were woven tight, thanks to her wonderful idiotic move back there.

"You wanna give us a hand?" Katrina asked Zack, flipping her dangling curls over her bare shoulder in an attempt to be... alluring? If asking for help with manual labor could be alluring. But she sweetened her voice till it was as sweet as honey. "The more the merrier, after all." She flipped around her handful of now freed cords with a tiny giggle.

Rian's sputtering began to make Briana blush out of embarrassment. Did he not want to go that far? Or had she caught him off guard? But finally he spoke and she realized that she hadn't messed up. All of that behavior was because he was caught off guard. Thank God, she thought as a smile curled onto her lips. She tried her best to make it a seductive smile, but she was too giddy to even pull it together and it just came out as a wide grin.

She stood from her kneeling position and took his hand as she went up, tugging him up along with her. Someone else would load the drums into the trailer; they'd done their work for the night. Well, their "hard work" was just about to begin.

Zack stopped his trek across the stage to look at them a moment. Jack was too busy focusing on the cords to see the hopeful look on Katrina's face. Or was it something else? He wasn't sure, but he took a glance over at his basses that sat there needing to be carried away.

"Um... let me go take care of these and then I'll be back to help," he said with a smile. He wasn't going to skip out on an opportunity to help Katrina.

"Got it!" Jack shouted as he tugged free another wire.

Briana took his hand in hers, and he let her lead him away from the stage just like that, grinning dumbly like a puppy in love. That's what he was, wasn't he? Yup. Absolutely. If he had a tail, he would've been wagging it.
But dayummm, Briana was swinging her hips almost as if she had one. Rian was getting really excited; in more ways than one. He squeezed her hand tighter for a second, stepping forward with a great big lope and taking the lead.

"Here... let's slip back here," he offered with a playful smirk, leading her back behind the curtains just backstage.

"OK," Katrina said with a pleased smile. "Hurry back!" she called after Zack as he quickly started his cleaning. Yesss, she'd hooked him!
Smiling smugly, Katrina felt very pleased with herself. She started wriggling a few more cords apart from the mass, her smile growing to a wide grin when Jack let loose an excited shout of accomplishment.

"Yeahhh!" Katrina cheered him on, offering a high five as her other hand twiddled with the end of an amp cable. "Keep up the good work, man! We might be done before Zack even gets back... well," she looked at the mess again, "Maybe not."

As she re-assessed the mess around her for perhaps the fiftieth time in the past five minutes, Katrina caught sight of another familiar face walking across the stage. It wasn't Zack coming back like she had expected-- instead, it was Alex! But... he was looking a bit down. She raised her voice to offer the opportunity for him to help them out, basically thinking it would be fun to grant him the same volunteering opportunity that she had extended to Zack earlier... but somehow the words wouldn't come. Alex just looked... not right. Like he wasn't himself.
Like something was wrong.

Briana let Rian take the lead, biting her lower lip to keep herself from smiling too much and giving away they're position to the others. She laced their fingers together before being pulled behind the curtain offstage. She saw where he was leading her; across the last bit of stage there was a door that said "Employees Only". Well, they could bend the rules. After all, Rian was a rockstar. He could do what he wanted.

Jack looked at Katrina as she cheered him on, feeling a fluttering in his chest. She approved of him! Maybe he should work more often... As he watched her, he saw her face turned to look at someone else. He looked where her eyes were turned and spotted Alex.

"Hey man! Give us a hand over here or we'll never get home!" He shouted, a grin on his lips.
