Why?; Why do you believe what you believe?

We all have our own beliefs and values regarding religion, whether we follow a religion, are atheist or are simply not sure. I'm sure at many times people have said 'Why?'. This is your chance to answer that. Why do you believe what you believe?

I am a Christian. I have been bought up in a Christian family and was taught Christian beliefs and values. I always accepted it (apart from a few times in my life when I made a statement against it) but never really totally understood it. I went along with it because my parents did. Then, at Soul Survivor (a massive Christian event, held every year) I was prayed for. I felt the power of God and the Holy Spirit rested on me. I could feel an immense peace. It was not a human kind of peace, as in no war, quiet etc; it was a supernatural peace. I knew at that moment I believed in God and I loved Jesus and have never looked back. I got baptised the following November.

Why do I still believe it? I still believe for a number of reasons. Firstly, it makes sense. When I think about it all: all of creation, my life, my town, the World... it makes sense to have God there! I can't really explain this, but it just makes sense. Secondly, I have seen God at work. Taking just one example, a few years ago At Soul Survivor, my friend fell off his skateboard and broke his ankle. He could not walk on it at all and had to be carried down to the Big Top (the place main meetings are held). Once there, we decided to ray. Within a few moment of starting to pray, his foot was healed! The massive swelling that was there was gone, he felt no and he could walk and jump about! I have seen many other miracles like this.

I'm a Catholic, a proud Catholic.

I believe in what I believe in for many reasons. It makes sense, my parents involved me into the religion, and I enjoy it.

I think religion (no matter what religion makes sense) is more to believe in than atheism.

I won't go into much detail now, as I've got some things to do. However, I'll edit this post in the future, or add another post to go into further detail.

Johnny, when you say you are Christian, do you just say that because your parents are, or do you have a proper relationship with Jesus?

With all due respect to Johnny, I do believe he's a Catholic.
