I love music - it is a very big part of my life. I love both listening to and playing it. I play the trumpet, which I love and am taking Grade 5 next Saturday. :D I think that being able to play an instrument is great; it is a great way to let our your creative talent and have fun. I also have made a few friends due to music (through bands I play in).

Do any of you play instruments, and what experiences have you had with them?

I own an organ. I'm not too great at playing, but it's always fun just to sit down, and play it. It's relaxing. It's the same with music too. Even when I'm not playing it, I find *some* music to be serene, and enjoyable to listen to.

Thanks. :D

I quite like the euphonium (though rarely ever see one :P ). It makes quite a nice sound and can play some good stuff.

Ah, ok. I think that if you don't enjoy playing music, you shouldn't - you can only do it if you love it.

Also, trumpet exam in 5 days! :D :S

That is why I hate to see parents forcing their child into an instrument. It will not benefit the child at all, and they will end up hating music.

I think that parents should suggest it during 5th grade year of there child but not force them to play an instument.

I totally agree. There is nothing wrong with parents suggesting it to a child, but forcing them to is awful. I also think that parents should accept it when a child decides to quit; there's nothing worse than a parent not letting a child give up.
