Please. No ponies.

It's less than 20 days away until release date (for NA, at least) yet there's barely any talk here about the first console Zelda game in 5 years...

From what little I've seen, it looks like it's gonna be a blast to play. Since my funds are running short, this may be the game I ask for Christmas or my birthday.

Since I know people here are going to pick this up, what do you think? Excited? Hopeful? Will you even buy it?

I don't think many of us are actually going to pick it up, though. The Wii's dead. The only reason I'll be getting Skyward Sword is because I found a Wii Motion+. If I had to buy one of those suckers, I would probably go without playing this one.

I'll admit, last year I wasn't fond of it at all. But over the past few months I've been watching trailers and keeping an eye on screenshot and info updates (I've even spoiled a few details for myself) and I have to say, I'm pretty hyped now. So hyped, in fact, that I'd buy the limited edition pack with the gold Wii remote and soundtrack if I had the money. But I'll just need to settle for the game and, grudgingly, Motion Plus... ugh.

The story itself is said to be 35 hours long, and double that when all the side-quests are taken into consideration. The sky may not be as vast as WW's Great Sea, but of course, there's still the land beneath the clouds (trying to be cautious of spoilers here). The art direction has really grown on me too. From the trailers and screenshots I've seen thus far, the impressionist style is glorious and more apparent than I expected. Really makes up for the Wii's lagging in graphical power.

I am really excited for it honestly. The open area that you can explore seems like it will be a blast to fly around and just see what secrets you can find (Although like Zero said its not as big.) The thing that intrigues me the most is the upgrade system and I am interested to see what you can upgrade your gear into.

Myself I will be picking up the limited edition because my motion plus broke.

The Wii's dead.
The Wii is not dead until both Rayman Origins and Skyward Sword are released. Fact.

But in all seriousness, my civil engineering classes have made it so that I never have time for any non-League of Legends video games. That said, I'm STILL planning on picking this game up and playing the shit out of it until being flung back into hell in January. And yeah, the Wii's on it's last leg, but that's really not an excuse to pass on this game. Especially seeing as we're "a social Zelda fansite." And it's a console Zelda game. That managed to get a 10/10 from Edge. Seriously, that's pretty damn impressive.

As much as it pains me to have to dig up a Wii Motionplus and turn on my Wii, I'll still get a copy eventually. I just can't pass up a Zelda, even if it is on a dead system.

You're talking to a guy who picked up a used SNES and PS2 over the summer. Not to mention that the only games I have for my PS2 are Rayman and Crash Bandicoot. Which are PS1 games.

That said, they could be releasing Skyward Sword on the Gamecube and I'd still get it. The platform makes little difference to me, so long as I have it.

Well, all the articles I've found really seem to be talking it up. I'm glad I don't have a lot of expectations for this installment; my expectations can be shattered easily this way. Twilight Princess was kind of the opposite. I stalked it during its whole development and ended up kind of disappointed.

I do want this game, yes, but the whole Wii Motion Plus aspect pisses me off. I hate having to buy extra peripherals that should have been there from the beginning for one game.

I think that only the special edition comes with the gold Wiimote/Motion+ and game (costs extra), and you can just buy the game byself for the normal asking price. (599 US Dollars $49.99 US)

May be wrong though. I haven't seen much in terms of info for this game, so hopefully when I do play it, it'll be an excellent experience.

um.... No? I'm very certain the Special Edition only comes with one, unless Nintendo has been communicating information with me incorrectly. So no. You still have to pay twenty dollars more, which is more than a new PS3 game. Therefore, someone who doesn't care about special editions because he doesn't buy into retarded crap obviously doesn't want to have to pay 20 dollars for something that Nintendo should have gotten right in the first place.

Well, I ordered the huge limited edition package the other day there. I figured it'd be a better deal rather than buying Motion Plus separately and missing out on a brand new remote and soundtrack CD.

SO EXCITE.
