When chatting online, how often do you use IM/text speak? (Lol, XD, rofl, brb etc.)
Always, rofl! CS (chat speak) is SDA! (so damn awesome!) 0 (0%)
Most of the time, I'll Lol here and there 2 (15.4%)
Sometimes, when it is suitable 6 (46.2%)
Not often, if not rarely, you don't need text speak to talk 3 (23.1%)
Never. Why should I abbreviate everything and use letters for smilies 2 (15.4%)

I don't use it often. Only for stuff like "BRB". I don't like using Lol or XD much, so if I need to "laugh" I'll post something like "Hahah" or whatever. And abbreviations on everything make things way tougher to understand.

Dies first.

Never. Only time I ever used it was as a crutch when I was first learning how to type. In second grade or so.

A little, like lol of brb.

....I never understood what brb meant exactly.
Was it "Bathroom break." or "Be Right Back."?

>> I never abbreviate words, save "brb". However, I always use lots of text-smilies. I find that posts lack emotion without them, but I dislike the actual smilies provided.

Most of the time. Allow me to explain:

Between my closest friends, "lol" has more or less become a placeholder or sorts when we can't think of anything to say or are just not interested very much in what the other is chatting about. It gets used a lot. I'd like to cut back on it, but, honestly, I sometimes can't think of anything else to say and it's very convenient to have at my disposal.

Outside of that, though, I rarely use "xD" and whatnot, although (and this may shock some) I do use ":3", "x3", etc., fairly often.

I almost always type out abbreviations such as "brb". I'm not sure why.

I'll use BRB and smilies. But I don't use many other text lingo. I actually detest using "lol."

I try to avoid it, but usually if I say "brb" I'm being very forcibly to get off the computer immediately and thus don't even have time to write a whole message before someone yells "HURRY UP!" at me. Smilies are just a fact of chatbox living, but in text messages or on facebook, again, I try to avoid them like the plague.

I use smilies and things like brb, etc...

I don't use lol much because I don't care for it much. I usually use it sarcastically.
