This idea sprung from an argument that Waterfox and I had in the chatbox recently. Each temple will be measured up against each other based on a criterion. Shout out your suggestions for new categories or list your own rankings on how the temples each stack up. So our first category: Cleanliness: #1. Light Temple - The Temple of Time. Not much to say about it. The stone work is crisp and clean and always well chiseled. The marble is always polished, the floors are always buffed clean, carpet is vacuumed reguarly, and, the windows are spotless (how does Acolyte even get up there to clean them?!) And speaking of windows. No matter what time of day it is, there will always be light shining through them further accenting the shine of the place. The icing on the cake is that the Temple of Time holds 3 shiny spirit stones, and one very nice looking Master Sword (when someone hasn't run off with it). However, Acolyte's place isn't littered with traps that often make messes when sprung (see the later temples). Just one big blue block sorta in the middle of the place.#2. Water Temple - I don't know how Waterfox does it, but for a temple with so much sediment (erosion) running about, he keeps his waters crystal clear. Most of the stone work is pretty crisp (save for a few broken walls and eroded blocks). The metal bars aren't even rusted! How does he do that?! Unfortunately, he has a few rusty switches and the basement floor is pretty filthy. Dark Link's room is pretty nice, but that poor tree never gets any sunlight. Also, the boss room has terrible water rings at water level.#3. Forest Temple - Surprised to see this one so high up? Well, for a temple in the middle of the woods, it's pretty orderly. Even though a lot of the stone work is broken and covered in vines, everything is well kept. The previous owners even put in carpet in few corridors. There's a problem with all the spider webs in the place and some of the leaves have stained the walls, but the place is so green that you can't really notice. Plus, the Forest Temple has a lovely gallery on the top floor with velvet rope! Not too shabby.#4. Fire Temple - These next two temples are in the middle. They aren't exceedingly good, but they aren't exceedingly bad. The Fire Temple gets points for having few to no germs or bacteria within. It's just to freakin' hot for much of anything to live in there. So it's a real healthy place. There are several prison cells within that FireNeko keeps pretty well maintained...why he needs so many cells is beyond me, but that has nothing to do with cleanliness. The beds are clean and the bars are polished. Other than that, there's just way too many rusty switches and chunks of rock lying around (some rocks have bite marks in/on them). Plus the keese flying around don't care where their flaming droppings land.#5. Wind Temple - The Wind Temple is a tad on the dusty side with all the pollen and dust blowing around. The fans sometimes leave oily messes on the ground too. This temple is a lot of open corridors filled with grass. Grass that could stand to be mowed every now and then. The place isn't very orderly, but you'd expect that of the wind. There are some random bare trees with faces scattered around the place for some odd reason. The boss room is also a big messy sand pit. So the positive with this place is that it has lots of open space. The negative is that it is too dusty to breathe most of the time. Windja, I'd expect the air quality to be a little better in such a temple.#6 Earth Temple - Two words, Stixx: Vacuum and cleaner. I know it's the Earth Temple and all, but there is dust EVERYWHERE! You know that finger wipe thing that drill sergeants do when they are checking their troops gear for cleanliness? If you were to do that in this temple at any location, you'd get a big pile of mud on your finger. Other problems include the mass amounts of skulls on the floor. Plus there is the mausoleum on on of the lower floors where redeads just pop out of the walls whenever they feel like. The reason this temple isn't lower is because it does have some sunlight shining in in a few places...though the holes made for those rays of light look rather haphazard. This place also has a nifty mirror shield and a bunch of dusty mirrors.#7. Spirit Temple - I seriously think someone built this place thousand of years ago and then AlphaBomber moved in very recently and just didn't bother to clean up. Burn marks on the walls from the millions of torches, eroded sandstone blocks everywhere, and skulls and dead creatures all over the floor (if you even want to call sand and dirt a floor). The things that look like they get any care is the mirror shield (which AlphaBomber makes his apprentice polish often), the silver gauntlets, and that gigantic statue leading to the boss room. Both are well maintained, but the rest of the place is in just utter shambles! And how do you expect anyone to get through that tiny hole at the entrance anyway?!#8 Shadow Temple - Surprise surprise...my temple is in DEAD last (c wut i did thar?). I'm really astounded that this place hasn't collapsed yet. The architecture is just terrible. The floors are made mostly of dirt and mud with a few stones or wood blocks placed here and there. No need to go into detail about the bloodstained walls. The many traps and torture devices are poorly maintained to the point of being severly dull and rusty. I don't even bother trying to clean anything because...how are you supposed to clean the walls of a bottomless pit anyway?! I have several of them. The creatures inside just roam about and do their "business" where and whenever they want (don't go too deep into Bongo Bongo's room for you own sake!). All the wood is rotten and the little bits of water that the place has is extremely poisonous. Finally, there isn't a piece of metal in the place that isn't rusty. There you have it! If you'd like the temples ranked based on some other criteria, I'm open for suggestions. Also, if you disagree with any points, speak up! |

If the pits in your temple are bottomless, I think it is already starting to collapse. I'd advise phoning Flip This House, but they're spending a lot of time at Stone Tower Temple now. I'd like to see an order on accessibility. I'm guessing more accessible would be better. |

I don't think the Light Temple is particularly well-kept. I mean, no offense to Aco, but most of it is missing! The Temple of Time is supposedly just the end of it, or something like that. |

^ Never heard that before. Either way, you don't even notice what is missing. SL92, do you mean handicap accessibility or how easy it is to get in and walk around in? |

Bonus points for wheelchair-accessible, but I doubt any of them are. XD How easy it is to get in and walk around for normal people/Link. |

I think location could be a good thing to rate them on. Other possibilities could be music, design, inhabitants(Creeps or bosses), or maybe items. |

Yeah, but things like music, decor, and design are all subjective. Location might be nice... |

If we DID do music, Forest Temple would win. Then Spirit, then Shadow. The WW ones would fail, sorry to say. |

"Ages ago, we ancient Sages built the Temple of Time to protect the entrance to the Sacred Realm... This is the Chamber of Sages, inside the Temple of Light... The Temple of Light, situated in the very center of the Sacred Realm, is the last stronghold against Ganondorf's evil forces. " The Temple of Time and the Temple of Light are connected, but they are not the same. You can't really judge the cleanliness of the Temple of Light, since the only part you see of it is the Chamber of the Sages. I'd probably switch the Earth and Spirit Temples around on the list. There is the cursed blue fog stuff in the Earth Temple, and the Spirit Temple is not as run down as you make it out to be. I don't think location would be a good one. The Light Temple would easily win, being in the Sacred Realm. The Wind Waker Temples would lose, both being on barren islands. |

Forest Temple winning with music is correct. Then Spirit (my favorite temple), Shadow, Earth, Time, Water, Fire, and Wind. Or something like that, anyway. Earth Temple places high for rubber band sounds, and if you try to block out memories of the Water Temple while listening to the song, iz very pretty. Yeah, location and accessibility go hand in hand. Dooooo eeeeet. |

It will be done. And that sound in the Earth Temple is made from the instrument called the didgeridoo. Australian in origin...no wonder Godot was the Earth sage. |

As suggested by SL92, the second category is: Accessibility: As a landscape architect in training, I think of disabilities when hearing the word "accessibility" now a days. But these temples will be ranked on ease of access by an able bodies person. Also how easily one can move around inside. We'll have to assume the traveler somehow got past the obstacle that prevents Link from normally getting into these temples though. So, starting with the most accessible: #1. Forest Temple - Well anyone with a rope can get into this place and then start walking about. No huge pits that need a super special item to cross, no huge walls that are impossible to climb (thanks to all those vines). So, given that the wanderer has plenty of keys, this place is pretty much an open book. Watch out for the ghosts though! As for wheelchair accessibility, well someone in a wheelchair won't be getting into this temple at all...they can't climb up to the door.#2. Earth Temple - Well...unless you have a partner who can fly, you won't be getting much further than the first room. However, assuming the doors are all open, getting around this place isn't too hard. The few pairs of switches that need to be activated at the same time can be solved by petrifying a few Chus. Bring a nice pair of shiny objects with you and you'll be good to go in this place. The huge problem is that you need someone who knows how to play the Earth God's Lyric on a harp. Wheelchair accessible? No...too many stairs, no ramps.#3. Fire Temple - The place is hot, but as long as you are careful, you can get around most of it. This place was built for people to get inside of. The only problems you'll face are rusty switches and unbearable heat. This place is surprisingly accessible to those in wheelchairs too! Moreso than most of the other temples.#4. Spirit Temple - This is a very agreeable temple. It was also built to be moved around inside. If you gotta go up, there are stairs and walls for you to climb. Problem is that half of this temple is inaccessible to adults, and half to kids. If you're smart, you can get around most of the traps. But you need those silver gauntlets to push around a bunch of big blocks. Not too wheelchair friendly.#5. Shadow Temple - Lots of chasms that need to be crossed makes this a pretty dangerous place to travel around. The huge problem with this place (besides the large pit you need to hover over) is the fact that you won't easily be getting around without the Lens of Truth. But if you stumble around long enough, you'll find your way. There are also some blast away walls that need to be blown up. Pits aren't wheelchair accessible...#6. Wind Temple - Most people have trouble travelling vertically. You have to do that a lot in this place. However, there are a lot of climbable areas that would let any venturer wander in pretty deep.#7. Water Temple - This place is at the bottom of a fairly deep lake. But we're assuming you got past that somehow. You either have to be a very good swimmer and climber to get around this place, or you need to be able to breathe underwater for long periods of time. Not to mention there are no elevators or stairs anywhere in this one. You have to climb almost everywhere you go.#8. Light Temple - Security is way too tight in this place. Gotta grab 3 spiritual stones to get into the cool room. Because this "temple" only has two rooms, the one security mechanism makes it impossible to get to an entire half of the temple. It is, however, very handicap accessible...except for the stairs that lead up to the front door |

PROTIP: Temple of Time is NOT the Temple of Light. *SPOILARS FOR OOT!* Zelda is the Sage of Time, therefore if there is a sage of time, then she must have a temple. Connected are they? Yes. The same thing? Heavens no. |
