"Then we have something in common..." She said of his father. "I'm sorry." She told him, sincerity lacing her words as she looked away from him.

"No doubt I have a narrow view of the world. I'm well educated, but it's surely indoctrination. Up until a month ago I spent the first seventeen years of my life on a station of 35 people on a remote moon base. That base...it...it's my home, but something never felt quite right about it. And my father never did tell me what happened to my mother..." She said with a shrug. She partially believed she was tank bred, but left that part out for fear of freaking them out.

"I don't think the two of you have a chance in hell against Cerberus on your own. But do you believe that absolves you of any need to assist?" She asked. "The first thing people in the alliance are going to ask me, is how I know any of this...I'm...I'm just a kid, I don't know how to construct lies of that magnitude."

"i'd say giving you a ride is assisting wouldn't you? I could leave your ass here if your going to act like that." Jack said.

Sarfan eased his finger off the trigger but kept his shotgun out. "Perhaps instead of trying to *Breath* lie, you could tell the *Breath* truth."

Jack nodded. "Alliance will more readily believe your a scared girl running from an abusive Cerberus father than you might think. And no matter what they'll look at whatever intel you have. Either way, standing around talking isn't doing much of anything for anyone."

Sarfan put his shotgun away and went back to work moving crates. Jack went back into the shuttle and got to work on the console again. The shuttle was obviously a lost cause. It had power, and it's engines were working, but it's drive core was a no go. Jack didn't have the knowhow or time to try and fix it either. He did however manage to pull up something else. Kodiak drop shuttles used a VI. Jack yanked the one off this shuttle and loaded it onto a OSD. Perhaps he could use it for help with the Maverick.

Sarfan pulled some boxes away from a pile and found something large underneath them. "Jack!" he called and started to move some more boxes away from it.

Jack ran over and helped him slide the crates and containers to the side to reveal a X3M in good shape. It had been protected by the pile of crates around it and the only visible damage to the vehicle was a layer of dust. "Wow, good find Sar. The shuttle is a no go but i bet this baby still works."

Jack pulled a cloth away from the hood of the car and looked at the hood decal. emblazoned in blue and silver on the front of the aircar was the Ford logo. The X3M was such a popular model all across the galaxy that earth vehicle manufacturers had started building them as well. Jack climbed into the drivers seat. it required a keycode access, probably tied into Donovan Hock's ID but Jack was better than that. He reached under the dashboard and started pulling out wires and tying them into his omni-tool. "give me a minute."

Sarfan tapped the side of the aircar and then waved the girl over. "You, girl. *breath* help me clear these boxes away from the rest *breath* of the car."

Nadia scratched her head. Tell the truth, huh? My Dad would hate to hear that...". "I love it." She said with a smile. She thought for a second, the girl's grin growing. Who knew a pair of despicable mercs would have such a good life lesson for her? "Thank you..." She said.

Nadia lived up to her word, carrying weapons out into the open for the two of them, but she was called over by the Volus. he called her "girl", and she felt prompted to introduce herself. "No problem. And, My name's Nadia, Nadia Wingston. Pleased to meet you." She told the Volus, as she started lifting some of the higher-to-reach boxes out of the way. It didn't take the agile teenager long to get them out of the way, and she moved out of the way to let Sar go through.

"There you go." She told him. "Would either of you have a problem with me taking a set for myself? My dad will be back to collect me at some point, and it would be nice to put up a fight. I won't if you have a problem with it." She told them.

It took Jack only a minute or two of playing around and then the engine of the aircar sprang to life "Yeah! Built Ford tough. We got some transportation."

Sar pushed the last box off the side of the vehicle as the aircar started to hover slightly off the ground a few inches. "Come on girly, get in. We'll take you to our ship. Sar?"

"Everything will be ready for you when *Breath* you get back. Just *Breath hurry." The Volus said.

Jack nodded to his partner. "We'll be back with the ship. Just be ready to load those crates quick. I've already spent longer here than i wanted to."

Nadia nodded. "Right on." She responded, before hopping in the passenger seat. She closed her door, and waited for Jack to get in. She wondered why she wasn't being left behind to help unload all the stuff. She thought about her father; a man who never seemed to care about her for her. She wondered if she was just a female clone of him. They were definitely related, she'd checked it out. When Jack got in, she looked over at him and nodded.

"Another day, same bull shit..." She muttered.

"Tell me about it." Jack said.

He put his flight gloves on and activated the aircars haptic adaptive interface. "Hang on, I don't do speed limits very well."

Jack closed the doors and the aircar took off. He laid in a course to take them back to the ship at the starport.

Sarfan hung out on the landing pad with the boxes.

"I've never even seen a bull." She commented, scratching her head. She looked over at him watching him start up the car. Would she ever get a chance to see what Earth used to look like? "Do you think this is the end for us? I mean... not just humans, but everyone? Is it time to cash in your chips and live like Kings for the month you might have left?"

Jack sighed trying to phrase his response. "I've owned a ship for a while now. It's freedom. Go anywhere at any time so long as we have gas and supplies. For me, thats living like a king. Been doing it since I was discharged from the Alliance. Reapers are going to try and take that from me and i'm going to do my best to not let them." He said after a moments pause. "If we have a month, a year or a century i don't know."

Jack pulled up to the starport docking bay where the Kowloon class freighter known as the MSV Maverick was docked. He pulled the aircar right up alongside the starboard side of the ship, next to the center cargo container on the starboard side. He tapped a button on his omni-tool and the cargo container started to open up on it's side garage door style. Once it was fully open, Jack carefully guided the aircar into the cargo hold and landed it on the deck. "Well that went better than expected." Jack said as he shut the aircar down and opened the door.

"I'm going to the cockpit. Hang out here and strap the aircar down." Jack said while pushing the button on his omni-tool again to close the cargo container door. "There should be some ratchet straps in the footlocker over there." Jack said and pointed. "Strap the car down while i fly us back to the estate."

She could understand that kind of freedom to an extent. This was the first time in her life she'd been away from Cerberus. It had been pounded in her head, over and over again that humans were the dominant race. But the Volus dude back at the weapon storage didn't seem like such a bad guy, and seeing most of the Cerberus ops and their upgrades, a lot of them weren't even fifty percent organic anymore. It was difficult to believe that they truly believed what they preached. To be able to just travel with a down to earth dude who just wanted to fly around and do what he wants, spoke volumes about true freedom. She was able to reply with little more than a nod though, as she began to strap the car in. Nadia wondered what the citadel would be like. Would it have lots of Volus? What would other aliens be like? She knew most of the races, just from books, but the Volus was the first non-human she had ever encountered aside from dinner.

Jack went into the cockpit and leaned over the pilots chair to activate the ship's engines. As the drive core and engines spun up Jack did a quick scan of the area and locked in on the signal from the beacon that Sarfan had dropped.

As the ship finished it's power up sequence jack didn't bother with preflight checks. He sat down and laid in a course for the beacon. The Maverick was undocked and in the air in minutes. Minutes after that it was hovering next to the landing pad at the Donovan estate.

Jack locked the ship into hover mode to keep it steady where it was and then headed down to the cargo bay that he had turned into an unofficial hanger. "We're back." He said as he opened the cargo bay's garage door again. Sunlight poured in through the door and Jack hopped down onto the landing pad. Sarfan was there standing beside crates he'd stacked up and a cargo lift he'd commandeered from the store room inside.
