The Non-Photographer
without light only dark exists. strong is the dark side in the... DARK! :)

(canons have no AF assist lamp in their cameras, therefore needing flash units to assist in AF in dark scenes. this is where nikons have advantage over canons.)

definitely! you have to know how light reacts with objects.
how does light and shadow define the forms in a 2D picture?
how does light react with film/digital sensor and how is the
exposure controlled by the camera?

and the best way to start learning portrait lighting is a room
with an open window. it would be brighter than using a lamp.
and it's continuous so you can see the changes.

so go out and explore light! Posted Image

@p-chan: I too haven't mastered sunlight and available light yet (as evidenced by my photos last night) but I'll still go to Master abortretryfail's Intro to Studio Lighting workshop next month out of curiosity :)

@p-chan: You're lucky you have access to good gears at the store, ako once I leave Eisen's studio, that's it, that's the last I'll see those expensive lighting equipment so I might as well get it over yet. Ako siguro ikuyog ako daughter because she loves to pose. I'll ask Eisen if she could model during breaks.
