Fafis and Mamas, if you were to shoot a group portraiture how would you set up your lighting? I guess two or more flashes would be ideal, but let's say you only have 1 flash how would you place your lighting or arrange the group to maximize your light. I was ask by my GF to take a photo of her bakers and assistant bakers with herself for their company picture. I need your help fafis and mamas. ![]() |

if mag group shot ko bai, shutter priority raman ako gamit, exp.time is 1/60-1/100 range(depende sa light available)....then sa flash, naka mount ra sa body and set to ETTL/auto with diffuser...and pwede ra 50mm f.length or wider...f/3.5 or smaller..:) that sample photo above kay naay room light usa and since ubos man ang ceiling, ako ra gipa bounce.. try aiming your flash diagonally up at about 60-75 degrees under a low white ceiling from your camera if you're using 1 flash. |

you need to bounce more light off from the ceiling to soften or eliminate shadows of people in front of the group. |

i see. but wouldn't bouncing off the ceiling cause the "racoon eye" effect? shadows under the eyes of the subject fafi? |

if there is some distance between you and the group and the ceiling is not too high then you can avoid it. and the simple "bounce card" trick... ![]() ...helps direct some of that light forward to fill in the white card/paper and rubberband has been an old standby for many photographers over the years. but if you want to take the flash off camera you'll have to put it a bit back to give enough spread so the light will fall on everyone in the group. the direct light will give sharp shadows but you can diffuse it... bouncing off the ceiling still works here or even the lighting by using slow shutter speeds to blend the flash in with ambient |
