Back Lighting This was very simple shot. Both in composition and execution, and one perfect example of producing an imageof an everyday object from an unusual and dramatic viewpoint. I use 1 flash to lit this subject and a translucent white fabric as the base for the leaf... ![]() 1 flash with snoot fired underneath the translucent fabric I place various leaves as subject on top of my reflector(its translucent fabric act as large softbank that gives soft light) and framed it up with my camera using 50mm + extension tubes then make a few test of exposure to obtain optimum details in my subjects... ![]() ![]() ![]() another subject using same setup ![]() cheers! |

@Fafa dj-dark: The more you practice and experiment Fafs, lalo ka gumagaling. (OT) Ayoko ko na mag-create ng new thread para sa tanong na ito (strobe rin naman pop-up flash unit, the cheapest kind, right): Regardless of whether it's a pop-up flash or one that is hot-shoed in, papaano ba nalalaman kung anong flash strength gagamitin at papaano i-adjust shutter speed? For example, kung ang meter reading ko says I need a shutter speed of 1/8 at f/5.6, alam ko na without IS, patay akong bata ako. I normally pop-up the flash, play around with the strength and shutter speed (usually 1/focal length x 1.6 but minsan lower kung kit lens basta naka-on IS and it's a static object) until I get a properly exposed image. But this is trial and error. Tulong naman peeps. Salamat. |

@Fafa p-chan: I only read some parts of part 1 and 2. Nag-depend di-ay behaviour sa flash sa shooting modes. Like kung manual, fill flash lang dyud siya (subject lighting). Since I don't use P, TV, AV, wala nako gi-memorize flash behavior ani na modes. From part II's Manual (M) exposure mode flash. "In manual exposure mode you specify both the aperture and shutter speed, and your exposure settings will determine how the background (ambient lighting) is exposed. The subject, however, can still be illuminated by the automatic flash metering system since the flash can automatically calculate flash output levels for you." So dili na di-ay nako kahinanglan hilabtan flash EV unless I'm going for a particular mood. I experimented and I really still prefer ambient lighting. The shadows that my eyes see are gone when I use the pop-up flash. I know with a dedicated flash-unit, I can perhaps retain the shadows. In any case, lens pa man ako next item in my short grocery list. I just thought naa mathematics behind using the pop-up flash, in the old days, naa siguro pero karun, the camera does all the work and the rest is mata-matik na lang
