Captain Mary Trix
|
![]() {Fifteen men on a dead man's chest Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum} The sun was setting as Captain Mary Trix entered into Tortuga waters. She could see the gun blasts and lights of the heathen town even from the helm of her ship. It was enough to make her fall in love with it all over again though she showed only mild interest at her destination to her crew. They were excited enough for the lot of them and she felt herself relieved at her timing for a visit. The crew obviously needed this outlet and Trix needed supplies, it was an easy win – win. Trix screamed out for them to prepare to dock and stirred her beloved into port. She was to proud and protective of her ship to leave it all to stand alone against the thieves of the city however, so instead, called out the shifts in which the crew would take to ensure The Nemesis safety before aiding with the docking. Trix may have been a Captain sober enough to see her crew wanted to ‘let loose’ or ‘go wild’ but that didn’t mean she was stupid enough to allow them to be careless when doing their jobs. Once docked, Trix set out with the first few crew heading for town. She took her time hunting down the right people for supplies and the sturdy hands who delivered it. Of course, it took some effort to keep her crews attention with so many women scandalously dressed around. She made a mental note to give them an extra day for ‘stress relief’s’ sake in the more lustful parts of town. Trix watched carefully as her supplies was taken care of and securely stored onto her ship before heading for some fun. She may have been a woman in a man’s world but that still didn’t mean she couldn’t enjoy the few perks being a pirate Captain could bring. So, Trix headed for the pub. She entered with a few of her crew behind her and motioned for them to leave her be. They knew she could take care of herself and she was aware enough to know they wouldn’t want to spend their only time on land for months with her. As she watched them go their separate ways Trix found herself a seat among the crowd of scoundrels. Luckily it was an empty table and she was able to have some peace to order her drink and observe. Got to love pirates She muttered to herself when she saw a group already beginning to start trouble. Trix pitied the staff of the wrecked down pub and nodded her sympathy to the barmaid as she brought her drink through the rough housing men. “Thanks Love.” She said and drank it down. It was already proving to be a long night and she certainly didn’t want to finish it sober. With that realization in mind Trix quickly motioned for the barmaid to bring another. She’d need to start heavily now if she wanted to pass out by dawn. Edited by Bellatrix Webb, Sep 7 2009, 06:18 AM.

Pirate Captain

Jack's lips would wrap clumsily about bottle's own, a beautiful match in the scoundrel's mind. Smug grin had quite an uplifting effect on the Pirate Lord's appearance. He seemed cheery and atypically aware of his surroundings. Particularly more so when compared to the drunken dullards what nearly filled the room to it's brim. He sat at the bar, accompanied by a few passed out blokes that had once been his able-bodied crew. Though, despite the fact that their livers had long since decided they needed a rest... Jack's kept on pumping the poison through his veins as though it were merely water. He murmured to himself the occasional sea shanty or two. "The mate was fixed by the bosun's pike; the bosun brained with a marlinspike; and cookey's throat was marked belike; it had been gripped by fingers ten; and there they lay, all good dead men; like break o'day in a boozing ken... yo ho ho and a bottle of rum." Alas, his quiet, mumbled singing was interrupted by what had become a common accessory for Jack when in port. That, of course, being a grungy but still decently pretty woman... rarely the same woman, but always the same type. More specifically, the type one never really held on to for very long anyway. Thus it wouldn't come to anyone's surprise when heated words were exchanged between the two. Within moments, however, the man seemed to have calmed the woman. In his calming, the inevitable begun... and as the pirate began to explain his long leave of absence, he didn't find it at all inappropriate to blow his own horn. It was obvious even outside of hearing distance that he was telling quite a miraculous story. Pirate's hands flew about as he began to relay about having been trapped in Davy Jone's Locker, and being rescued by his ever-faithful crew who had missed him terribly. But! Upon, as story continued one would learn that after being rescued he had realized all was amiss. Further still, he went on to speak of his selfless actions, and of taking it upon himself to save the seas from the East India Trading Company along with the evil and short Lord Cutler Beckett. Loon went on to describe a battle of epic proportions. Of releasing the dreaded heathen Goddess, Calypso... and even began detailing a sword fight against the Devil himself. While Jack seemed completely and inescapably sincere, the wench's rising rage seemed to go quite dangerously unnoticed. ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ I do hope I'm not too terribly rusty. ><; Edited by Jack Sparrow, Sep 10 2009, 12:42 PM.

Captain Mary Trix
|
Trix lounged herself against the hard wood of her chair and closed her eyes. She was relaxing in the feel of sweet intoxication and the sounds of Tortuga in her ear, sounds of home. Inwardly chuckling to herself at her own pathetic sense of comfort in the pit of a town Trix groaned. The drink had obviously hit her quicker then she had expected and now she watched the flurry of the pub through blurring eyes. It was actually fairly amusing, watching the pirates of the town with goggled eyes and the whores with clowned make-up, much like viewing a circus. Trix laughed and sat back up, drowning the rest of her drink. She wouldn’t give up this feeling of warmth and amusement for anything now that it had finally gotten interesting. She scanned through her surroundings, spotted members of her crew as she went. Her gaze faltered however when she notice a couple fighting at the bar. She didn’t recognize them but the woman appeared quite furious with the man, a Captain by the looks of him. That in itself could be the reason why she looked ready to throttle the man which only caused a small laugh to escape Trix’s lips. What was it about pirate Captains and their bad luck with women? Deciding for her own sick amusement to get a better seat for the show Trix slipped quietly over to the bar and observed. The man seemed to be weaving an enchanting tale about Davy Jones, and a grand adventure that left Trix head spinning though she doubted any of it was true. What Trix did know was true, was the rage slowly steaming from the woman’s pores. It brought a small smirk to Trix’s face to see the anger rolling off the whore and the pirate’s obvious naivety to it all. In fact it was much like watching a ship wreck- horrific, dangerous, and destined for doom but you just can’t look away. Of course, what was worse was the bets the men around her began to make on how long the woman would stand before she physically attacked the unsuspecting man. Trix had her money on the next few minutes and she wasn’t disappointed. She watched slightly amused as the woman began to raise her hand ready to strike. “Aye, that’s it love. Give ‘im whats for.” She teased having a sneaky suspicion that the man wouldn’t be to happy at her encouraging him bodily harm. Trix then turned to her best mate and knocked him across the back. “Ready to pay up Mr. Barrett?” “In your dreams Captain.” He responded without harm earning a slight chuckle from his Captain. |

"So, there I was," He spoke, tale continuing, "Up in the riggings... blade t'blade with Jones 'imself...." Despite the fact that the story was quite.... improbable... he sure was telling it rather well. As though it were a memory of yesterday. Full in detail and spoken with such enthusiasm. "In the heat of steel clanging against steel, his crosses mine and he leans in real close," Jack leaned in towards the lady, and his respective audience. "There he was, right in my face... an' lookin' at th' chest... an' he says Y'can do nothing without th' key!..." His nose scrunched as he impersonated the late Jones, even throwing on a ridiculous Irish accent for the occasion. "So," He chuckled, "I says I've got it already, an' Jones, he looks at me..." Pirate again paused to widen his eyes, mocking the surprised look Jones had given him, "...and he goes No'ya don't!" Again, silly accent left him, "But, while he thought he had me outsmarted... while he laughed at me like a lummox, he shows me where it was! There, in his tentacle beard!" Pirate waggled fingers against his own beard a moment. Then, with a slight smile he leaned against the bar, satysfied with his story, "...after that it was quite simple really. Was a wonder why none had yet to defeat the great fishy git." Jack never was too great with properly observing a woman's scorn. At least not when it was so heatedly directed towards himself, anyway. His unaware state was soon broken, however, by a few simple slurred sentences from the gathering crowd. Comments that had particularly gained his notice were those consisting of the idea that she had it in for him. This jarred the pirate from his self-absorbed moment of satisfaction and forced him into a more observant state of mind. Eyes wandered, and passing glance was taken of lady fair. It only took him a moment to spot balled fists, to which both brows would raise in slight surprise. "Love, I..." Captain had spoken up quickly, sincerity in his tone. It was all he could do in attempt to calm her. Though, his efforts were for naught. The moment any utterance of a third word to his sentence surfaced, was the same moment it was swiftly broken. Dainty hand had rose and fallen again, striking the dignity off of his smug face. Now, something was unusual about this scene. Whereas most men, particularly the ones in this town, would take movement to stop a woman from hitting them - be it by harshly grabbing wrist, or even hitting first - the Captain had just sat there, wincing. Nothing had been done to prevent it, and he merely held onto his cheek with a disappointed and bitter look on his face while she commenced the shouting. "It's over, Jack Sparrow!" Woman shouted, "I'm tired of yer excuses, I won't have any of it!" With that, the woman grabbed handfuls of her skirts and stormed out of the building, pushing over a few as she went. He watched her, and futzed with his jaw a little, obviously there had been some slight stinging with that blow. "Bullocks..." Jack muttered, lips askew as he sighed slowly, and would turn back to the bar. "Why is it people always assume I'm lying...?" Disgruntled man seemed to engage conversation with his rum, tilting the bottle as he gazed at the liquor inside. With a shrug, it was lifted and drained... and he soon seemed to have forgotten all about the lass with the strong arm, despite still having quite the unsightly dainty red hand imprinted 'pon cheek. |

Bella couldn’t help it but she was fascinated by his story. Then again Bella had always been a folktale fanatic and listened intently as the Pirate continued in his story. ‘Davy Jones’ Bellatrix rolled the name in her mind and wondered briefly what it would have been like to spar with the keeper of the sea. Not that she believed a lick of what the drunken man said, but more that she always did have an active imagination that enjoyed a good fantasy. Inwardly grinning at the man’s bravo in telling such a tale, and to a furious woman none-the-less, Bellatrix nearly felt sorry for the bloke, nearly. She somehow doubted much pity could be directed towards him when he obviously was the one to get himself into such a mess. Arching a brow when the woman finally struck Bellatrix held out her hand to her best mate. “Told ya she was ready to blow, a woman knows these things.” She teased him and watched with satisfaction as he mournfully gave her the money. Bellatrix took it with ease and turned her attention back to the pair when she heard shouted voices. Apparently this hadn’t been the first time the chap had lied and the woman gave him quite a reaction for it but Bella was surprised by the way he took it. No yelling back, no hitting her, not even an attempt to contain the screeching woman. It did pull a ting of pity out of Bellatrix black heart for the man. She ordered a couple of drinks with the money she just earned and walked with a slight sway to the Story-Teller, who was currently muttering to himself. She figured the man at least earned a drink for his weaving tales so set the pint down beside him. By then he had finished his rambling but Bellatrix had still caught his lingering question. “Because most good liars don’t weave stories so incredibly unbelievable.” She said to him with a wink and scooted the drink over to him. Bellatrix offered him a emotionless nod as a ‘chin up, mate’ sort of thing and went to leave. She turned back however , when a thought hit her. “You should have just told her you were caught in a battle with the Navy, she would have bought the likes of that.” |

Defeated man continued to sulk momentarily, and shook his head. He had known better. He had known that the lady with the strong arm wouldn't believe his story, even if he had seen fit to kindly spoon-feed it to her with marmalade. But, truth be told, all he really wanted was to be remembered. Captain continued to fiddle with depressingly empty bottle, hand wrapping about it's neck. As was common for him in times when rum ran low, pirate slowly began to slip into deep ponderings. Soon as they began, however, thoughts were interrupted... sure as they always seemed to be. "Thank'ye much, miss." Distant reply left the man in a slight daze as mug was slid in his direction. Automatic response, naturally. It took him a moment or so to even register that he'd just been given free rum from a complete stranger. By the time he turned to catch a glance at source of unusual kindness, said stranger relayed a bit of what he considered to be useless advice. Slight scoff left. It was not, necessarily, a rude sound towards the woman. Moreso a stifled and amused chuckle at irony which, at the time, only he could understand. "Thing is, I'm an awful liar, dearie." He replied, with almost no forethought. Frankly the statement made little sense, but he seemed to realize so as he went on to explain. "If it were a lie, I'd have been bumbling like all hell had broke loose. What's worse? She knows that.... an' didn't even give me a chance t'prove m'self. Ah well... " Pirate shrugged, shaking his head. Though out of nowhere, when it had seemed he was done speaking, a slightly sullen smile curled his lips - charming if not a bit sad. "B'sides, one can only get caught up by the Navy so many times before the story gets old." |

Trix nodded to his thanks, not looking anymore into it then a drunken pirate needing his cure, more booze. It was fascinating how much more rum could fix a situation and even Trix knew this from experience. After all, she hadn’t done the gesture out of sheer kindness but more out of understanding and praise over the fact that he amused her. Taking a drink from her own ale Trix continued her halt allowing him to respond to her comment. She laughed at his ‘confession’ and arched a brow. “Obviously.” She muttered though she turned her head to cover it and walked back over to sit with him. If Trix had to hear the whole story she didn’t want to be stuck standing uncomfortably during it. So, she settled beside him careful not to touch. She had a thing about touching and so instead kept a cold exterior to show she wanted her distance despite her amusement in his tellings. “Indeed, especially after the East India Trading Company. That much I know you were telling the truth. Evil man, Beckett was. Did he ever get his?” Trix had only crossed paths with the slimy bastard once but it had been enough of a meeting to last a life time. He had even managed to ruin her ship in the process. Trix inwardly growled at the memory of her beauty sinking under Beckett’s perfectly placed smirk. She had intended to go after him for that damnable deed but by the time she was able to commandeer another ship he was gone from the map. She always wondered what happened to the Git. “If there ever was a man to hate, it was him.” |

The Captain's smile rose at it's corners a touch further. Anyone with a mutual hatred for Beckett was worth a smile. "That he did." He confirmed with a curt nod, turning towards lady as she took her seat. Hands went about, just moving as he spoke... like any other pirate's tended to. "When Jones was defeated, y'see, someone else would have'te take 'is place. But my friend, Turner that is, he was dying so I helped his hand around a blade to stab th' heart. Then, he on the Dutchman and me on the Pearl... flanked Beckett an' shot 'is ship t' splinters." His nose scrunched, as he realized how much more ridiculous his story sounded now. Of course he had multiple objects of proof, some more convincing than others. He did consider proving himself since she was a woman, he figured mayhaps she might be lacking in trouble. That idea, however was short lived due to ponderance of Elizabeth... to which he made a rather sour face. Jack decided perhaps he should just not trust anyone anymore. It would be for the best. "Ah, sorry." He cleared his throat, "All this talk and I've failed t' introduce myself." He took off his hat a moment, red scarf mussed among likewise locks. "Captain Jack Sparrow, as it were. Although I'm sure y'heard th' lady yell so on her way out. Who might you be?" Either he was incredibly polite, or he was trying to change the subject. Possibly both. |

Bellatrix was amused despite herself, she could only assume it was because his story was taking her back in time. Back to the story telling of her father in Ireland and her books in England, it almost brought on a sense of sorrow before she was able to contain it. Instead she merely watched him with controlled interest and showed only a slight arch of her brow to display her approval on the subject. She smiled just slightly at his facial expressions and his animated way of speaking thinking it odd for a ‘Big Bad Pirate’ to seem so excited. Almost like a child trying to explain to an adult how there were pixie’s in the garden, it was enough to make her inwardly chuckle. As he faltered Bellatrix finished off her rum and waited as he introduced himself. she could tell by his mannerisms and talk that he was a lady killer but she was unimpressed…though he did have great eyes. Shaking that thought from her head Bellatrix scolded herself, she was not to get tangled into drooling over a man, even if said man had an ‘air’ about him. Once again mentally shaking those thoughts from her head Bellatrix merely nodded to Sparrow and arched a brow at his sudden polite behavior. “Pleasure, Captain Sparrow.” She said almost offering her hand formally before catching herself. Pirates weren’t ‘formal’ and to be such could cause reason for suspicion so instead she forced on a smile. “Name’s Captain Mary Trix, I’ve heard of you. You sail the Black Pearl, or did at least. Fastest ship on the seas.” It wasn’t so much a praise as it was a statement. Bella had heard of a ‘Captain Sparrow’ and the black sails he decorates his ship in. The stories had always fascinated her but she didn’t dare let that little bit of information move on to him. “How does one get such a ship? That is, if you don’t mind me asking…” (OOC: Welcome Back XD) |

Jack's smile was maintained in it's subtle state, charming to some... cocky to others. The pirate, as any other, enjoyed having a reputation... better still, he loved hearing about it. Though, as the woman went on to speak of his ship that smile's corners would falter. "Ah..." Deep inhale was taken, and released in a heavy sigh. He let corner of lip twitch in forced smirk, replacing his hat upon his head and tipping it lazily. "Well met, ma'am." was reply, followed by a short pause. "How? Now... that's a tale. But, miss, you didn't believe a word of my last story... so what's the point in relaying another?" He'd ask, raising a single brow in smartassed expression. Suddenly, he'd seem to remember the mug of rum that she had so generously bought her. He'd take a few moments to make friends with it. He had problems on his shoulders that he ought to be dealing with it... but after all the plight he'd been through he figured he deserved to be able to forget about it. For a short while, at least. [ I apologise deeply for the un-announced delay. Had some IRL problems but all's swell now! :) ] |
