Hello, I am posting to everyone on this new Lyme Disease & Other Diseases Forum about weight gain. It is an uncomfortable subject to talk about. But, if anyone has experienced this health problem and has any tips for losing the weight or why and how Lyme Disease causes you to gain excess weight when your exercise and diet plans have not changed in a negative way nor anyway for the fact. Thanks. :

I hope once we get some more members one will be able to answer that question. I myself have experienced mild weight gain. I lost 25 lbs in 6 only to gain it back between Feb (started treating Lyme) and last month. I work HARD, so I'm not really sure what has happened here. I will do some research and see what I can find for you!

That would be great if you found any information on it, I am hoping that some medications I am being taken off of will help drop some of the weight. :) I am sure working extra hard has affected your weight as well as your Lyme Disease, so you would have to keep a close eye on things to exactly know I think what was going on with it. Thank for the reply.

I too am having problems with weight gain and can't explain it. It is so uncomfortable. I was diagnosed just short of a year ago and cannot get the treatment I need.

I lost 25 lbs before I got diagnosed, I couldn't figure out why I was having all these symptoms. Now I have gained back 25 lbs. I'm horrible about sticking to a Lyme diet. I'm going to try South Beach and exercise to lose the weight-although I work pretty hard all week so I'm not sure much exercise will help.

South Beach will be good for Lyme too, because it's high in protien and low in carbs which is what I hear is good for Lyme disease.

I'm starting on Monday, so we shall see!

I just keep gaining weight, I lost about forty pounds and needed to get rid of forty more but already weight is coming back again. It is all around my face, neck, stomach. I also have a hump of fat on my upper back. The doctoros say that only Cushing's Disease/Syndrome explains the "buffalo hump" and one doctor recently said it may take ten years for a tumor to develop enough for me to test positive with it on the standard tests. Is there a link between Lyme and this kind of weight gain or maybe even Cushing's Disease is really Lyme? I have NO idea. In the process of researching this.

Hello Guys according to the centers for disease control over 25,000 people are diagnosed with Lyme disease yearly. Lyme disease propagates through tick attacks to humans. Signs mimic those of the flu including weakness, inflammed glands and sore joints and muscles. Without treatment, the infection may spread to the nerve system, causing pain in arms and legs among other symptoms. Thanks a lot!!
