Summer is here and that means so is Big Brother! If you haven't seen these already here are the links to get you ready. Meet the cast- https://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother/photos/1008403/meet-the-houseguests-on-big-brother-season-20/ House Tour- https://www.cbs.com/shows/big_brother/photos/1008407/take-a-tour-of-the-innovative-big-brother-20-house/130845/high-tech-takes-over-the-big-brother-house-with-a-silicon-valley-theme-/ There are several spoilers out already if you want to be spoiled before the show even airs. They came from the same source that spoiled everything last year so I'm guessing they are probably legit. I'm trying (not super successfully) to avoid them at least until after the first air show. Glad its all newbies for a change. Sounds like there are some fun twists planned (though they always sound fun until they get screwed up almost immediately) and maybe some cool stuff with some alumni. Feeds start after Thursdays show. Who's watching with me? |

I will be watching. Think I might have my Mom watching with me for her first time (well, she watched the recent mini-Celeb version)... I didn’t spend much time going over the cast. Oh, a lady from Vegas... do I know her, maybe? Nope. Okay. |

You sounded like Julie Chen in your introduction, jbrr :D I won't have time to get caught up on the first three hours until tomorrow. Do the Live Feeds start tonight, or did they start after last night's premiere? |

Thoughts after the 2-hour premiere... Scottie and his groan-worthy claim that he's never been kissed. Was Swaggy C (Ugh!) coached by Paul Abrahamian? I heard at least one "Your boy" amidst all of his diary room yelling. I know the diary room yelling isn't exclusive to Paul but he's the most recent offender. Sam is so funny! I'll be sad if she's the first one to go, and I can't imagine it will be easy to do much campaigning as a robot. Rockstar is trying too hard to be outrageous. I know they amp up their 'entertainment value' for their introductions, so it will be interesting to see which ones aren't as annoying as their first impressions. It's going to take me a minute to differentiate between Bro-Dudes Brett and Winston. It doesn't help that my Closed Captioning kept referring to Winston as Matt. |

After Thursday's episode... Sam the Robot's talk with Tyler in the pantry room was one of the most heart-breaking things I've ever seen on this show. Even when I watched it again, it still made my eyes water. It made me wish I was watching a show smart enough to explore the issues of her sense of isolation and how the hamsters are interacting with her in robot form. The other thing that I thought interesting was how the two alliances were more mixed than in the past, where the pretty/popular people would gravitate towards each other and those that didn't fall into that category would have to work together. I hated that Tyler nominated Sam but I can see how it's better not to rock to boat too much as the first HOH. |

I agree, that talk with Robot Sam and Tyler was the essence of Big Brother. If I thought it was a creative plan by AG I'd be impressed instead of turned off by the CGI and #bestevah twists and crap. I dunno. I almost never watched last season, and only watched anything after reading recaps. The focus on comps is pathetic and the mix of folks is so generic nowadays. The past casts have discussed OTR how they are coached and pressured into playing a role, and how much behind the scenes manipulation is going on, to the point where poor Caleb said Survivor (an edited show) was more real. They also apparently either do a pisspoor job screening for mental issues or are deliberately picking people they know will crack under the hothouse atmosphere. I'll probably read recaps and discussion boards and see is if catches my interest again. Having a few people I genuinely like is the key. Edited by KMInfinity, Jul 1 2018, 11:06 AM.

After I wrote that about the Sam and Tyler conversation pulling at my tiny heart, I did have a good chuckle at myself for being emotionally manipulated. I'm sure Production orchestrated that scene but I imagine it was difficult for Sam to be sequestered off while everyone else is interacting. And, my guess is that she's good at turning on the waterworks. That blurred line of real emotion and the maneuvers of Production. I'd guess that they are picking people with the potential for heightened emotional reactions but they aren't able to determine exactly how that person will react until they're in the house. |

I loved the Tyler/Robosam scene too. I do think there was some production involvement there but Sam/Tyler are close so maybe it was partially genuine. So after a couple days of feeds here are my thoughts... This cast is season six stripped of their personalities. Its very clear. The house is pretty much split right down the middle much like it was then too. Sadly these hamsters are not interesting in the least. Bayley/Swaggy showmance is groan-worthy. Both are pretty groan-worthy independently also. Swaggy did do his fair share of studying past seasons though. Faysal has potential if he can check his ego. Hes also getting hung up on Hayley who is flirting her way in with all the guys. Kaitlyn is super annoying. I need her gone soon. Rockstar is obnoxious and catty. Rachel is in a good spot she is the most liked member of her alliance by the other alliance. I like Angela but she will be a pre-jury boot I think. The Bro-dudes are typical bro dudes. Interchangeable. Kaycee has potential but i need to see more from her. JC is loud and annoying. I wanted to root for him but I cant. Tyler is my favorite so far. Hes riding the middle right now but he's smart and game savvy. Scottie is basically nonexistant. Sam is sweet, though apparently with a temper because they all keep talking about her cussing out production during the veto comp. As far as I can tell her only connection is Tyler. She has the special power so she'll be safe this week. Steve is trying to game but he's bad at it. I dont have high hopes for this bunch but we'll see what happens after the first couple evictions. |

Sam the Robot being snarky with Kaitlyn on Sunday's show made me chuckle. I guess that's the foreshadowing for her temper tantrum during the POV comp. When Swampy C is admonishing America for not awarding him the App Store prize and telling us to get it right next week, is that an example of what people are calling scripted Diary Room entries? Is Production coaching him on the kind of character they want him portrayed as on the televised show? I saw who won POV but I haven't looked to see if it was used or not. |

Fessy didn't use the POV; Swaggy and Bay are having sex; Sam confided to Tyler that she will NOT be going home. I didn't realize that her power has a "must use" clause. If she doesn't use it on herself during the first three evictions, whoever is evicted 4th is a rerun hamster. So now i hope she DOES get evicted so that that power is sued up. I didn't get the feeds, and reading the recaps is still too confusing with 16 in there so I still don't have a sense of any of them, especially the women. A feedster on the TVCH site made an ominous judgment though. "These people are the kind i go out of my way to avoid at work and when out socializing." :P Ominous because she usually is pretty supportive overall of the show and always has faves. I like Sam, and Robot Sam has been very amusing. JC is funny. Wonder if this ‘touching’ controversy will make it to tv. Several boring interchangeable bro dudes. I kinda like Tyler. Three very cute ladies - Angela, Hayleigh, Sam. Think the season will not be a classic or a total dud, but somewhere in between. New house decor and initial twisty stuff was cool. Outfit punishments in the first week - and harsh ones - was interesting. The trending/not trending component is okay. |

I cant wait for Robosam to be done so we can see what kind of player she really is. In the scheme of BB punishments this one rates right up there for worst ever in terms of the effect on her game. They maybe should have saved it for later in the game or shortened the duration. Swaggy is obnoxious like that all the time. I dont know how much is the DR and how much is him. He seems to have done what i wish more future hamsters would do, and watched lots of past seasons in sequester. He mimics alot of past hgs but he clearly isnt a superfan because he mimics the tv edits and really has no clue how to play the game. His downfall will be glorious. The bro dudes stupidity is still mildly endearing but neither impresses me at all. Kaitlyn is a trainwreck in slow motion. She annoys me most of the time but when she gets wound up its pure feeds gold. Tyler is good, really good. As long as he doesnt get too full of himself going forward he is still my pick to win. The JC touching/inappropriate comments by the girls will not make TV. They were all apparently reminded/admonished yesterday during the practice for the HOH comp that they needed to remember they are being recorded 24/7 and the things they say and do have consequences. Feeds were down so this is all based on comments by the hgs afterward along with this CBS statement “BIG BROTHER is a reality show about watching a group of people who have no privacy 24/7 — and capturing every unfiltered moment and conversation in their lives. At times, the houseguests reveal prejudices and exhibit behavior that we do not condone,” said the CBS statement. “The producers have addressed two such incidents that were seen recently on the 24/7 online feed. In both cases, those involved have been warned about their inappropriate behavior and offensive comments, as well as future consequences. These events will not be part of any future BIG BROTHER broadcast on CBS." JC does make me laugh...a lot. Hayleigh is Nicole in BB16. She'll get to jury. I'm definitely less into this season than some previous but I'm holding out hope that as the power shifts going forward things will kick up a bit. I dont find any of them particularly horrible but the cast is lacking something. |

What inappropriate comments did the girls make? EDIT - Never mind. Just saw... Kaitlyn’s goofiness makes her a fun ‘character’. Swaggy is a bit too much, but that’s also, you know, the show. |

Hamsterwatch is still saying nice things about Swaggy, so I wondered if maybe Production is saving his more annoying moments for the show. If Faysal didn't have to eat vegan ham would it have tasted better, or would they have just given him some kind of gross pickled ham? That was a fun POV comp but we didn't get to see any of Sam's tantrum. I figured that's how it would go since she seems to be an early fan favorite. There was some chatter about Sam's App Store Power not really being much of anything, because there will be a Battle Back of which she'd be a part of if she gets evicted....unless Production decides to send her back in without participating in a competition. |

But she wouldn’t need to be in the Battle Back if she uses her power on herself. It’s a good power. What tantrum did Sam have during the POV comp? JBR compared Hayleigh to Nicole, but I think Sam SOUNDS a bit like Nicole sometimes... |

I think jbrr mentioned it and I've read other comments about the HGs talking about Sam yelling at Production during the POV comp. But it's all hearsay if it's not shown on the televised version. The funny thing about Nicole's voice was how much it annoyed me her second season, and I didn't remember it bothering me her first season. Sam hits some of Nicole's high pitches but she not quite a nasally. It's nice to get an HOH comp where any random person can win. I was hoping Rachel would knock Kaitlyn out at the end but maybe we'll get a little drama out of this since Kaitlyn doesn't look committed to her alliance. Color me impressed with Julie calling out Steve for talking too much about be a cop. The casts may be more cookie cutter than in the past but Julie's interviews are much better than those bland questions she used to ask them. Earlier today I was remembering how we used to get long-lost relatives or a twin hiding in a secret room and it made me nostalgic. |

Swaggy is just that annoying. He is not on the same annoyance scale as a few past hamsters so he is still getting the benefit of the doubt from a lot of the fandom. His reaction to the vote was priceless. Watching him scramble is fun. Sams app power is still pretty vague even after Julies explanation tonight. Sad they didnt show any of her POV meltdown but I think they are going to give her the sweetheart edit so no surprise. She does sound a bit like Nic at times but Sam has more drawl where Nic has more whine. Julie has been emboldened the last few seasons. It is more fun. This season instead of fish/puppies/kittens during long blackouts we get episodes from past seasons its fun to actually see them again and realize how much BB has changed. Nostalgia for sure. Tensions are running high with the hamsters and much speculation and finger pointing trying to figure out what happened. Lots of snark and behind the back trash talk from both sides. This could be a really fun week. I have no idea what Kaitlyn will do at this point. |

Kaitlyn is kind of fascinating, still annoying, but fascinating. I really wanted her to go early but my mind is slowly changing. She makes for fun feeds. Winston and Scottie are on the block. Tyler won the veto. Plan is to take Scottie down and backdoor Swaggy. The whole house except for Swaggys group of 5 is in on the plan. They are clueless and are planning to turn on Kaitlyn ASAP. Should be fireworks after POV ceremony. Winston is growing ever more paranoid with each passing hour. Its funny and sad at the same time. Rachel got the crap app, no confirmation on who got the good one but possibly Tyler. |

I'm liking this cast more than I thought I would. They initially seemed too "cookie-cutter" picked to fit their BB role, but they are rising above their casting roles, which is nice to see. I like that they are having a lot of conversations about stuff other than the game. Overall they seem to be nicer, at heart, than some past casts - we shall see. Faves so far: Tyler, Sam, Kaitlyn, Bayleigh, Rachel (She won me over with her reaction to the crap app...) A lot of folks at TVCH are hoping to see Bay play without Swaggy. Me too. People are also saying that Sam is very deep cover, and seems to know the game way WAY better than she is letting on, even to BB itself. She may have fooled casting into thinking she's a naive noob when in reality she is a superfan. I'm only seeing the TV show and only skimmed a couple BBADs so I dunno. Swaggy is fun to watch, mostly because his reality is so confident and cocky, and it so does not fit actual reality. He thinks he's in a sweet spot and won't be nominated for a long time. :firemad: Janelle is a fan of his, so he may rebound. Any truth to the rumor that BaySwag have a huge fanbase determined to support them, ostensibly because as POC they have been treated poorly by BB and the rest? I haven't seen any hint of that, and the racism reported seems pretty tame compared to past Houses. ??? |

This cast does seem to be nicer at heart than many past casts. I still dont really find anyone particularly unlikable, annoying and obnoxious at times, but they are all likable and fun. Its still early though so theres time for them to become miserable still lol. I dont know what to make of Sam just yet. I like her and her personality. She claims to have only seen a few episodes that she had to watch in sequester and in her words she "didnt like the show". During a late night back and forth between Swaggy/Scottie about past seasons and favorite hgs she asked a ton of questions and seemed clueless, but she is a good actress. She did know enough to pander to Evil Dick and shoutout his podcast (after being told about it by S&S). The robot thing really stunted her BB game in the opening couple weeks so I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt to see if she finds her footing. I dont think shes a superfan but I do think she is good at reading people/situations. I'm also interested to see Bay without Swaggy, everyone generally likes her. I just worry she will burn all her good favor with the others if her reaction to the Swaggy bd gets too over the top. Watching Swaggys pontifications about the game and his place in it is very fun to watch. I havent seen a particularly large fanbase for Bay/Swag. There is always the commentary about POC and BB but I havent seen that anymore than in past seasons. Bay has mentioned it a few times in reference to not wanting them to end up like Day or Devin and go early. Rockstar has implied Kait is putting up Swag because he is black but shes the only one who has made it even the least bit racial inside the house. Feeds just returned Swag is on the block. We got no good aftermath on feeds. Swag/Fes/Bay/Scottie downstairs bitching to each other. Hay/Tyler/JC/Brett in HOH comforting Kait who is crying. |

Kaitlyn pretty much had to cry after putting Swaggy on the block, though, didn't she? I'm sure she's an old pro at playing the wounded bird when it suits her purposes. I am impressed that she went through with the plan, especially after all the times we've seen a good plan fall apart after someone got cold feet. I thought this was interesing...

Oh yeah Kait is very good at playing victim and turning on the waterworks. Everyone is kind of walking on eggshells and scrambling a bit. Swag thinks hes gonna get the votes to stay. As of now everyone is still going to vote him out. I think production might have something to say before Thurs though. I dont think they are ready to let go of the only showmance this season just yet. We'll see. Faysal has basically cozied up to all the girls at one point or another. It was also said that he tried with Angela and she shut him down too. He definitely came for a showmance. Hes still persistently trying with Hayleigh. |
