Starts 2/5/17, after the Super Bowl. #2 (of 12) airs the next night.

Looks exciting.

Didn't really take very long to get from 'no' to 'maybe'.

Missed seeing this on Saturday.. Cool. I did not think they'd stick to the 'all-new characters' thing. Tony Almeida is in.

Yeah. Did you?

I posted this the other day in the Watching thread >> Though I'm a little more favorable, I like Sepinwall's review of 24 saying '24's gotta 24'. It is very much the same show that it's always been (in both good and bad ways), but now without Jack and Chloe. It's not great, but it's not awful. It's not boring, but it's not highly engrossing, either, since it deploys all the same narrative twists and tropes that have become very familiar over 15 years and 9 seasons. I expect my interest to perk up considerably when Tony Almeida turns up.

The cast is fine. I like Otto, Bucatinsky, Smits, McRaney...

Hot Terrorist Girl (whoa, I didn't immediately recognize Kathryn Prescott from Skins and Finding Carter, but I should have...) manipulating Pervert Teacher is funny.

Eric dropping his wife off with his dealer brother (also her ex) for protection is funny... and then he needs cash in a hurry, so let's rob a police station... Meanwhile, Rebecca (an ex-CTU head) is tasering the current guy and trying to find out who is The Mole...

It's 24. I like 24.

And yet as much terrorism as there is in this fictional universe, our current reality is MORE frightening... I'd feel safer under another Charles Logan presidency, you know?

Half over now..

Jack's seasons killed off 19 of its 47 main cast members.

12 regulars here, and the first one to buy it was Ben, in #5 last week..

The dying button press on the bridge sucked. Good tense sequence, though.

Carlos Bernard (credited under 'Special Guest Star') was in 115 of the 205 episodes of the original series (Seasons 1-5 and 7); Tony Almeida was the third most-seen person after Jack and Chloe. He died a couple times, but got better. He was a bad guy in his last season, mostly.

A short film on the Live Another Day blu-ray release showed Tony in prison and that there were shadowy figures plotting his escape.

Tony was briefly involved with Rebecca sometime after Michelle's death.

Yay, enhanced interrogation techniques...

Three of twelve regulars died, or new series total 22 of 59. Tony in episodes 7-12, but had very little screen time in a couple of those.

Opening fight in the finale between Eric and Tony was pretty cool, and the Smits/McRaney scene was good, but... kinda just 'eh'.

I finally started watching and made it to hour 4, it's okay...but not enough to make me want to have to see it. I'll finish it now that I started it, but I have to say it's not the same.

If they do more, I'll probably be 'completist' enough that I have to watch. They don't NEED to do more, though (unless, you know, they get Kiefer back, but Designated Survivor isn't going to be a one-and-done, so...).

This wasn't 'bad'. But it wasn't 'good', either. Just kinda going through the motions...

I like Jimmy Smits and he has helped make it interesting. I'm hoping seeing Tony again helps too... I just miss Jack...and there is and will always be just one Jack Bauer. I know he's getting too old to do that and I really like Designated Survivor, it's one of my favorites right now.

I am not crazy about either show. I find myself shopping on amazon with both of them.
