I'm really sorry to be missing this. Any 'follow-up' venues now or in the future, like at Amazon Prime?

Unlikely, but HBO Now is probably worth it... Are you really not going to watch GoT this season because you dropped HBO?

It's a tough call. I might see what kind of deal is offered. Been so long since I ever only had the deluxe all-everything pkg. Can you order for three months, that sort of thing? or do they lock you in for two years on the strength of something like GoT.

Off to investigate.

Well I can get a 6 mo contract for 9.99 thru verizon...

or HBO Now for a month free, the 14.99 until the GoT season is over... except that's on the computer, need to see if I can access it via verizon or must mirror the laptop on the TV in that case... Or...save the $$$ and buy the CDs when they finally come out.

So I'm frustrated... Bought the all-in-one Complete Series blu-ray set of Treme last week, and it arrived with the sleeve for the bonus disc empty (which I NEED... has complete performances of 15 or more songs that were shortened in the shows, amongst other goodies they left off the prior individual season releases)... I purchased through Amazon (which I know will refund if need be), but put in an email to HBO's store customer service first, who sent back a generic 'call us between these hours'...

Hoping it's an accidental 'oops' and not an 'oh, that was only available for a limited time'... Shouldn't be. Grr.

I was just flipping thru Treme on Amazon prime... Given the nature of the show and music they had BETTER make that right!

http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/how-vinyl-took-2-boardwalk-empire-guys-back-to-the-70s-with-jagger-scorsese

>> And it was Timmy asking me, "How do you feel about choking yourself while masturbating?" I remember being like, "In general?"

Ha.

I have always liked Cannavale...

July 1973 starting point. I am eight months old.

Really excited for seems-to-be-such-a-great-guy Max Casella... good interview from a couple months ago - http://www.avclub.com/article/max-casella-boardwalk-empire-doogie-howser-and-hor-228426 After small-but-fun roles on Sopranos and Boardwalk, he's finally a regular here...

Alan >> Was the pilot meant to be two hours or that's just what the cut came in at?

Terence Winter: It was long. I think the final shooting script was 70-something pages. When Marty started cutting it, he goes, "I'm getting into the scenes and when the New York Dolls were performing a song, I don't want to cut it away. I'm just letting it go. As long as I'm in it, I'm in it, and I'm letting it run." I finally said, " How long is this thing?" He said, "It's close to two hours," and it's like a full-blown Martin Scorsese film.

Bobby Cannavale: But he always called it the movie. He always would say, "The movie."

Winter: Well, when we first started talking about TV, literally the first conversation about Boardwalk Empire, he really needed to have it explained, like, what's the difference between a series and a miniseries, and was really not interested in TV at all. So I said, "It ongoing series, of course, it could go on for seasons and we did 86 episodes of The Sopranos, for example. There's the pilot, and then you continue. And with Boardwalk, you would do the pilot." So he goes, "So there's the movie and then there's everything that happens after the movie." "Exactly." He goes, "Yeah, it's like you come to the movie and then you get to go back the next day to see what happens to the people in the movie." I was like, "That is exactly it right. Yes. That is exactly true."

I love that Winter needed to explain the concept of television series to Scorsese.

Excited for Sunday.

And the second season premiere of Better Call Saul on the next night (and Lauren Ambrose guesting on X-Files #5) - Happy Dax.

I keep forgetting that I'm older than you, Dax.

Bobby Cannavale made an impression on me in The Station Agent. I don't remember anything about the movie but I remember making a mental note of Cannavale and Peter Dinklage.

Hoping I like this. It will be nice to have something other than TWD to watch on a Sunday night.

I think I knew that you were, but... By how much, I don't recall... How old are you?

Oh, I loved The Station Agent very much.. (Women were good, too.. Michelle Williams and Patricia Clarkson..)

I keep forgetting that TWD is also back on Sunday...

A 'B' from Sepinwall... expected it to have been higher... http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/review-hbos-vinyl-a-classic-rock-drama-that-wishes-it-was-punk

In July of 1973, I completed my second trip around the Sun. You're good with numbers.....

Gosh, I was hoping to enjoy this show more than I did. I really wanted an alternative to TWD. Just seemed like a bunch of assholes blowing lines of coke and screaming at each other. Plus, I'm not a fan of most of the music that was featured.

I did like Jamie Vine but that was probably because she reminded me of Peggy Olsen.

The previews for the season didn't leave me hopeful. Oh well.

I liked it, and more of the music than I didn't. I wasn't disappointed.

It IS a lot of assholes yelling at each other and doing coke, but I was entertained.

Romano was very funny to me.

Sørensen was the Wildling Mom that made a big impression in 'Hardhome'.

Essandoh has a great voice.

Bobby Cannavale -- Richie Finestra
Paul Ben-Victor -- Maury Gold
P.J. Byrne -- Scott Levitt
Max Casella -- Julian 'Julie' Silver
Ato Essandoh -- Lester Grimes
James Jagger -- Kip Stevens
J.C. Mackenzie -- Skip Fontaine
Jack Quaid -- Clark Morelle
Ray Romano -- Zak Yankovich
Brigitte Hjort Sørensen -- Ingrid
Juno Temple -- Jamie Vine
Olivia Wilde -- Devon Finestra

Did you ever get a Roku or SmartTV? If so you can watch HBO Now on your Roku. Or you can get a Roku VERY cheap and then get HBO Now as you need it.

I figure all the premium stuff we have is a necessity. I'd give up wine before I give up HBO. :P
