Okay I finished the episode. I still don't like it much. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has way too much hair. Have to say I like it on a guy's head but when they look like a woolly mammoth on the rest of them I'd rather have a guy with thinner hair and not so much body hair. |

I was just thinking about guys I had seen shirtless on television the past week. There's Josh Holloway who I thought it looks really yummy and Morgan who I thought needed a serious hair removal. I also sort of get tired of Alicia being such a sexpot, maybe in earlier seasons. Maybe that's why she got rid of Kalinda because she got insecure about having to compete with somebody. In the meantime Lucca could be really sexy but they dress her like a 50s housewife and the haircut is really not flattering either |

Krystal it did NOT get much better. >>>>>Whatever the 2012/Lock thing is about, it doesn't seem to be bringing back a story thread from years ago. I am now worried this is going to end badly or boringly go out with a wimper. I just can't see how they can pull anything meaningful based on the material from the 2nd part of this season. Maybe they will surprise me but I am not hopeful. |

Husband now refuses to finish off the show. I sort of watched Sunday night's episode while I was doing some stuff around the house today. Almost gagged. Had to run over for the remote to fast forward all the romantic scenes. JM must think she's some kind of sex goddess. Ugh.liking Morgan less and less as well. The attorney with a dog is frankly stupid and then moving Lucca up overnight is unbelievable too |

I liked this one. Yeah, Elsbeth's ex-husband is a poor substitute for her (I'm assuming this stuff was originally for her, and Preston wasn't available). I've edited where you've a few times misnamed the actor playing Jason. I think you're confusing Harry Dean Stanton with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Very different guys. Cary knows Alicia lied to him, of course. I get her enthusiasm over the bond with Lucca, and I know she's sometimes been aligned with Diane, but... I think I'd prefer Alicia not being up for screwing over Cary. |

I've decided I dislike Alicia. A lot. The only really powerful ending I see now is for her to admit that she's become an even worse jerk than her husband. That to be "The Good Wife" cost her her humanity. Maybe that will happen. She will have an epiphany, and make some drastic change. But at this point I can't see what she could do to demonstrate a real change. Of course, maybe the Kings' final theme is that "The System" forces one to become a shallow, nasty, amoral cog. I agree with Krystal, I think JM has an inflated sense of herself and has manipulated the storylines and character and either the Kings like it or can't find a way to rein her in. Bleah. I'm okay with Luca moving up quickly because I do see that kind of favoritism "who you know" as a reality. They've just downplayed Alicia's power (both thru her own rep and her coattail riding of the Guv) in order to make her seem sympathetic and seem like she has suuuuch a haaard life...but that's the whole reason LAL brought her back. So I think the writers/The Kings miscalculated and Luca's promotion shows them trying to have their cake (Alicia is POWERFUL) and eat it too (Alicia has soooo many unfair situations to deal with). I believed that - for a day - Eli could hear the grand jury (maybe because of the workers opening a duct?) but that no one has noticed that glitch over many days? And yes, Elsbeth's ex is a failed character. He takes me out of every scene he's in. Ugh. |

I've always liked JM as an actress. But the thing with Panjabi was clearly her doing. MAYBE she had a solid reason behind it, but... Really can't imagine what that would be. |

I used to like her but it seems I have grown to be Last of Us and as time went on. Then the dust up with Punjabi really made me think a whole lot less of her as a human being. I only hung on with the show as long as I have because of the supporting cast including Diane Eli and some of the wacky old lawyers. Luca is not really growing on me I don't mind her but I don't love her either. Dax, thanks for correcting Morgan name on my post. I don't like him much either but I'm not sure it isn't the character and not so much the actor. In any case he's sort of that too much or testosterone kind of guy that I don't care for. But really I have not like any of Alicia's love interest other than maybe Quinn or whatever his name was |

Man, the folks at PTV are just HATING on the show. In one 22 post thread (so far) they've brought up so many things they dislike you couldn't even count. The only thing almost everyone agrees they like is Cary getting the hell out of A couple of good lines: Though, seriously, if the next scene shows him on a beach somewhere with Kalinda that would be awesome. Several posters liked that idea. LOL - Love JDM, and I am cool with old-people-sex. I do think JM is attractive and I do think JDM is sexy, hair and tats included (I dated bikers... :P ) But there IS something weird in the way this relationship is written, like Alicia is some kind of arrested development case, which is a legitimate observation many are making.... Someone suggested that the endgame will be Alicia in prison, as a compromise by the Guv's office to save Peter, who will NOT be "The Good Husband." I can see that, but boy we should be sooooo past this whole mess, imo. If they spend much more time with the political crap it will be a huge letdown for me. It's never been believable to me that phone taps are this omnipresent. Not with the easy way criminals avoid it in most every other cop show (and what I actually know about the issue IRL). And even if taps ARE the norm, the targets would know, and take steps. And now the NSA is tapping too? It's lazy writing by the Kings to provide drama. Bleah. One endgame I'd like is that Cary inspires Alicia to leave LAL behind too...but they burned that plot TWICE now with Cary and then with Luca. Maybe once she's a partner Alicia convinces Cary to turn the tables on Diane and David Lee? The one thing she has NOT done is taken over LG (the original incarnation). And there's that hidden 2 mill dangling plot still in play. Maybe David's plan is to bump Howard to name partner, and that wily fox then approaches Alicia with the 2 mil info, and she leverages that info, with Cary forming an unlikely Florrick, Agos, and Lyman? I don't really think there is a satisfying conclusion at this point. The only interesting thing to me will be to read all the mocking of the "final King vision." I'll be amazed if something good/powerful/meaningful/fitting/whatever is pulled out of the hat. I'm envisioning "Lost" level post series finale griping. :D I do want to mention one thing I thought of while watching this episode. Usually I am a believer that the writing is the key to the characters, that it's rare for actors to be able to transcend bad writing. It's wonderful if it happens, but the actors need (and deserve) good writing. And of course good actors raise the level of good writing. In the scene with Cary and Alicia, when he tells her he's quitting, I realized the Kings have benefited more from the actors than the actors benefited from the writing, overall. It wasn't obvious because for many arcs, and much of the time, and for many individual episodes and scenes, the show's writing WAS good. But in this scene, it was clear to me that JM and MC really made that unspoken connection between these two characters very powerful. There was much more in the scene than was on the page. It would be nice to be surprised with a strong conclusion. |

I turned the television on last night and the show was being taped so here are the first few minutes with Alicia in bed and I could have just projectile vomited. Not that she's repulsive or him either or that they are older none of that it's just I'm sick of this storyline yes she supposed to be in middle age sexy woman but they just keep pounding it into our heads or on to the show until I am just nauseous about it. It's like she's going through some kind of midlife crisis or something. It would have been fine for her to have a romance but they just seem to be shoving it down your throat. Then I was switching channels again after it was over and again there they were in bed again. My husband who really usually like sex scenes just cannot see this woman has any sex object and in any case he's sick of it too. I will watch some time this week in fast forward a lot even if I can stomach it. I can't figure out what kind of conclusion that I'd actually be happy with. KMI considering where I was raised I dated some bikers as well in some fairly rough guys even in dental school because they were at steelworkers. So it's not that he is a big hairy macho guy that turns me off. I guess it's just having this Romance so forced and being such a big deal on the show now. I don't know but it's too much of the show and there's too little of other things that I care about. |

Keep in mind that I didn't start watching until waaaaaaay late into the series. I'm not all: Peter cheated! and did her wrong! as Alicia certainly has had her share of affairs as well, although apparently, Peter was first and most frequent and most importantly, was caught in a very public way. Alicia/ the show's title and premise is The Good Wife. And now, as time has progressed, we are seeing Alicia as not being so 'good' as in sexually faithful/relegated to being supportive wife and mother plus perfect lawyer/law partner. The question is: can someone be 'good' and still be: sexual in a big way? be not faithful in terms of sexual fidelity? be a real, flawed human? Can that someone still be a 'good wife?' My take is that Alicia is becoming more ' flawed' and more 'like Peter' and more willing to admit her own needs-career/personal/sexual than she was when she was relegated to being simple a role: 'the good wife' and presumable 'the good mother' although her role as good mother is not being seriously questioned here. I think in the end, this is still the end game: Alicia and Peter together again. Frankly, I don't understand how the show has been about Alicia being a good wife and standing by her man, if only on ceremonial occasions all of these years. It's a premise that still makes me a bit sick. I don't think that Alicia and/or Jason are too old to have a vigorous sex life or to have that sex life depicted on screen but I don't need to see anybody's sex life actually depicted or shown on screen to realize that these two people are having sex and enjoying it. I am wondering if Alicia's little fun in the restaurant/bar/whatever a couple of weeks ago will come back and bite her as it becomes public. Mostly, I have genuinely missed Diane this season. A lot. A lot a lot. Also the whole thing with defending/protecting the drug dealer/Cary goes to jail and oops! he's out again and now Kalinda has to disappear was genuine shark jumping. |

I think a woman is entitled to have as many male Partners as a guy is to have female partners. Or if either one is homosexual they can have as many partners 2. But this show was supposed to be about a good wife and Law Firm and all of a sudden it's become about Alicia's middle-aged sex life. Believe me I'm not a prude but I want some content to the show and not everybody in bed. I left How To Get Away with Murder because the show deteriorated into everybody having affairs with everyone else. Initially I thought it was a really good show and then it just turned into some kind of massive sex exchange. That being said I think I'm also angry at JM for ditching the Kalinda character and I believe that was mostly because she was intimidated by Kalinda's sexuality. Kalinda was far more sensual than JM because she seemed to appeal to both men and women and there was sort of an exotic undertone about her. I do not find anything about JM sexy. But obviously she has a part to play in this development of this show and she has to portray herself in this fashion. I find that really disgusting of her as a person. I am not offended by older people having sex in fact I hope to be having it until I'm ninety :-). But if I want to have a show be about sex and watch a sex show. I have quit reading many books which are supposed to be horror books are mystery books because they ended up dwelling on some relationship between a man and woman that I didn't give a crap about especially reading page after page details about there fondling each other or whatever. So I like action shows to be action or horror shows to the horror and I don't particularly need any romance in them. I am also very annoyed by these phony marriages where somebody just stands next to the partner. Why not get s goddamn divorce? Why would we insist that our political leaders have to be married an unhappy or have a phony marriage rather than just be single? |

I haven't seen last night's yet. I haven't had a major problem with the Alicia/Jason love affair, except that maybe the flirtation was too 'slow burn' for awhile, and now that the fire is lit, there's a lot of emphasis on it now that there's so little time left. As Peter and Alicia's marriage has been redefined by them, Alicia isn't 'cheating'. Sure, it's an unconventional marriage and the right/wrong of such a thing is up to the individual, but Alicia doesn't see herself as 'cheating', and Peter might not care for it or feel a twinge of jealousy or whatever, but he wouldn't see it as 'cheating', either. They have agreed to an open marriage, or a for-show political one. >> I don't understand how the show has been about Alicia being a good wife and standing by her man That's not been the premise of this show (I know you didn't start from the beginning). It's been about her going to work and starting over AFTER (Peter's scandal). The title has always been more about what she WAS or who she was SUPPOSED to be, and not who she 'is', if that makes any sense. She plays the 'part' of 'the good wife' for the cameras/constituents, but that's not her real life. Alicia's role as a mother hasn't been questioned so much, but since we haven't seen a lot of Zach & Grace lately, I hope there's enough of them in the time remaining to quasi-address her rant a few episodes ago about 'I don't even know if I like them' because (while in the middle of a breakdown) I thought that was really, really sad that she said such a thing... I'm not sure what ending I'm hoping for. Cary's bailing out before he can be kicked out? I like that. Season 6 had a lot of problems, but I wouldn't say 'jumped the shark' because I'll only use that term for a show that NEVER recovers from a bad arc/season ('once ____ happened, it was all over') and I think 7 has been a great deal better. It's not as good as it was in the first five seasons, but it's a long way from being 'a bad show', too, I think. They have begun-and-middled a lot of stories better than they have ended them. There have been a lot of court cases that were oops-we're-out-of-time resolved poorly or inadequately (that might not have been if they had had another 10-15 minutes of time). The fear is that 'the long arc' might feel similarly rushed. The Margulies/Panjabi thing (whatever it was) damaged the show. Even at its worst (last season), this has been one of the best major network shows of the last ten years. I'll miss it (and kinda sorta hope for a spin-off), but I'm also good with it ending here (rather than head-written by people other than the Kings). Seven years is a good run. - >> all of a sudden it's become about Alicia's middle-aged sex life. I don't agree. She's been alone/lonely for long enough... it's not a terrible thing to see her in a new relationship. >> believe that was mostly because she was intimidated by Kalinda's sexuality. I don't see that. >> Kalinda was far more sensual than JM because she seemed to appeal to both men and women and there was sort of an exotic undertone about her. Well, yeah... Kalinda being bisexual AND a superhero-of-sorts is going to give her a lot of sex appeal... >> she has a part to play in this development of this show and she has to portray herself in this fashion. I find that really disgusting of her as a person. 'Make sure everybody thinks I'm sexy' shouldn't be laid at JM's feet. I don't get that vibe at all (though I am predisposed to think of her negatively after Kalinda-gate). |

I don't give a rat's ass about the supposed grudge between JM and AP. If JM drove AP away, then shame on both of them and the show but I am not so naive to believe that we know what happened in any way. Alicia's kids are grown and becoming more independent: she's not sure she knows or likes them anymore, which is about right. So it is time for Alicia to re-set her priorities and re-discover herself, as trite as that sounds--and is. But: Alicia isn't very interesting. Or genuine. She's all about middle class suppression in a fairly ordinary way. Diane is interesting. Kalinda was interesting--so long as she was only on the show in a limited way. Probably Diane as well. Peter is the most interesting man on the show and how often do we see him? Exactly..Marissa is more interesting than anyone else and we see her very little. Which is why we find her interesting. |

JM didn't drive AP away, but she did refuse to work with her from 4.15 to the end of Season 6. I like Marissa, too. I think several of the men are interesting - Cary, Eli, Jason, David Lee, Louis Canning... Cary had better not marry my Rory (on Gilmore Girls). Jason has an assault charge in his past... sure hope the series doesn't end with him bashing somebody in the head with a big baseball bat wrapped in spikes... |

The show should not have tolerated that sort of behavior. Period. Re: parents/kids. There just comes a time when kids are mostly grown and sometimes it's just not pretty for a year or two --or five or ten. I like my kids. Sometimes want to wring a neck or shake some sense into them but-- they are actually all good people. Nor perfect. Not necessarily doing what *I* would pick out for them but that's ok. I raised people not robots. But I totally got what Alicia was saying--and it really is the -*right* time to have that moment. |

In this vein of staying with a person who cheats on you there is like massive number of divorces that I have heard of articulate out here and the reason seems to be cheating spouses. I talked to a number of people at my gym and my husband does as well although I think the women are more forthright about things and sometimes of woman who you know only casually but see on a regular basis like at the gym or in some class will tell you things that you wouldn't expect except from a close friend. In any case what seems to go on is somebody is cheating and it's usually the guy however not always. The women here are for the most part very fit and our Gym Rats and they keep themselves looking very sexy and hot but in the meantime their husbands are complaining that they don't want sex at least with their husbands. So the husbands go and have an affair almost always with a younger woman and then bam there's a divorce. I see this mostly happening to people in their fifties and I don't know if it's some sort of midlife crisis or the fact that the children are now grown and in college or even out of college and the parents feel they don't need to be there for the children so much anymore. One woman that I do know fairly well who confides in me told me that she hadn't had sex with her husband in 10 years because he cheated on her. I asked her why she didn't either get a divorce or forgive him because it doesn't make sense to live with a person who you are angry with. Of course she enjoyed spending his money and he has a lot of it. Finally he got fed up and left her and is currently seeing a younger woman. He is a pretty good friend of my husband so he has told my husband things like that his soon-to-be ex-wife never did like sex much and he doesn't know why he put up with her for as long as he did. In my opinion this woman has no value whatsoever because she didn't work, had no children in fact refuse to have children because it would ruin her body. She also spends 100% of the time on her appearance and will not do even anything remotely messy nor will she volunteer to even do something not messy to any organization because she doesn't like to be around poor people. This is her description not mine. |

Anyhow pooor or sex life for cheating spouses seems to be consistent out here. Just an observation that sort of goes along with what we were talking about with the show. |

And yet....he married her. For some set of reasons. And didn't divorce her until he found the right newer model. There is a reason, too, why #1 viewed herself as having only ornamental value. Of course she should have gone beyond that out of her own self respect. But who knows how she grew up. I've seen some things that make me just shake my head. If money was all that he was willing to provide and she felt only valued for her beauty or 'beauty,' I can see why she made the choices she did, no matter how much I disagree with them. I think that people have their own versions of The Truth and that it rarely involves acknowledging anything they did themselves to contribute to any situation. Saw/lived that re: my own parents. My father's widow still believes everything from my dad's perspective, and some of it is simply not likely to be accurate. For example: he told her that he and my mother hadn't had sex in 10 years before he divorced her (which was a few years after her stroke at age 42).. Of course he would know that more than I would but I know as an absolute fact that my mother was on birth control pills from after my youngest sister was born until after the divorce. She kept them on top of the fridge. Which is weird. The reason it stuck so hard with me is that it was the only form of birth control I knew about until I was well old enough to know much more about birth control than I did. Also, the bedroom I shared with my sister was across the hall from my parents' room in a very small ranch house. Looking back as an adult, I am pretty certain that sounds I heard indicated the marriage was not as completely celibate as my father let on. It became obvious at a certain point that my father had little affection or respect for my mother (before the stroke) but I definitely remember times within those 10 years when it really stretches credulity to think that theirs was a sexless marriage. Times when they were openly affectionate with one another, times that hinted at more to the extent that parents might without going overboard in front of the K I D S. They shared a bed up until he left for his much younger 2nd wife. Probably no sex after the stroke, although the doctor kept my mother on birth control pills for some time (don't ask. He was an idiot.) Aside from that, because of the stroke and because of how much we took part in helping with the recovery, we daughters did learn things that most daughters might not learn about their parents at that particular age. Or ever. It was very apparent--before and after the stroke--that my mother was very much in love with my father. Keep in mind as I write this that I was much closer to my father than my mother. Much closer. I didn't like my mother much and she didn't like me, either. But my father was grossly unfair to her long before the stroke and long before the divorce. |

He did not leave her for another woman in fact he was going out with us by himself for a while after he had left her. He only recently met this other woman. He left her because she wasn't happy with their 8000 square foot house and wanted to buy a 12000 square foot house for the two of them. He didn't want to have the money spent on that, |

They both separately told us that they were not having sex for at least 10 years. He had told my husband on a hiking trip and she had told me someday when we were alone. That was several years ago and I told her that was asking for trouble and that she should go for counseling. Why did he marry her I have no idea. He is an inventor and an engineer she has nothing but a high school education. That was 25 years ago and they certainly had Grown Apart. The other thing was she is angry at me because I won't get all dressed up and go to expensive restaurants with her for lunch. That mean spending half the day driving somewhere getting all dressed up in spending 70 or $80 for a glass of champagne some overpriced small bit of food. I offered to introduce her to some other women and then she said she didn't want to meet other women that she really just wanted to go out with men. But only if they were attractive and has a lot of money and were willing to spend it on her. |

Yeah, that's just sad all around. She sounds like a lousy person, but I feel sorry for her. How empty her life must be. And what the hell happened to her to make her that way..... |

I liked #18. Good Peter/Jason, Peter/Alicia, and Alicia/Cary stuff. No show, next two Sundays. Four left. |

I just caught up with the last two shows but between the fast-forwarding and the other things I was doing I can't say I really paid them full attention. I am really sick of Alicia and her romances. There doesn't seem to be all that much going on other than that so it seems like the show is just shoving her down our throats for the last part of the series. The party was sort of entertaining I don't know why she lets her mother show up when she knows she's going to get drunk and embarrass everybody. So Zach is going off to France with this girl. And this storyline seems absurd unless this young woman has a thing for lost puppies or such and wants to bring him along like a pet gerbil or something. Diane and her husband make absolutely no sense at all together. Especially after him almost wanting to sell his business at a great loss to that bimbo. If he has such a lusting after bimbos why in God's name would he stay with Diane. The Peter business is pretty contrived I really don't care what happens to him. I will be curious to see how it ends but I really don't care about any of the characters anymore. |
