Starts tomorrow.

New credits sequence on-line now - much better than last year's. I like the song.

Justin Theroux -- Kevin Garvey
Amy Brenneman -- Laurie Garvey
Christopher Eccleston -- Matt Jamison
Margaret Qualley -- Jill Garvey
Chris Zylka -- Tom Garvey
Carrie Coon -- Nora Durst
Liv Tyler -- Meg Abbott
Ann Dowd -- Patti Levin
Janel Moloney -- Mary Jamison
Regina King -- Erika Murphy
Kevin Carroll -- John Murphy
Jovan Adepo -- Michael Murphy

Out from 1's Main Cast - Aimee, Lucy, Dean, Adam, Scott, Christine
Promoted up from Recurring - Moloney as Mary.
New - The Murphy family.

The billing sequence switched a little - was Meg/Tom/Jill/Nora in slots 4/5/6/7 last time, but now it's Jill/Tom/Nora/Meg...
I like that Ann Dowd is still a regular.

I thought the visuals for the credit sequence were lame last season but I did like the music better than this new song. Surprised to see Amy Brenneman on your cast list, as I have not noticed her in any of the previews for the new season.

WTF was up with that opening scene? I paused the show and looked up Sepinwall's review to see if I wanted to continue watching the episode.

Actually enjoyed the rest of the episode. The Murphy family was interesting. I liked the ending. Poor Darius McCrary.

Nora didn't admit that Matt helped them get the home (maybe she's hiding something?), so I found it odd that Kevin and company showed up there for seemingly no good reason.

I didn't expect Mary to still be alive.

Yeah that was up there on the f**** up scale. I didn't know what to make of that.

Interesting 'reboot' in a way. Murphy family was interesting and now I want to know more.

After reading the recap for the episode at Vulture, I found this where they talk about that bizarre opening scene....

Interesting. So hopefully we will be able to figure out what the opening scene meant. Cool.

Haven't read that yet - or this, http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/the-leftovers-co-creator-explains-crazy-season-2-opening-perfect-strangers-gag from Sepinwall (bits of the Damon interview we shouldn't have seen until after watching the premiere), but I didn't think the opening scenes were THAT oblique... It's background info for Jarden. We see the tremors for the first time, a couple tragedies, and a couple of 'miraculous' saves from near-death. Made enough sense to me.

I thought it was a really interesting and bold choice to keep us from seeing anybody we knew until 40 or so minutes in.

Seemed John was very cruel to Isaac... Even if Isaac IS a fraud (looks like his reading was pretty on point, though), burning down his house like that... Not very nice.

I wanna know more about the lady in the wedding dress watering her lawn...

Edit, after reading the Vulture - I like that. 'Except this time, the baby makes it.'
- after reading Sepinwall's review - I didn't notice that the rescuer looks like Nora, but that makes sense, given Nora's recent 'adoption' via baby-on-the-doorstep...

Yeah that was interesting. Maybe husband or fiancee was AWAY during the event and he is now gone.

I also was wondering if baby had connection to Nora's new 'adopted' baby.

Discussed 1-4 some in the HBO thread, and Krystal asked if anybody was watching in the Watching...

Just a reminder... This does have its own thread...

#5... Poor Matt. His life is not fun.

I think it was number four that I just watched about the preacher and his wife. I still don't quite get why people think that the town of miracle will protect them. Even if no one was taken from it initially who's to say they wouldn't be taken in the future. And who's to say then another disappearance will happen at all.
In any case anyone who would stop to help someone on the road knowing that so many people want to get in would have to have their head examined.

I don't recall the wife much at all or when she went comatose and I certainly don't recall her waking up. Did we actually see this? If so I forgot it.

That one was 2.5. Newest, 6, is really good - spotlights Nora and Erika.

We saw a flashback of Mary's accident last season in the one that was all about Matt (and heard-but-didn't-see-it in the very first scene of the show... while we were seeing the woman look for her baby in the seconds after The Departure, there was a car crash...).

We didn't see Mary wake up. It's preferable to think Matt's telling the truth about it, of course... I don't have any doubts that HE believes it, but... We didn't see it, so...

I thought it was a little ridiculous. But I know Matt is supposed to be a good guy who wants to help people. I had to tell myself there was a little voice in his head that told him not to stop, but he was so excited over Mary being pregnant that he chose not to listen.

Just saw Season 2 Episode 4. The music was fantastic and creepy. I loved the way they brought those old songs back and changed them. So far I'm enjoying this season a lot but it's a super depressing show so I'm not marathoning them.

Funny I like the music as well and I usually don't pay that much attention. But it does kind of add to the creepiness of the show. I know my husband won't watch more than one week although I probably would.

I watched episode 5 & 6 today. This show stays with me after I watch it. I like this season a lot more than last season.

So what do you guys think happened to the girls?

It does cast a spell, puts you in an interesting mood after...

I think the girls staged a Departure. They're fine. They ran away...

Had to watch 7 & 8 of Affair, Homeland, and Leftovers this weekend to get caught up (though not for long, with 9 on tonight...) All good.

I'm not really worried about it, but I would be totally crushed if HBO didn't renew Leftovers...

My interest has waned. I see people praising it but I'm not seeing what they're seeing. I didn't finish the episode (7, I think) in which Patti and Kevin were screaming and yelling at each other. Didn't watch last week's episode.

I like it a lot, but my husband doesn't. So I think I'll watch the last couple by myself. The characters are pretty screwed up but I like the cast especially the women. I think it's very thought provoking, in this pretty depressing sometimes too.

If people disappeared like that I would definitely think sort of alien intervention. Certainly not something religious or something that we did to cause it as human beings.

I really love this show and will be majorly bummed if there isn't more.

Focus structure... after spotlights for Matt (1.3) and Nora (1.6) and a pre-Departure flashback (1.9) last year, they decided to do all-POV this year (except for, necessarily, the finale).

1 - Prologue; meeting the Murphys
2 - the Garveys moving to Jarden
3 - Laurie & Tommy
4 - Kevin & John
5 - Matt & Mary
6 - Nora & Erika
7 - Kevin and his Patti problem
8 - Kevin and Patti in the hotel
9 - Meg & Tommy

--

Writers so far
-
Damon Lindelof credited co-author on all episodes except 1.8, which was credited to Curtis Gwinn and Carlito Rodriguez.

Jacqueline Hoyt -- 1.3, 1.7; 2.1, 2.5
Elizabeth Peterson -- 1.4
Patrick Somerville -- 2.3, 2.7
Tom Spezialy -- 2.4
Nick Cuse (Carlton's son) -- 2.8
Monica Beletsky -- 2.9

Directors so far
-
Peter Berg -- 1.1, 1.2
Keith Gordon -- 1.3; 2.9

They're talking with HBO before the holidays... Should know something hopefully not too long after that...

Ratings are terrible, but HBO can care less about that than almost anybody...

I think they may squeak by one more time...

Fans dressed as the GR and held up picket not-signs-but-tablets-of-paper-saying 'Renew' at HBO offices... Fun. http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/leftovers-season-3-fans-campaign-costume-hbo-1201655760/
