Premiere is October 3rd. Miley Cyrus hosts for her third time. 10/10 - Amy Schumer hosts for the first time. (10/11 is the 40th anniversary, 789 episodes will have aired) 10/17 - Tracy Morgan hosts for the second time, and makes his first performance since his near-death in June 2014. Kate McKinnon first played Hillary on 10/5/13, at the start of her third season. She's made four appearances so far, but there will soon be many more... Seven cast members and two guest hosts have portrayed Hillary Clinton on SNL. Who -- How Many Times -- When Jan Hooks -- 7 -- 1992-1994 Janeane Garofalo -- 1 -- 1994 Ana Gasteyer -- 16 -- 1997-2002 Amy Poehler -- 17 -- 2003-2012 Drew Barrymore -- 1 -- 2004 Rachel Dratch -- 1 -- 2006 (with Amy, sci-fi clone thing) Vanessa Bayer -- 4 -- 2010-2014 Miley Cyrus -- 1 -- 2013 Kate McKinnon -- 4 so far -- 2013-on Three cast members have played Donald Trump. Phil Hartman -- 5 -- 1988-1990 Darrell Hammond -- 18 -- 1999-2011 Jason Sudeikis -- 1 -- 2012 Word is that Lorne is auditioning Trumps now, but I am REALLY hoping Darrell re-assumes the role, just as he did Bill Clinton twice last year. Nobody else would be funnier. Several of the old bits (Seth Meyers off camera directing Trump in the taping of promos) are true classics. "Dominios, like the game"... |

http://deadline.com/2015/09/taran-killam-donald-trump-saturday-night-live-nbc-1201537233/ Would much rather it had been Darrell, but I do like Killam - I'm sure he'll be fine. (Yes, Darrell continuing to be Bill is good, but when we've had Dana doing both Bush and Perot in the same cycle... And Tina being forced back for Sarah Palin even when she had her own show to star in and run...) - http://www.ew.com/article/2015/09/21/snl-writers-mike-obrien |

http://splitsider.com/2015/10/colin-jost-is-no-longer-a-head-writer-at-snl/ Loved Larry David as Bernie. Glad Tracy seems to be doing well. Fun to see the 30 Rockers with him... |

Yeah fun Larry David doing the 'Bernie'. He nailed it. Also great to see the 30 Rock cast together again. So the Donald will be on soon. I guess we will need to hear him say how great he is a million times. The man totally disgusts me but it would be funny if he lets them make fun of him while he's hosting. I guess we will see. |

Star Wars toy ad was great, and it was fun to see Will's W comment on the circus... Odd that Hemsworth would get his second shot after having just hosted in March... Only 13 shows BETWEEN his episodes... |

Lazy Sunday turns 10. http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/lazy-sunday-10th-anniversary-snl-1201657949/ I still haven't seen any of the Narnia movies, but every time I come across one of the books in a classroom, it's just ingrained... the Chronic-what?-cles of Narnia... And... 15 years old now... http://www.avclub.com/article/i-wish-it-was-christmas-today-has-grown-novelty-so-229872 Always loved 'Wish It Was Christmas Today'... 10 SNL appearances and one on Late Night... After Killam did three disappointing turns as Trump, they seem to have course-corrected and had Darrell do it tonight- hope that's from now on... Gave Ted Cruz to Killam instead... Darrell's 20th time doing Trump, Amy's 18th time as Hillary, Kate's 9th time as Hillary, Tina's 9th time as Sarah Palin, Amy & Maya's 9th time doing Bronx Beat... |

I haven't watched the show in a long time however I always find the political clips on youtube and watch those. I was watching Rachel Maddow yesterday and she was featuring some Republican commercials that were almost surreal and seems like they came from Saturday Night Live. I can hardly wait for them to get that material and turn it into a parody |

SNL's political satire seems a little hard to pull off these days because the reality is SO ridiculous, there's nothing to mock... their Republican debate sketch was close to a transcript of the real thing... we're used to exaggeration as comedy, but when reality is so distorted... Looking forward to the Adam Driver-hosted show this week. |

You are correct about reality becoming a parody at least in the Republican Party. The commercial Rachel Maddow showed was as absurd as anything you ever saw on Saturday Night Live |

Praise for Darrell - http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/01/25/why-snl-can-t-quit-darrell-hammond-its-best-donald-trump-impersonator.html Would be fun if - just as Kenan would tie Hammond's record 14 year-run if he comes back in the fall - Darrell officially rejoins the cast and does a fifteenth season as a cast member. For as much as we have recurring alumni, the only cast member to ever be in one cast, off for a few years, and then come back and be in another cast is Harry Shearer ('79-'80 and '84-'85). Al Franken did this, too, but was a writer and 'Featured Player', not full cast. Of course, Norm MacDonald left the show in 1998, and every Saturday, I keep wishing he'd take back the Update desk... |

When I watch the political satire now I don't know what is real or not. The Tina Fey sketch this past week was awesome BUT it wasn't as crazy as Sarah Palin herself. Oh and the Trump is just beyond cray-cray. |

One friend put it like this >> I finally watched Sarah Palin's endorsement speech for Trump. Holy shit. It reminded me of this old crack whore who used to live in the same shithole hotel I did in Long Beach. She'd sit on the stoop and shout gibberish in between taking dudes into the alley and blowing them for that rock and then stuffing the toilets in the common bathrooms with strips of newspaper, shitting in each one and flushing them all in a row. >> Palin literally sounded exactly like that. Between that and that weird sweater thing she was wearing I gotta wonder how hard she's been hitting the pipe. |

I don't watch the show anymore but I do check YouTube for the political satire. This past Saturday's opening was pretty good. I don't care for the woman who plays Hillary Clinton but I really did like the phrase 'stuck in the middle with me'. |

Most of last night's show was pretty bad, but the opening was fine, and see the 'Racists for Trump' ad - that's good... And a bit on Update where Pharoah does quick impressions of seven black comedians was fun... |

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/darrell-hammond-interview-donald-trump-874049 "By personal request" doesn't specify if the request (for Hammond to reprise his role) came from Trump or Lorne, but if it was Trump, that's ONE thing he's done that I approve of... |

Prince tribute last night was really cool. Jimmy Fallon stood on home base without an audience and introduced clips and told the story of Prince at the after party for the 40th anniversary last year... They showed all of Prince's four appearances on the show, never-aired footage of that party, and 4 of the 7 Prince Show sketches that Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph did between '04 and '07... Prince was 22 when he debuted on SNL on 2.21.81 (Season 6, 11th show).. Charlene Tilton hosting... Todd Rundgren had been the main musical guest and done two numbers... Prince was an additional guest towards the end of the show... 'Party Up'. This was a big night in SNL history for another couple of reasons... Charles Rocket said 'fuck' on the air, and he, producer Jean Doumanian, Gilbert Gottfried, and (another cast member) Ann Risley were all fired - the show took a month-long break and came back for just two more shows to finish the season.... Episode also marked the first time Eddie Murphy did 'Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood'... 9.24.89 - 15th anniversary show, preceding the season premiere by a week... 'Electric Chair'. 2.4.06 - Steve Martin (14th time as host, he's done 15, Alec is now ahead by one...), 31.12. 'Fury' and 'Beautiful, Loved & Blessed' with Tamar. 11.1.14 - Chris Rock (40.5) hosting. 'Clouds', 'Marz', 'Another Love'... Rare, for sure, but I don't know if it's the only time it's ever happened... Instead of the usual two sets (or occasional-but-rare third), Prince did one long set... Lady with him is 3RDEYEGIRL. 2.16.15, wee hours of the morning, Jimmy recalled it was past 4:30... 'Let's Go Crazy'. Jimmy, Chris Rock, Maya, others, jamming with Prince at the Plaza... Lot of great energy and joy in this - really glad we got to see it... Edit - ooh, more, different footage, shot by Tim Kazurinsky - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CMNKnC9K8Uo Time was then filled out with four Prince Show sketches - #3, from 10.9.04 with Queen Latifah; #4, a 12.18.04 Christmas one with De Niro; #6, with Steve Martin - Prince is THERE that night, but they did not do the Real Person Confronts His/Her Impersonator bit that we'd been expecting; #7, the final 'Prince Show' from 4.14.07, with Shia LaBeouf. Fred played Prince eleven times between '04 and '12. |

8 people were shot to death in Ohio on Friday and it hardly even made the news because of Prince. I really didn't care about Prince because I really don't care much about any celebrity. It was too bad he died relatively young but there should have been maybe a half an hour of coverage, not for days. He wasn't the king of England or one of our former presidents. I know he had a great body of work and he was talented but enough is enough. |
