I admit that I am disappointed at how hard the show has been on female characters. |

I wish I could say I'm liking it. I am seriously considering dropping it even though I recognize all of its strengths and qualities. This last episode just creeped me out too much. I actually like everything with Elliot; it's the other plots that I don't appreciate. Wellick feels to me like a tangential plot that is purely there to be edgy and porny for the sake of getting that MA rating-I am not at all interested in him, what he's up to, how he connects to Elliot, or how he will dovetail into the E-corp plot and Elliot. It's also starting to feel too 'unreal' - not in the sense that it is SF, but in the sense that I just don't buy the characters saying, doing, acting this way in real life. I'm not getting that twinge of identification with anyone or anything. I'll stick to the end of this season but 'im on the bubble' about renewing my viewing next season.

I know what you mean. I really enjoy Elliot a great deal. Wellick and his wife and all their doings just...creep me out/bore me plus it puts me way over my limit for how much general rape, torture, murder and abuse of women or women as whores I'm willing to watch. It is just way too porny. The whole women as angel (hello? Angela!)/whore is too pervasive in what is considered to be 'edgy' tv/movies these days. I just...can't. The combination of fury at the obvious wet dream violence/demeaning of women (even as they are elevated/worshipped as they pretty nearly are in Mr Robot) with the boredom with this whole one/two note depiction of women and I'm back at fury and disgust. Just: no. The actors are what made/saved Mad Men despite what I saw/still see as some pretty disgusting stereotypes of women that do not really ring true with how life was in the 60's and early 70's---and I remember from a small town perspective where enlightenment still has not quite caught on. It's not enough that almost every single film has a nearly all male cast or an all male cast, yet is not billed as a 'man's movie' or dick flick but make women front and center and it's chick flick and diminished as trite and only gets attention if it is women as frat boys instead of men as frat boys. I'm just..ready for something more and better. All of that rant aside, I find I deeply care about Elliot and I also care about Angela and Krista and Darlene and loved Shayla too, fat lot of good it did me. The rest of the characters? meh. I like Gideon. |

Whee.... Thought that was terrific. 'Unreliable narrator', indeed. Loved the scene with WhiteRose. Too bad she seems to really mean it when she says we'll never see her again.. |

The reveal about Darlene was pretty cool.......except I immediately second guessed it. :firemad: Then I remembered the ballet class and decided that's why they opened with Darlene and Angela at the ballet class, so we'd have some grounding in reality... I did not realize BD Wong was WhiteRose. People are STILL debating if dad/Mr. Robot is alive! I just don't see how he can be a figment, even if Elliot has DID or some other severe psychotic break, not when we have seen Mr. Robot talking to Tyler and others without Eliot around. Some people are claiming that people have never talked to BOTH Elliot AND Mr. Robot in the same scene...I've seen the spec that when he's switched to his alt personality of Mr. Robot we see what HE thinks he is, not what the others see, who think they are talking with Elliot. I'm not buying that. It seems like a cheap trick, not the same as an unreliable narrator. I still don't need the wellivers in this show at all. |

Angela/Darlene at the beginning was a head-scratcher... I saw Wong in the credits, but... yeah, not very recognizably him. Great metamorphosis. Either everybody seeing Mr. Robot has their own (but then why would he look like Elliot's Dad?), or that's Elliot with them... I trust things will make more sense next week. Two left. |

I confess that I was shocked in a good way re: Darlene and Mr. Robot. Not sure if it will hold up as being reality. Thank you for mentioning BD Wong. It was really bothering me because I was sure I recognized White Rose but couldn't place who it was. Am very interested in what comes next. Big agree about Welliver not being needed. At all. |

I knew BD Wong was a woman in drag but I didn't know who. Love this show!!! This episode reminded me of The Sixth Sense in a way. The 'I see dead people and Bruce Willis character is dead' vs. the 'I don't remember you are my dad and sister'.
Yes. I was all confused by that but now it makes sense. ;) |

I think he was busted for... something, but I don't remember what, or when Elliot might have told us. Second to last para of this article cites the show's bios page, and says financial hacking... http://www.wired.com/2015/07/mr-robot-fact-check/ Wait. There must have been something in the pilot, or the second one... |

A lot of the early Darlene stuff makes MUCH more sense now. The show will really benefit from a rewatch (and jusdcious use of the FF button perhaps :P ) |

I like Tyrell and his wife but I can see how some feel they're unnecessary. My only problem with them is that Tyrell strangling Sharon Knowles feels like it doesn't fit in with anything else happening on the show. I was wondering if White Rose saying Elliot would never see him/her again could be interpreted as Elliot never seeing White Rose dressed in that disguise again? The Elliot/Darlene reveal was good fun. I'm hoping Mr Robot/Elliot's dad is alive and not a figment of his imagination. With some of Elliot's narration, I wonder if this is a story being told to us in hindsight. |

I don't know. I wonder myself. Would a dad put his kid off a pier? I'm thinking Elliot jumped and dad didn't push him so Mr. Robot isn't real. |

Except, this parallels the story Elliot (or Angela?) told of his dad pushing him out a window. He and his dad had a complicated relationship and wasn't so nice. I've also see the wackiest theory, that Mr. Robot Dad is telling the story and Elliot was the one who died of cancer like Angela's mom, so Mr. Robot Dad had a psychotic break having caused his son's death by cancer and so assumed his personality. lol I refuse to go back and try to figure that one out. The finale for this one will be really intense and frustrating if some of the narrative at least isn't clarified. |

I saw a theory with Elliot being a schizophrenic and his dad, Mr Robot, has assisted him in going off his meds so that he (Elliot) would be more pliable in the take down of Evil Corp. That doesn't explain why Elliot thinks his dad is dead but maybe it's actually his mother who's dead? We didn't see Darlene in any of the scenes of Elliot and his mother (did we?), so it seems those scenes may not be reliable. |

Do we have confirmation that Elliot's mom is dead from another character? Angela? I know there was some discussion when she shared about her own mother... I want to say that she DID mention "my mom and Elliot's dad'" but 1) I may be misremembering 2) the unreliability of the narrative may have scammed the audience about this point.... |

So 2 more episodes in Season 1 and next year renewed already. Goog good. Kind of shocked that Episode 8 messed with our minds so much and they didn't do that in last episode of the season. I'm very excited about this show and how this is going to play out and where we are going to be left at end of season. |

The problem with Elliot's Dad not being dead is Slater hasn't aged a bit between those old photos and now. Sure, the actor has mostly maintained his youthful looks, but... No. I like this show a lot. Again, 'wow!', that it's on USA. |

So you know what that means, right? It means that my cable company will have a war with USA on pricing and I won't get that station anymore. ^_^ (((My inner pessimist is coming through))). Slater IS youthful looking but I kind of think he is too young to have a kid Elliots age but in reality it's totally possible. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. |

Even though the big reveal wasn't a big surprise, I thought the graveyard scene was pretty damn good. Enjoyed another round of Angela vs. Terry Colby. I'm not sure I believe there are no grudges in business but I do see how greed could trump personal feelings. A bit surprised Joanna reprimanded Tyrell the way she did. With the way she induced her own labor, I thought maybe she was loyal to a fault. |

Slater is only 12 years older than Malek, which surprised me. Joanna is nothing if not absolutely ruthless. I wasn't surprised by the big reveal, and in fact, was a bit relieved. Otherwise it would have been a bit of a shark jump. It lets me like the show just when I was getting ready to give it up. Angela: I can see her going or attempting to go in as a mole/sleeper. She doesn't strike me as having quite the balls for it to be successful. Am still really, really bummed about Shayla. |

Hopefully, we'll learn more about Joanna next season. I like the actress and I'm curious if there's more to her than just her greed. Will the kid be a positive influence on her? When Angela was google-ing Terry Colby, there was a link about him receiving an honorary degree. It had the most recent date of all of the dated links. I guess this big screen TV is good for something, lol. I loved what the guy who fired Tyrell said about being disappointed by the reality of his reaction. |

Given how 'person of interest' Tyrell is in that murder, I'd have been a little nervous about being alone with him during the firing... The music in the ending scene was a really clever choice (from the similar scenario in Fight Club). |

If Sam Esmail is choosing the tunes, we have similar taste in music. The Cure a few episodes back. Angela was listening to one of my favorite songs by Sonic Youth while searching Google for Terry Colby. I'm a fan of The Pixies, though I didn't recognize the song at the end of the episode. The song that played while Tyrell strangled Sharon Knowles was pretty cool, too. To his credit, the guy did say he didn't think Tyrell had anything to do with it. But maybe do it in a glassed-in office? Gideon likes them young, lol. |

USA postpones Mr. Robot finale due to WDBJ shooting Mr. Robot Posted August 26 2015 — 4:51 PM EDT USA Network has announced they will not be airing the season finale of Mr. Robot Wednesday evening as previously scheduled following a shooting in Virginia which left two WDBJ7 journalists dead. “The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia,” the network said in a statement. “Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.” Mr. Robot’s first season finale will now air Sept. 2 at 10 p.m. ET, and USA will rerun the season’s penultimate episode in the finale’s place this Wednesday. Twenty-four-year-old reporter Alison Parker and 27-year-old photographer Adam Ward were shot to death during a live broadcast on Wednesday morning in Moneta, Virginia. The shooter was identified as Vester Lee Flanagan, a man who worked for WDBJ under the name Bryce Williams and was fired two years ago. Sheriff Bill Overton confirmed during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that Flanagan died of “a self-inflicted gunshot wound.” Edited by Gatekeeper, Aug 26 2015, 04:18 PM.

That's interesting. I mean the finale I don't really care who is marrying who. I bailed out of the show after about two and a half episodes. I found it confusing and dream like I don't mind confusion but I really hate dreamlike things. My husband absolutely hated the show. I have to admit it's a fascinating though and maybe sometime I'll just read a recap or whatever. |
