So far...

1996 movie takes place mostly in Minneapolis MN in 1987.
2014 first season takes place mostly in Bemidji MN in 2006.
2015 second season takes place mostly in Luverne MN in 1979. (But the Gerhardts' farm is in Fargo ND...)

Peggy and Dodd were hilarious together. I loved it when she stabbed him to make him be nice. Dodd getting free of those ropes seemed highly unlikely but I was pleased that Peggy and Ed survived the ordeal.

Hanzee at the gas station's store seemed like a nod to the scene in No Country for Old Men.

This was probably my favorite episode of the season.

I have to agree with that, it was a really good episode. I guess there's just one more left? I was kind of surprised that the Indian killed Dodd.

I was kind of surprised that the Indian killed Dodd.
Me, too. All I could figure was that he was having a moment of being worn out of people treating him like shit, and then Dodd started with the name-calling. Seemed like he was willing to allow Peggy to stab him in the neck, too. Then he saw the cops and his adrenaline kicked in.

That was one helluva massacre at Sioux Falls. Poor Floyd. She was the only Gerhardt with some sense.

Now that I finally realize that Albert Camus was an influence for this season, Peggy and Ed's survival is all the more enjoyable.

Didn't think Hank would make it out of this one. And while Lou is out trying to save the world, his wife is at home dying.

Still not sure what I think of the UFO.

Didn't read bilki... haven't finished it yet... twenty minutes in last night, and I was too sleepy... Fun to hear Martin Freeman back to voice 'the book'...

Man, those Dakota cops were dumb...

Poor Molly.

Glad Hank is still alive... Hope he stays that way.

Hope Mike Milligan survives... I'd like to see him reunite with future-Lou...

They seemed more accepting of the UFO at EW.com than they were at HitFix. I think I would have appreciated it more if there had been some ambiguity surrounding the identity of the object. I did love Peggy's matter-of-fact comment, though. Kirsten Dunst has been so fun to watch.

I'm fine with the UFO. Peggy's line was very funny.

Since you were ultimately 'eh' on last year, are you liking this one more, less, about the same, or get-back-to-you-after-the-finale?

I'm 'about the same', but I was more impressed with the accomplishment (wow, they actually made this work) last year (although there is a 'hey, they could do it again, too' factor...), and while I think both casts are pretty amazing, there was something extra 'special' about Thornton and Freeman together...

I liked last year's story better, but I'm loving all the little cinematic flourishes and the soundtrack selections...

UFO had me stumped but I'm fine with it too. I was thinking the aliens were thinking about abducting the bunch and said 'Oh hell no ... these people are crazy' and took off.

I like this year a lot. I was wondering how they would do another year but they did a great job.

The saucer brought it full circle... Peggy hit Rye 'cuz he was frozen in the street, staring at it (or another one), and that was the catalyst for so much of the story...

Did we see Peggy hit Rye because he was watching a UFO and I missed it?

I'm enjoying this season more than last, though I thought last season felt like it had a purpose from the start. I've questioned the point of this season several times until we got to the massacre at Sioux Falls. But I've stuck with this season, while last season I skipped a couple episodes. Martin Freeman and Alison Tolman were the only reason I watched last season's finale. I wanted to see how things would play out for poor, unfortunate Lester.

Yeah. End of the first act of the first episode... The waitress escapes the diner, wounded. Rye goes after her, gets her. He's in the street and sees three blue lights in the horizon... They raise up, fly above him, and fly off. And then he's hit by a car...

I know the series is loosely based on something that really happened. Are the UFOs something that was supposed to have happened as well?

Yes/no... The 'This is a true story' title cards that open every episode (and the movie) are a joke.

But Hawley says of the UFOs that they were really a part of the era... Sightings, speculation, Close Encounters in '77... And this story served as an inspiration - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Val_Johnson_incident

Very satisfying finale.

And hey - Hanzee was in Season 1, it turns out... http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/how-the-fargo-finale-revealed-a-hidden-secret-from-season-1... and Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers were shown as kids last night...

Longer wait for Season 3... we'll get it in the spring of 2017.

It'll take place in 2010, four years after Season 1. New cast of regulars, but we may see people we already know...

I thought it was really dull. Especially after last week's epi.

It was OK.

I thought Peggy's monologue in the back of the patrol car was the most interesting thing that happened. I liked how she said a man wouldn't be able to understand her point of view, then Lou validated that with his response to her. Yes, people died but that wasn't really what she was talking about.

The family moments had a sweetness to them that didn't make me want to mute the sound.

Hanzee wanting a face lift made me chuckle. His inner demons will still know where to find him.

Yes Peggy hadn't figured out that she's a narcissist. I felt bad that her husband died.

After all the action last week I really had hope for something a little perkier, however there weren't very many people left to shoot.

It was pretty clear after #9 that #10 would be mostly denouement... I didn't need to see Hanzee take out another block of people to make the massacre a bigger one...

Hank surviving was good.
Betsy surviving (a little longer, anyway...) was good.

It was a happy ending for the good guys.

And two of the more interesting bad guys 'got away'... but Mike isn't happy with his promotion... and Hanzee will be killed by Lorne Malvo in 27 years.

So from last season did they ever say how long Molly's mom lived? Obviously if she was sick from the medication it was not a placebo.

They didn't say exactly, but it was said that Molly was mostly raised by just her father, so we know she was young...

The cancer will win, but I was glad it didn't before we left them here...

Cool. Whatever she was going to do next, she was going to be 'the girl that got her big break on Fargo'... but to stick with the same creator and network - that's good for all of them...

I was young, but this run of New Mutants that introduced Xavier's son was a favorite, especially for all that glorious and weird Bill Sienkiewicz art...
