15 have aired... I'm watching 11-14 today... 11 - Raina looks cool. Palicki's promotion to regular took effect in #11. Eight regulars now, though Ward is only credited for episodes in which he appears. 12 - Some funny amnesia stuff for Sif. Kree visitor provided more exposition for the Inhumans... Anxious to learn more about Bobbi and Mack's alternate agenda... their conversation here makes it pretty clear that they're NOT Hydra, which was a pretty legit worry when articles about Palicki's promotion said she was PLAYING a 'Hydra agent' (which was, like, a big spoiler if true...). 13 - I love Kyle MacLachlan. Good to see Blair Underwood as May's ex-husband, and Drea de Matteo, who used to be a neighbor to MacLachlan on Wisteria Lane... Good action. 'Real SHIELD' reveal... sounds dumb. |

14 - Talbot hunting the mask was funny. Good to see Olmos and Acevedo. Okay. I wasn't liking the Another Mole Inside Our Team thing (too soon), but it IS logical enough that there would be SHIELD agents disagreeing with Coulson being in charge, especially given the alien dna thing, and since they don't know Fury is still alive... |

And apparently it's rumored this also will tie into the Civil War stuff, so I am supposing they are setting up the idea that two 'good guys' could be on opposite sides. I never knew much of the Civil War stuff. I was mostly done with comic books in the 90s. This gives a basic review. SPOILERS based on MCU comic history, not actual movie/TV spoilers. (eta: I thought the Civil War stuff was new but not less than 10 yrs old. huh.) http://whatculture.com/film/5-reasons-civil-war-story-arc-wouldnt-work-marvel-cinematic-universe.php Reviewer words in italics. So this guy obviously has no soothsaying ability, since it's a done deal now. I'll list the highlights: 5. It’s A Licensing Nightmare ...securing licensing rights for the likes of Spider Man,Wolverine, The Fantastic Four and Daredevil (also important to the story) isn’t bloody likely. Gives X-man example with Storm and Fox. 4. It’s Too Big (LOLOL....) ...40 books, involved dozens of key players, and covered so much narrative ground. Reviewer worries even three movies isn't enough 3. It Screws Up S.H.I.E.L.D. Spoiler: click to toggle See, for me it was all about Cap and the Avengers. This is now very prominently a mess. Can't wait to see the reimagined movie version. I predict it's gonna have only passing acquaintance with the comic book canon. :firemad: 2. It Paints Every Other MCU Film Into A Corner Reviewer is still concerned with comic book canon. Me, I think comic book canon in this instance sucks and most fans will welcome a reset, redo, new path through this story. Movie fans especially will NOT like the way this plays out so I predict massive changes. My touchstone will be the Big Bang geeks. :icecream: if they are horrified by possible changes from book to film, then maybe the movies will stick closer to the comics. However, i predict they will be quite fine with a fluid reset. Which leads to... 1. Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark Just Wouldn’t Do That .....RDJ breathed new life into a character who was once so unpopular, his comic series was almost cancelled by Marvel. This is an Iron Man who is funny, quirky, a little obsessive-compulsive and definitely anti-establishment. The thought of this genius, wise cracking anti-hero suddenly becoming the government poster boy for the militaristic superhuman draft is…just…ludicrous. Which leads the review to conclude the movies will NOT be made since the comic book industry would never allow itself to be dictated by the movie industry. ::snicker:: And thus, since the movies ARE being made, and Downey's Stark ISN'T the comic book Stark, then the Civil War has to play out very very differently. I hope so. I think I'm off to look up some movie Civil War info... Edited by KMInfinity, Apr 6 2015, 09:25 AM.

I haven't read the Civil War story, but know a little bit about it. I have comics-reading friends that are excited it's going to be adapted... But yes, the MCU is different from the comics in substantial ways... the story will play differently, of course. The gist of it is that Cap and Stark disagree... I understand Black Panther was going to be the key to-be-unmasked figure when they didn't have Spider-Man... but now they HAVE Spider-Man, and this is awesome... (part of the trouble with a just-the-Avengers superhero world is that none of them have secret identities...) Nope, no Fantastic Four, no X-Men. They do not exist in the MCU (and Marvel, the comics company, have kinda been assholes with Fox... they've canceled the series and limited the characters' usages...). Daredevil is available to them. I'll be starting to watch his series on Friday... |

>>>The gist of it is that Cap and Stark disagree... Apparently MC did a series of "What if" parallel universe books, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_If_%28comics%29 for the last decade and in one, even though Stark and Cap disagree, they don't go full bore all-out war, and Stark joins up with Cap after mentioning misgivings. I'm gonna check how that one ends, because that scenario sounds way more likely...unless some other 3rd tier guy inherits Stark's storyline. |

Downey will be in Avengers 3 & 4, whatever happens in Cap 3. The greater threat will pull the band back together. Which is the case with Avengers 2, now, too... Tony quit and even destroyed a lot of his toys at the end of Iron Man 3. I do think what they've done here with Skye and Raina and all of the Inhumans set-ups has been pretty clever... prevented from using the word 'mutant', a very prevalent concept in the comics, because Fox has the X-Men... they are making the Inhumans (who also exist, but there are, you know, fewer of them) the equivalent... those born with stuff, but are triggered by the diviners... |

Much much rather see Agent Carter. I like Bobbi okay and Hunter is fun, but I don't see them carrying a show. |

Recent episode was jam packed and a lot of fun. I like Ward in it. Skye is starting to be okay...I like her playing opposite people like Maclachlan and Dichan Lachman. Love seeing Mike/Deathlok. |

http://mentalfloss.com/uk/movies/28527/qa-joss-whedon-on-super-heroes-the-pop-culture-mainstream A little strange that Joss didn't want to acknowledge NotDead Coulson in Avengers 2... 'That was the TV division'... Okay, fine, maybe it wasn't your call (to bring him back), but you DID co-create and direct the pilot to that SHIELD show... I'd be surprised if Coulson never turned up in one of the movies again... They're NOT 'separate' things, the films and the TV, Feige has made clear over and over... http://www.buzzfeed.com/adambvary/joss-whedon-clarifies-comments-misogyny-superhero-movies#.jf2N8wlbK As good as it's been to have Joss assist with Phase Two and do the first couple Avengers movies, I'm glad for him (and his fans) that he's out. He should be making and playing with his own toys, for sure. (That said, I'm sure I wouldn't bitch if he ever agreed to do a Star Wars for Disney...) I liked the Russo brothers' Cap 2 very much, so I think Cap 3 and Avengers 3 & 4 are in good hands. |

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/age-ultron-creator-roy-thomas-791320 Saving for after-movie... https://soundcloud.com/empiremagazine/avengers-age-of-ultron-spoiler-podcast-joss-whedon-and-paul-bettany Martin Freeman has been cast in an unspecified role in Captain America: Civil War. It'd be fun if he's a character that might recur and someday put him on-screen opposite Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), his co-star in both the Sherlock series and the second Hobbit film... |

Agent Carter renewed. I was far from sure that that was going to happen... (And Galavant... I REALLY didn't expect that back...) Mockingbird/Hunter spin-off idea looks to be dead. No word yet on the secret Marvel/John Ridley project... |

That makes up for Forever! Yay! I'd much rather have Carter than Bobbi in her own show. Haven't seen Ultron, so this past episode had a couple WTF spoilery moments. Slam bang lots of fun. I really don't understand why this isn't finding a stronger audience. |

Saw Avengers 2 tonight. Big and loud. Some funny jokes and a few good character beats, but it's just so busy and overwhelmed with spectacle that the new characters aren't well-introduced, and the plot often feels sillier than it should. I'm glad Joss is done. Spader was great. I like Elizabeth Olsen. I still wouldn't say Marvel has made any outright duds, but this one falls on the same side of the spectrum as the two Thor movies for me... Just 'too much'. I like the simpler stuff more. Ant-Man looks like more fun. And I'm hopeful about Cap 3.... |
